The Chicago Bears are guaranteed to play meaningful football for the rest of the season.

With a 31-3 win over the Cleveland Browns, the Bears improved to 10-4 before getting set to host the Green Bay Packers in Week 16. Chicago will then travel to play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 before ending the regular season by hosting the Detroit Lions in Week 18.
Following the early afternoon games on the NFL’s Week 15 schedule, the Bears are No. 6 in the NFC.
One trade helped Chicago improve its roster before the season. In March, the Kansas City Chiefs traded All-Pro offensive guard Joe Thuney to the Bears in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick as a way to cut down on the salary cap.
New head coach Ben Johnson wanted to improve the offense. So far, it’s worked out for the Bears.
Thuney had not given up a sack through the first 13 games.
On Sunday, the Chiefs were eliminated from postseason contention with a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The defeat dropped Kansas City to 6-8.

No more meaningful football for the Chiefs.
Thuney and the Bears are in must-win mode from now until January or February. Thuney’s efforts boost the passing and running game have been a big reason for Chicago’s success.
During his news conference on Sunday, Johnson credited the offensive line for taking it to the Browns front seven.
“I do think those guys came out and battled,” Johnson said. “I think they were looking forward to the challenge. You talk about all week, how fast the linebacking crew is that we’re going against, and how you got to take the proper angle, and then obviously their defensive front, their get off.
Next week, Thuney has a tougher test. The Bears need to earn a victory over a Packers team that won their first meeting in a 28-21 game in Week 14.
