Nobody should be happier to be a member of the Chicago Bears on Sunday than offensive guard Joe Thuney.
More News: Bears’ Caleb Williams sets goal before Browns game
The Kansas City Chiefs traded Thuney to the Bears in the offseason. Following a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention.
With a 10-4 record after beating the Cleveland Browns 31-3 in front of 54,051 fans at Solider Field, the Bears are squarely in the playoff hunt with three games remaining in the regular season.
All week the Bears offensive line had to hear about Cleveland’s front seven.
While the Browns recorded three sacks (1.5 for Myles Garrett), Thuney and the offensive line gashed Cleveland for 142 yards on the ground. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chicago Bears need to be better

More News: Bears call out Caleb Williams before Browns game
During his postgame news conference, Chicago head coach Ben Johnson said he liked the way the offensive line battled the Browns.
“I do think those guys came out and battled,” Johnson said. “I think they were looking forward to the challenge. You talk about all week, how fast the linebacking crew is that we’re going against, and how you got to take the proper angle, and then obviously their defensive front, their get off.
“It’s something that’s very difficult to simulate over the course of practice and and so it can be a shock if you’re not prepared for it. And I thought our guys handled it really well.”
Johnson was frustrated with false starts and a fumble on a snap that was recovered by Williams. He sent a warning to the offense that they needed to be better before playing a tougher schedule at the end of the season.
“The fall starts frustrate me a little bit,” Johnson said. “We’re past that here at this point, and then we have a ball handling snafu there in the second half that that can’t happen. I mean those are things that those should be behind us now at this point. Those guys know that.
“They understand that, because when you face these good defenses, these good teams, you really can’t give them anything.”
The Bears will face another tough defense in Week 16 when they host the Green Bay Packers.
