On Monday, Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson suggested Caleb Williams missed a throw he makes all the time in practice, early in the first quarter during the team’s 28-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Week 14.

Johnson suggested he needs needs to find another way to get his second-year quarterback in rhythm early in games so the offense can have a faster start. The Bears scored only three points before halftime against the Packers.

During his news conference on Friday, Johnson continued with that theme, calling out Williams for not being consistent as a passer in the last five games.
“It’s one of those things we are still working through,” Johnson said via CHGO Bears. “Last, call it 4 or 5 games, I haven’t felt like we are stacking completions.”

Caleb Williams should be on target by the playoffs

The Bears are seventh in the NFC at 9-4 before hosting the Cleveland Browns. The 3-10 Browns have the lowest winning percentage of the four opponents left on the Bears schedule, and they need to win this game to help with a playoff push.
Johnson thinks Williams should be on target by the time the playoff rolls around, if Chicago makes it.
“Hopefully we can find a way to make it into the dance,” Johnson said via Chris Emma of 670 The Score. “I think he’ll be playing his best football when we earn that right. … I know good things are coming down the horizon. He’s going to continue to get better.”
On Sunday, all Williams has to do is be better than a fifth-round pick and rookie, Shedeur Sanders.
