Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has become one of the most recognizable faces for WNBA and NBA fans alike. She boosted the Fever’s shooting and toughness since she arrived in Indiana via trade.
Cunningham helped the Fever get their first-ever 24-win season in franchise history. On top of that, she shot career highs of 43.2% from three and 46.9% from the field. The seven-year veteran also served as the Fever’s enforcer, standing up for her teammates when things got rough.
Prior to joining the Fever, she was a member of the Phoenix Mercury for six seasons. In her career, she is averaging 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Sophie Cunningham shares her thoughts on her NBA player comparison
Basketball fans and analysts alike are fond of making comparisons. Whether it be between two different eras, players, teams or even WNBA and NBA players.
During an NBA broadcast, Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller compared Fever star Caitlin Clark to Payton Pritchard. He said that he likened Pritchard’s ball handling and ability to make big shots to Clark’s abilities.
This was met by Clark’s almost poker face look, signifying that she may not have agreed with Miller’s comparison.
Most recently, Cunningham was interviewed by SiriusXM Sports. The 6-foot-1 guard shared her own NBA comparison.
“After that whole Caitlin Clark is Payton Pritchard comparison, who is Sophie Cunningham’s NBA comparison?” they asked.
“So, if you’re asking Reggie Miller, I don’t know what he would say what my NBA comparison would be,” Cunningham jokingly referenced Miller’s comments about Clark’s NBA counterpart.
“But, I feel like I get, like, a lot of Grayson Allen quite a bit,” she answered. “And I’ll take that. He’s a hell of a shooter, and he’s tough. So say less.”

That’s not a bad comparison for Cunningham, as Grayson Allen is really known to be a tough player. The Phoenix Suns guard is a good shooter and a tough defender, and Cunningham does have a pretty similar style.
