The Chicago White Sox<\/a><\/span> are one day away (March 26) from Opening Day. Right-hander Shane Smith<\/span><\/a> will square off against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the rosters not officially getting finalized, the White Sox made a bold move by adding 22-year-old right-hander Jedixson P\u00e1ez to the roster. According to BBWAA member Francys Romero, P\u00e1ez will be jumping straight from Single-A to the Major Leagues without playing in Double-A. <\/span><\/p>\n

P\u00e1ez struggled in seven games, posting a 6.35 ERA, walking five and striking out 11 in 11.1 innings. Between High-A and Single-A last season, P\u00e1ez had 5-4 with a 3.17 ERA and striking out 113 in 96.2 innings. A right calf strain sidelined P\u00e1ez for four months last season. <\/span><\/p>\n

The White Sox selected P\u00e1ez in the Rule 5 Draft from the Boston Red Sox this offseason. Being a Rule 5 pick, P\u00e1ez needed to make the Opening Day roster and spend the season with the White Sox, or get offered back to Boston.<\/span><\/p>\n
