The Chicago Bears have been one of the more intriguing teams throughout the offseason. They have a lot of quality players on the roster, but still have some holes in their roster. After winning the NFC North last season, they need to improve on the defense this offseason to take that next step. There are still some quality free agents available in the free agent market and there can be a reunion to happen.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Bears can see a reunion with Leonard Floyd<\/h2>\n

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report<\/a> wrote an article where he discussed potential fits for the top remaining free agents. The Bears would pop up a few times, but one of the more intriguing ones was veteran edge rusher Leonard Floyd. Of course, this would be a reunion as Floyd played in Chicago from 2016-19 with the team. Below is what Knox wrote about this being a good fit.:<\/p>\n

“Pass-rusher Leonard Floyd has entered the ‘veteran mercenary’ stage of his career. However, the 33-year-old remains a disruptive defender who would make plenty of sense for a contender in need of edge help… The Bears could use an edge-rushing boost<\/a>, too, after only recording 35 sacks as a team in 2025. Chicago drafted Floyd ninth overall in 2016, and while he never played up to his draft status for the Bears, he’s carved out a very respectable career since. A reunion would be sensible for the Bears and Floyd.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Floyd is entering his 11th season in the NFL, and while he is not the player he was years ago, he’s still able to be productive. Last season for the Atlanta Falcons, he would record 19 total tackles (six solo, 13 assisted) with 3.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits, and one pass deflection over 15 games<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Bears could certainly use the help off the edge, but working out a contract may be difficult. According to Over The Cap<\/a>, Chicago has the lowest cap space this season in the sport with $243,078. If they are able to rework some contracts, they should be able to fit a potential Floyd contract in their books. It would be an intriguing fit to see the veteran returning to where his NFL career started to help them win a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
