He started his scouting career with the Bears in 2015 as an intern.<\/p>\n<p>Since joining the Bears, King has taken on roles with Chicago as pro scout, assistant director of pro scouting, director of pro scouting, and co-director of player personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Now he&#8217;s one step away from becoming a general manager.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came on King&#8217;s birthday. The new assistant general manager is turning 43.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m super lucky,&#8221; said King. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been here 12 years. That doesn&#8217;t happen.
