The Chicago Blackhawks are in a position where they can make a significant addition this offseason. There are some integral players who can be available for the right price. Chicago has strong draft capital after another struggling season. The Toronto Maple Leafs could be looking to move a young star, so let’s take a closer look at why one outlet believes Chicago could be a trade destination for a budding star.
The Chicago Blackhawks are a trade destination for Matthew Knies

The Blackhawks are looking to improve the team this offseason, and there is one way this can happen. Bleacher Report’s Joe Yerdon wrote an article discussing potential landing spots for Toronto Maple Leafs winger Matthew Knies. Below is what he wrote about this potential scenario:
“Whether you put Knies on Bedard’s wing or Frank Nazar’s wing, it would be a major improvement to what they’re working with now. While Tyler Bertuzzi has had a strong season with Bedard, Chicago just needs more, period. Getting a guy like Knies, who can help rush up the wing and use his strength to get to the net, would only be a boost.
“Sure, adding him in a trade would cost some of their prospects or picks, but Chicago has amassed so many of them at this point that using some to add a quality players is part of the reason why you accumulate draft picks in the first place. They need quality players to better surround Bedard and get back to the playoffs and this would be one way to do that.”
Knies can be a star in waiting as he has recorded 57 points (18 goals, 39 assists) through 68 games this year. Pairing him with Bedard would be an excellent duo that can develop together as they approach their primes. Knies just signed a six-year, $46.5 million contract extension, so it will not be a low price for him. It will be intriguing to see if general manager Kyle Davidson can pull off a trade of this magnitude.
