The Chicago Blackhawks are already shorthanded without Connor Bedard, who was placed on injured reserve on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Blackhawks punished a young player before their contest Tuesday agains the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Chicago is falling in the wild card race amid Bedard’s (separated shoulder) injury. The third-year center is not expected to be reevaluated until at least Jan. 1.
Per Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN, Blackhawks Jeff Blashill is making Artyom Levshunov a healthy scratch on Tuesday night after he showed up late to practice on Monday.

“Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill called out Artyom Levshunov during practice yesterday for being late to the rink,” Roumeliotis posted on X. “So if he’s a healthy scratch tonight, it’s likely more for disciplinary reasons than performance-based.

Levshunov, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft, has 14 points this season with one goal and 13 assists. He’s the sixth in points for Chicago.
Levshunov will be a huge miss for the Blackhawks with Bedard out.
Blashill was reportedly unhappy with Levshunov and several players during Monday’s practice. He yelled at a group of players for not being alert during the workout.
Blashill yelled an expletive at Levshunov for being late to practice.
There might be a discipline problem in Chicago.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, their leader is out for at least a few weeks. It’ll be important that the youth on Chicago steps up to face adversity as the team is without Bedard against a grueling schedule.
