The NHL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, as there are only a few more hours for teams to make trades. The Chicago Blackhawks have been active over the last few weeks to send away players and hoping to get younger talent or draft capital to bolster the team in the future. The front office could decide to stay put with less than six hours before the 3 pm deadline officially hits. However, there is one player who continues to be rumored to possibly be traded. Let’s take a closer look at who itis and why his name is still in the rumor mill.
The Chicago Blackhawks could still trade Ilya Mikheyev before the NHL Trade Deadline

The Athletic’s trade board is a way to see some of the names who could be traded ahead of today’s deadline. The Blackhawks have one player on the list in right wing Ilya Mikheyev. Below is the description that the trade board has for him:
“A big winger capable of playing up and down the lineup, Mikheyev brings a fair amount of versatility with his game. He’s been deployed as a penalty-killer throughout his NHL career and is a threat to score short-handed. Not only is Mikheyev a pending UFA, 15 percent of his contract was retained by the Vancouver Canucks in a previous trade, so the cap hit on his deal is eligible to be reduced further.”
The 31-year-old winger has a little more than a $4 million current cap hit. However, it has been rumored that Chicago may be done with trading players this season. Mikheyev has been struggling offensively, but is posting a +1.4 net rating on the defensive side of the ice. It will be intriguing to see if a contending team can make a trade offer that forces general manager Kyle Davidson to make an additional deal before the 3 pm ET deadline.
