The Chicago Bulls were busy on Tuesday afternoon, making two deals just a few days before the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday. While the second move included the Bulls finally moving Nikola Vucevic, it was a move earlier in the day that might tip the team’s future plans.
Chicago was able to acquire guards Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley in a three-team deal with Detroit and Minnesota. Ivey is a former lottery pick that is on the final year of his rookie deal and could be in the Bulls’ plans depending on how healthy he is and how well he plays. But for Conley, he’s the veteran in the deal and it sounds like he won’t be in Chicago for long.
Chicago Bulls don’t have plans to keep Mike Conley

The 38-year-old Conley is on the wrong side of his 30’s and likely has a few years left in his career. So for him, getting to a contender makes a lot more sense than staying with Chicago. Now, hours after the trade, the latest report suggests Conley won’t be in Chicago much longer.
Per Chris Haynes, Conley isn’t expected to stick with the Chicago Bulls. Both sides will work on proper path to move forward. Conley will be a target for a team in need of point guard depth.

It makes a lot of sense for the Bulls to buy out Conley as he’s on an expiring deal. That would benefit both sides as the Bulls are looking to get younger and Conley can be a key depth piece for a contender.
Now we wait to see what the Bulls do to try and make things right with Conley.
