Bill Simmons’ mock trade gives the Bulls an explosive wing in three-way deal

The Chicago Bulls could play a key role if a three-way trade involving the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors comes to fruition.

Rumors have swirled about potential moves, including the possibility of Anthony Davis being traded, but the Bulls’ involvement could focus on strengthening their roster in other ways. NBA analyst Bill Simmons suggested a scenario in which such a trade could provide additional support for Cooper Flagg, giving Chicago a chance to bolster their lineup ahead of the trade deadline. The Bulls will need to weigh how any incoming pieces fit their current rotation and long-term development plans.

“They (Mavericks) finally at least realized that Cooper Flagg, how to try to grow his career instead of ruin it,” Simmons remarked in his podcast. “But what if it was (Jonathan) Kuminga to Chicago, Coby White to Dallas, and then (Daniel) Gafford and an expiring to Golden State. Does anyone have to throw a pick into that trade?

Daniel Gafford has emerged as a potential trade candidate for the Dallas Mavericks, but the situation is complicated. With Dereck Lively II facing a possible extended absence, the Mavs may hesitate to move Gafford, as losing both big men could leave the team thin in the frontcourt.

Should the Bulls move on from Coby White?

“The moment White came back to Chicago, it kinda screwed them up. I’m not positive they need him. I actually think they need another wing and more explosiveness. Coby White’s gonna be free agent. Do you wanna pay Coby White if you’re Chicago when you just paid (Josh) Giddey? There’s some sort of ring around the Rosie trade with that, but I like the idea of Coby White in Dallas who desperately needs somebody like him,” Simmons continued.

If Dallas moves Gafford, Simmons’ proposed three-way trade could work strategically. The Mavericks need backcourt support, and Coby White would complement Cooper Flagg nicely. At just 25, White offers both immediate contributions and long-term upside, giving Dallas a chance to build around Flagg and White for the future.

The Bulls could benefit from adding depth on the wing, making Jonathan Kuminga a plausible target. Meanwhile, Golden State would gain from acquiring a capable center like Daniel Gafford.

Whether it is Coby White or another guard, the Mavericks need to seriously consider strengthening their backcourt.
