The Chicago Bears checked in with the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby, but the defensive end is set to be traded to the Baltimore Ravens when the league’s new year begins on Wednesday.

The Bears will enter free agency needing help at pass rusher. The only star defensive lineman Chicago has in that department is Montez Sweat, and he can’t do it all by himself as the team braces to challenge for a Super Bowl in quarterback Caleb Williams’ third season in the league.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN thinks the Bears are more likely to add interior defensive line help than a defensive end.
Before the legal tampering period on Monday, Chicago made a move to-resign a defensive end.
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears agreed to a two-year deal with Daniel Hardy worth up to $6 million, giving the team depth on defense and special teams.
“Sources: The Bears and DL/special teamer Daniel Hardy have agreed to a 2-year deal worth up to $6M,” Schultz posted on X. “A former 7th-round pick, Hardy had over 20 special teams tackles this past season and was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate.”

Hardy was a seventh-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2022. He signed to the Bears practice squad in 2024.
During his time in the league, Hard has appeared in 40 games and recorded 38 tackles. He played in five percent of the Bears defensive snaps and 78 percent of the team’s special teams snaps.
Hardy won’t be a fix for Chicago’s pass-rushing issues, but he can be a key contributor on special teams who can feel in if needed on defense.
