Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams believes that building strong bonds with teammates is essential to the team’s success. The 24-year-old frequently points to off-field activities, such as team dinners and outings, as crucial ways to strengthen this connection.
For him, those moments are as important as practices and meetings on the field. He maintains that trust and respect built through shared experiences form the foundation for the team’s long-term success.
Quickly earning the respect of his teammates, Williams was voted a team captain after he was drafted in 2024. The young quarterback became the first Bears rookie to be selected as a season-long captain.
Williams said in an interview that he gained confidence in Chicago’s offense because of consistent support from his teammates and coaches. He frequently describes his teammates as brothers, underscoring the close bonds formed in the locker room.
“Everything’s about the bond and the trust that you build between each other,” the team leader said. “That’s where the connection comes from because you can’t build something pretty special … without that bond, love and trust for your brothers.”

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams celebrates Cole Kmet’s birthday
On Tuesday, Williams celebrated tight end Cole Kmet’s birthday, reflecting the close bond among Bears players. He shared a tribute video on his Instagram story to honor his “brother.”
The clip showed Williams throwing a dramatic 14-yard touchdown pass to Kmet with 17 seconds left in regulation, forcing overtime. The play occurred during Chicago’s 20-17 playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Jan. 18. The Bears star added the words “Coley day” to the video.
The heartbreak of the Bears’ overtime loss in the divisional round does little to dim their historic year. Chicago completed one of the most impressive turnarounds in recent memory.
The Bears struggled through a difficult 2024 season, finishing with a record of 5–12. In 2025, they shattered expectations by closing the campaign with an 11-6 record and won the NFC North title. They also secured their first playoff victory in 15 years.
According to Williams, the camaraderie formed among the Bears’ players drives them toward their best performances. Those connections helped fuel last year’s remarkable turnaround. That same bond will remain vital as the Bears enter the 2026 season.
