The Chicago Bears hinted at trading wide receiver DJ Moore this offseason.

During the NFL combine last week, Bears general manager Ryan Poles was open about the situation with Moore before the start of free agency next week.
“So, I have nothing but great things to say about him,” Poles said. “But this is the time where we have to look at all the different scenarios and see what can allow us to put the best team we can put out there.
“There’s relationships there, there’s a lot there that makes it really, really difficult. He’s a guy we want here, but we have to look at all the different scenarios.”
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears are trading Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Chicago will receive a Day 2 pick for the veteran receiver.
“Sources: The Bears are trading veteran WR DJ Moore to the Bills, landing Josh Allen another weapon. It’s a mid-round pick compensation going back.

Chicago Bears receive low value for DJ Moore trade

The Bears needed to make the move to fill several holes on the offensive and defensive lines. The move will save a cap hit of $40 million over the next two seasons.
The Bears received DJ Moore in a trade from the Carolina Panthers that included two first-round picks, a 2023 second-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick for the 2023 No. 1 overall pick that would become Bryce Young.
In 2025, Moore caught 50 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns. He caught key touchdowns in the Bears’ wins over the Green Bay Packers in the regular season and wild-card round.
With Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze, and tight end Colston Loveland expected to play a greater role in head coach Ben Johnson’s offense, it made sense for the Bears to trade Moore.
However, a mid-round pick for the explosive receiver feels like a low sell for Chicago. But it needed to be done for a roster that has many needs in several areas, especially after the surprise retirement of center Drew Dalman.
