The Chicago Bulls are in a position where they have essentially thrown in the towel on this season. They have lost 12 of their previous 13 games and find themselves 12th in the Eastern Conference. While it is difficult for them to get some of the top odds for the 2026 NBA Draft, they are essentially looking to build up through the draft this offseason and see where things go from there. Let’s take a look at how one writer believes the season is going.
The Chicago Bulls received a ‘C’ grade for the third quarter of the NBA season

The Bulls have posted a 25-37 record so far, and have a clear vision for the future. Zach Harper of The Athletic seemingly agrees, as he posted his report card for the third quarter of the NBA season. Chicago was one of two Eastern Conference teams to receive a ‘C’ grade for their performance. However, he also mentioned the team is getting worse, but explained why in this snippet from the article below:
“Chicago. It’s by design, but the Bulls have really sunk into this tanking thing. They lost 11 straight games almost immediately, as they punted on the Play-In Tournament. They’re seeing which guards are worth keeping and praying they can get some real lottery luck to get a future star on the roster.”
He would also go on and mention how Chicago is the team in the Eastern Conference that needs the lottery luck the most. The Bulls need to figure things out this offseason, but can use the remainder of the season to see which players are going to be part of the rebuilding process. They have their own first-round pick and the Portland Trail Blazers’ first-round pick (top-14 protected), so they are in a position to get some talent and use their treasure trove of picks over the next few years to get this team back on track.
In terms of this season, Chicago needs to figure out their guard situation and which players they are going to choose to keep around to build for the future with.
