Was near a few weeks ago because they were so far out of it. At the right price, not including one of our top prospects, than a deal for
Keller would be decent. For the back end of the rotation. Colin Rea career average player with aspirations to be Javier Assad by average.

With a handful of Ace’s most likely becoming available to us soon Keller would have been a great back end addition with potential for mid end. Not at a great price at all though. 16.5mil next year 18 the next and 20 after that.

There are about 14 starters coming available soon, many of them signed in arbitration still through 2028 for real cheap and already better than Keller. They may obtain one of our top prospects.

The Keller deal was to unload money from the Pirates with one or two players with potential that have many years of team control left for very cheap.

Nobody has offered the Pirates a top prospect yet. Otherwise they would have jumped all over it.

Is it possible at the deadline if certain teams miss out on the other players better than Keller on better deals? Sure maybe. All the more reason the Pirates are waiting.

My hope is the league looks into this. Counsell’s two ejections have to get someone’s attention in the league’s office. The officiating in the Detroit game was so below acceptable, it literally changed the game by reshaping the strike zone, leaving the batters to figure out crazy place will be called a strike. To be fair, we all have seen players get upset at calls that were called correct. However, this umpire crew was unhinged and wanted no part of being second guessed on their mistakes. Nico asking the umpire if he had a bad day, or something similar, was in no way meriting ejection. Him and Counsell being tossed so quickly for that laughable comment is simply “thin skinned” on the part of the umpire crew. And no doubt the Cubs will run into this crew again.

The league office needs to intervene and assure that umpire crews are calling the game, not making the game’s outcome.

We’ve been to the playoffs since Grossman, took us to the Superbowl in 2006. Most recent playoff appearance in 2020. Williams is a shorter version of Justin Fields. In college he had a horrible record against top 25 teams. He held onto the ball too long in college and did most of his highlights outside the pocket. He fumbled the ball more times in college than JF and was sacked more times. He can’t make decisions beyond the 1st read. He was sacked a ton of times in the NFL and his game was the same. The most successful NFL qbs are pocket passers, which williams is not. Teams were high fiving each other when the Bears wasted the pick on him. Caleb Williams is at best 3rd round talent. His stats were padded AFTER the Bears had no chance of winning against 2nd string or Prevent defense. He’s a bust

Bagent should be the no #2 QB anyway, he has put in the time and went 2-4 in 2023 when Fields was out! Bagent has the stronger arm of the Bears QB position and that will go a long way! He’s accurate given the time too. He’s not a run 1st QB! He’s not very fast but has unexpected quickness! You’ll see!

I said not to draft this prima dona. It’s no different that the Shedeur Sanders debacle. Same exact player. Same exact drama. Same problems. Holds ball too long. Takes too many sacks. Takes too many hits. Not a leader just a vocal loudmouth. The moment he said he wanted part ownership of the team… that’s when the Bears should’ve flipped that pick and built their team. Caleb Williams and his Dad did NOT “go to Wickersham”, and the book is NOT ABOUT Caleb Williams! The book is about quarterbacks. Many quarterbacks. and Wickersham went to them. All of them.
Neither did Caleb, nor his Dad, cough up this information this week, nor this month, nor even this year! It takes a lot of time to write such a book!
