To say that Sophie Cunningham made a significant impact in her first season with the Indiana Fever would be an understatement.

The Fever traded for the 6-foot-1 guard ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, which saw Cunningham make the move from the Phoenix Mercury to Indiana. The former Missouri Tigers star had spent her first six seasons with the Mercury, and her trade to the Fever marked a crucial juncture in her career.

Before a season-ending knee injury cut her season with the Fever short, Cunningham was a solid contributor for her new squad. She averaged 8.6 points on 46.9% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 triples in 25.2 minutes per contest. Unfortunately, Cunningham tore the MCL in her right knee in August, putting an end to her campaign after 30 games.

Indiana Fever fans want Sophie Cunningham to stay

At this point, however, there is no guarantee that Cunningham will remain with the Fever in 2026. She is an unrestricted free agent, which means that she can sign with any other team she chooses. Given her incredible rise to fame in 2025, it would not be a surprise if multiple teams around the league show interest in signing Cunningham in free agency.

Cunningham’s “Show Me Something” podcast recently shared an update heading into the new season. The show posted a video of Cunningham dancing inside the Fever locker room, reminding fans that the WNBA season starts in five weeks.

The post generated a lot of excitement ahead of the new campaign. However, more than a few Fever supporters could not help but focus on Cunningham’s future in Indiana. They started pleading with both Cunningham and the Fever to extend her deal with the team.

“Yes đŸ™ŒđŸŒ We need Sophie to stay with the Fever đŸ”„” a comment on Instagram read.

“yes Sophie yessssssssss please Indiana fever we need Sophie!!!!!!! ❀❀❀❀” another said.

“@indianafever Please keep Sophie !!đŸ”„đŸ€đŸ˜Š” said another.

“Fever you need to keep Sophie. She’s an asset not a waist in any sort of way please keep her in this roster,” a reaction read.

Teams across the WNBA can officially start negotiating new deals with players starting Thursday.

Cunningham has been the enforcer for Fever teammates and was the steady shooter they relied on last year. Unfortunately, she suffered a season-ending injury during their game against the Connecticut Sun.

After a collision during the game, Cunningham tore her right MCL, effectively ending her season with the Fever. The seven-year veteran is currently a free agent, but Indiana fans are pushing to have her back next season.

Of course, Cunningham is also using the offseason to relax and recharge. She recently shared a video of herself swimming on the beach.

Clark is already a two-time WNBA All-Star and the recipient of the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Award. On top of that, she also led the assists in her first season in the league.

As for Miller, he spent his whole 18-year career with the Indiana Pacers. He averaged 18.2 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.1 steals per game his whole career. Reggie Miller speaks out about the infamous Caitlin Clark incident

The two Indiana legends appeared on NBC’s NBA pregame show for the New York Knicks vs the Los Angeles Lakers game on Feb. 1. The 24-year-old Fever star made her broadcasting debut as a guest commentator alongside the Pacers legend.

During the broadcast, Miller praised Clark as Indiana’s top shooter. He ranked Clark first, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton second, and himself third. However, the incident came right after Miller said who Clark reminds him of in the NBA.

The Pacers legend compared Clark to Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard. He said that the 28-year-old guard handles the ball well and makes big shots late in games. Miller said that Clark shared those traits and that she isn’t afraid of the big moments.

The statement drew the ire of WNBA and NBA fans alike.

Most recently, Clark made her second guest commentator appearance, joining another NBC Sports broadcast. The Fever guard was once again joined by the Pacers legend during the pregame show.

Miller jokingly addressed the incident during the pregame broadcast.

“You’re not gonna break our bond, people,” Miller said, referencing her much-talked-about Clark-Pritchard comparison. “Fever-Pacers, we’re bonded together.”

Clark and Miller will forever be tied together as Indiana greats. As for the 24-year-old Fever star, she still has many years ahead of her. There’s no denying that the future is looking bright for the Indiana superstar.

The 24-year-old sharpshooter averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists and shot 40.0% from three and 52.9% from the field. Clark was in the top five in scoring, and she led the tournament in assists. Team USA finished the qualifiers with a dominant 5-0 record.

The FIBA Qualifiers were Clark’s first time playing organized basketball since July 2025. She was sidelined by recurring injuries, playing only 13 games in the last WNBA season.

WNBA: Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark catches Travis Scott’s attention

Many Fever fans are waiting for the return of the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Most recently, she visited their home arena when the Indiana Pacers hosted the Los Angeles Lakers.

Aside from supporting the Pacers, Clark was also an official courtside photographer, snapping photos of the game.

On top of that, the Fever star posted the fit that she wore during the game via her official Instagram account. Clark shared a photo of herself walking along the Pacers’ sideline with a brown Prada bag in hand.

This turned a lot of heads on social media. It also caught the attention of rapper Travis Scott. “Cactus Jack” was left speechless on Clark’s fit and Prada bag. He had no words; instead, he used a couple of emojis to share his reaction.

“👀👀” commented Scott.

Scott is not a newbie in the world of fashion, as he has done many collaborations and partnerships with brands. He worked with the likes of Prada, Nike, BAPE, Audemars Piguet, Dior and many more.

Clark has a long-standing relationship with Prada, having been an ambassador since 2024. She was the first-ever WNBA or NBA player to be dressed by Prada for their draft night. On top of that, she was in attendance at Prada’s Fall 2026 Show at Milan’s Fashion Week.

The Fever star is drawing a lot of attention on and off the basketball court.

Indiana Fever All-Star Caitlin Clark emphatically announced her return to basketball. She did so by winning the Most Valuable Player award in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament earlier this month. The 24-year-old showed no rust following an eight-month injury layoff. She led Team USA to an unblemished 5-0 record in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

On Sunday, Clark put on a different hat. She resumed her role with NBC by making a guest appearance as an analyst in Sunday’s broadcast of the NBA game between the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder. This was Clark’s second time as a guest analyst for NBC. She made her sportscasting debut in January in a matchup between the Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden.

Clark immediately made waves after her decision to accept the role of a guest analyst for NBC. So much so that even the WNBA had to take notice.

The league took to social media to share its reaction to Clark’s offseason move.

“Look who’s back on the mic 🗣” the WNBA posted on X, sharing a collection of photos featuring the Fever star.

Clark was a natural behind the booth. She provided excellent insight, showcasing her wit and intelligence. At this point, it would not be a surprise if she makes more appearances as a broadcaster. In fact, this could be a potential career path for her once she’s done playing.

Clark still has a lot of basketball ahead of her, though. She is now entering her third season in the WNBA. After an injury-plagued second year, Clark is determined to make a bigger splash in 2026.

Caitlin Clark has been a household name in the WNBA since she joined the Indiana Fever in 2024. In fact, one could argue that she is Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James’ WNBA counterpart — at least in terms of their widespread fame.

The Indiana Fever star took the league by storm in her rookie season. She averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Clark also shot 34% from the three and 42% from the field.

The former Iowa Hawkeye took home the WNBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2024. She was also named a WNBA All-Star in her first two seasons in the league.

Similar to James, Clark was one of the most highly-touted rookies in their respective league. James was the top-ranked high school player in the country. He was the consensus top overall pick in the NBA Draft even before he graduated high school.

As for Clark, she was an absolute must-see player in collegiate basketball during her time in Iowa. Clark averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals with the Hawkeyes. She also broke “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record and became the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer among men’s or women’s players.

Currently, Clark and the Fever are enjoying the WNBA offseason. This is why Clark was in attendance when the Indiana Pacers hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

During the game, the Fever star acted as a courtside photographer, snapping a few shots of the Lakers star. She then shared her experience when Clark joined NBC’s broadcast of the New York Knicks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game on Sunday.

When asked what name she would give to the photo that she took, Clark simply replied, “The King.” She added, “That’s my GOAT.”

Clark also talked about a mishap involving James during the game.

“I swear we made eye contact,” she claimed. “So I set down the camera, and I smiled at him, and he just looked at me with a straight face. I was like, he didn’t even see me.”

Clark seemed a little bit embarrassed by her admission. She thought that James acknowledged her presence, only to be reminded that the Lakers superstar was totally locked in on the game.

The Fever also won the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup for the first time in franchise history. Unfortunately, Indiana lost to the Las Vegas Aces in the 2025 WNBA playoffs’ semifinals.

For Clark, the goal is to bounce back and lead Indiana to the promised land this 2026 season.

After an eventful offseason, Clark is now primed to get back on the court and lead the Fever in 2026.

Clark was named tournament MVP in the recently concluded FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Puerto Rico. She had a great outing for Team USA despite not playing organized basketball since July 2025. On top of that, Clark was in the top five in scoring, and she also led the whole tournament in assists.

Despite her time away from the basketball court, Clark still proved to be a key piece for their squad. She averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists while shooting 40% from the three and 52.9% from the field.

Caitlin Clark sets 2026 WNBA season goal for the Indiana Fever

The Fever star joined the broadcast for the New York Knicks vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder game on NBC Sports. During the broadcast, she shared her plans for the upcoming season and with the Fever.

Clark made a bold declaration about Indiana’s title hopes in 2026.

“I mean, we were trying to win it all last year, that’s certainly what we’re trying to do this year,” she stated.

The two-time WNBA All-Star also opened up about their roster challenges for the upcoming campaign.

“It’s a very unique situation. I think there’s over a hundred players in the league that are free agents,” she said. “So we really only know about five people, or three people that are going to be on our team next year. But I feel like we have a great core.”

The Iowa native also talked about their goals for the new WNBA season.

“So there’s nothing like playing for the Fever, I think we’re going to be the favorite to win it all,” Clark declared. “Adds a little pressure, but that’s what you love about it. We got a great squad, a great coach, great support staff, so it’s super-exciting.”

Clark is looking forward to getting back on the court and hopes to finally lead the Fever to a championship. Indiana last won a WNBA title in 2012, so Clark looks to end the 14-year drought.

Now, Clark enters the 2026 WNBA season refreshed and hungry. She looks to bounce back after an injury-riddled second season that limited her to just 13 games. Clark averaged 16.5 points and 8.8 assists in 2025.

Before the new season tips off on May 8, Clark made a recent appearance at an Indiana Pacers game. She was more than just a spectator.

WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark has just completed her first official senior international tournament for Team USA. She led the Stars and Stripes squad to an undefeated finish in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament earlier this month.

USA had a dominant performance in the qualifiers. In five games, they had a scoring difference of 210, leading the tournament. Team USA heads into the upcoming FIBA Women’s World Cup with a lot of momentum. It will be held in Germany in September of this year.

As for Clark, she dominated in her first senior national team experience. The Indiana Fever star led the tournament in assists with 6.4 a game. She was also in the top five in scoring as Clark finished with 11.6 points per game.

WNBA legend Diana Taurasi gives props to Caitlin Clark

Clark also shot well in the qualifiers, shooting 40% from the field and 52.9% from three. This is an impressive feat for the 24-year-old  as she hasn’t played organized basketball since July 2025.

Clark sustained recurring injuries during the 2025 season, limiting her to only 13 games. Despite that, she was still called up to represent Team USA in the qualifiers — and she didn’t disappoint.

Someone who knows a lot about representing the national squad is WNBA legend Diana Taurasi. She recently gave props to Clark and shared her thoughts on the Fever star’s future with the national team. Taurasi previously wore No. 12 for the U.S., the number Clark now dons for the Stars and Stripes.

“It’s so cool,” Taurasi said about Clark wearing No. 12 for Team USA. “I couldn’t think of anyone better to take it and to put it on and just have an amazing career.”

“No one better to wear the 12,” she added.

Taurasi is considered a USA basketball legend. She played in the WNBA for 20 years and represented the U.S. team since 2004.

“She had a great qualifiers in Puerto Rico,” Taurasi continued. “Caitlin’s gonna put gold medals on that jersey, I know it.”

Taurasi is no stranger to winning gold medals. She helped Team USA win six straight Olympic gold medals during her time. Clark has some big shoes to fill. But she has the backing of the WNBA legend, which gives Clark a lot of confidence heading into the World Cup in Germany.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark is coming off an impressive offseason tournament with Team USA. Clark was part of the squad that participated in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Puerto Rico. This is the first time she represented the USA senior national team.

Clark led the Stars and Stripes squad to a 5-0 finish, the only undefeated team in the tournament. The Indiana Fever star is one of five players to average double digits in scoring for Team USA.

On top of that, she led the qualifying tournament in assists with 6.4 a game. Not bad for Clark’s first senior national team experience — especially after coming back from an eight-month injury layoff.

WNBA: Caitlin Clark relives a special moment from college days

Even before entering the WNBA, Clark’s name was already buzzing because of her performance in the NCAA. The sharpshooting guard played four years of collegiate basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

In her four seasons with the Hawkeyes, Clark averaged 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists. She led Iowa to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Unfortunately, Clark and the Hawkeyes failed to win the NCAA title, despite playing in back-to-back national championship games in 2023 and 2024.

Clark dominated the collegiate basketball scene. She led the NCAA in both points and assists for three straight years. To top it all off, Clark is currently the NCAA Division I leading scorer. She broke “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record.

The former Hawkeye previously appeared in the podcast of WNBA legend Sue Bird, titled “Bird’s Eye View.” Clark made a personal admission about one of her most memorable moments in college.  This came in the form of her go-ahead shot against Indiana in her junior year.

“How can I leave that off?” Clark said. “That might have been one of, like, the first true — obviously, that was my junior year, and we go on to make the final four. But that like really kick-started everything.”

Clark made the statement in July last year. However, her comments resurfaced after the clip was reposted on Monday amid the buzz surrounding this year’s March Madness.

For Clark, this was the shot that put Iowa and her on the map. Fast forward to today. After leading Team USA to an unbeaten run in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Clark is now gearing up for a big year in the WNBA.

Sophie Cunningham could have had one of the best WNBA seasons in her first season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. However, in August, she suffered an MCL tear in her right knee, ending the season for her.

She incurred the injury following a collision in the second quarter of the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun.

Cunningham ended her season with the Fever, averaging 8.6 points on 46.9% from the field. The 6-foot-1 guard also shot 43.2% from the three-point area and added 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

The injury did not dampen Cunningham’s spirit as she joined teammate Caitlin Clark on the sidelines. They cheered and motivated the rest of the Fever as Indiana reached the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham visits New York as an unrestricted free agent

This offseason, as an unrestricted free agent, Cunningham has been keeping herself busy. Aside from continuing with her injury recovery, she’s also been very active on social media. She hosts the “Show Me Something” podcast alongside her long-time friend, West Wilson.

She recently stepped out in New York City as an ambassador of Quest Nutrition to host “The Grand Try” series. The series is a social-first elimination competition that features athletes from the USA Rugby team. Aside from that, the event also promoted the Quest Stacks Bars and Quest Crispy Protein Chips.

There’s certainly no lack of offseason activities for Cunningham, who is also looking forward to the 2026 WNBA season. While she has no official team yet, it is widely believed that Indiana would love to have her on their lineup again.

Cunningham established herself as the team’s enforcer while playing for the Fever. She became Clark’s staunch protector against their opponents. The Taekwondo black belt was even called for a flagrant foul and ejected against the Sun at one point in the season. This was after she had a physical altercation with Jacy Sheldon, who earlier in the game poked Clark in the eye.

Clark played collegiate basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2020 until 2024. In her four years, she averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals. Clark won numerous awards during her time as a Hawkeye.

Clark led the NCAA in assists for three straight years. She was also a three-time NCAA scoring leader. To top it all off, Clark is currently the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer among men’s or women’s players. She surpassed “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record, which remained unbroken for 54 years.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark turns heads amid NCAA March Madness

The 2026 NCAA tournament, a familiar place for the former Hawkeye, is currently ongoing. Clark participated in the NCAA tournament in her four years in college. Unfortunately, she failed to lead the Hawkeyes to victory.

Despite that, Clark pulled off unbelievable moments for Iowa during their NCAA tournament runs. One of the records that she holds is the 40 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds club. Only three people have had this stat line in the history of the NCAA.

Texas Longhorns small forward Madison Booker joined Clark in this elite group on Sunday. In their NCAA game against the Oregon Ducks, Booker finished with 40 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. She led Texas to a dominant 100-58 victory.

Despite Booker’s impressive feat, fans pointed out that Clark did this three times in her NCAA career.

“CC did it 3x and one of them was a triple double,” a user shared with a Clark GIF.

“3X. Man CC is 1 of 1,” said another.

“3x 😏😏😏” a fan said.

“3X!!!!!! Stop acting like it’s the same thing!” a user exclaimed.

“3X 💀💀💀” another reacted.

“And Caitlin did it not once not twice but three times now there’s a surprise NOT.. Ain’t it weird how all these achievements by so many different players the one player that they always seem to join is Caitlin Clark go figure,” a fan shared.

Clark has been impressive at every level she plays in. Because of her immense talent, it’s safe to say that fans will still enjoy the Caitlin Clark show for years to come.

Bueckers was part of the top 10 in scoring of the whole tournament. On top of that, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year was also in the top three in steals. This is her first time representing the senior national team, and she definitely made her mark.

As for the previous WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark was in the top five in points per game. To put the cherry on top, Clark also led the whole tournament in assists. This is also Clark’s first time suiting up for Team USA at the senior level.

However, this is not the first time that the two guards represented the USA at the same time. In the 2019 FIBA U-19 World Cup, Bueckers and Clark led Team USA to a gold medal finish.

The official Instagram account of the FIBA Women’s World Cup acknowledged the long-running partnership of the two. The account shared a post showing Bueckers and Clark during their 2019 tournament and the 2026 qualifiers.

The dust has barely settled on Caitlin Clark’s incredible run in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament. The Indiana Fever point guard was the star of the show for Team USA, earning Most Valuable Player honors after leading her squad to a 5-0 record in the qualifiers.

Clark made just one start across five games, but she still averaged a team-high 21.2 minutes per contest. The 6-foot guard put up 11.6 points on 52.9% shooting, while also leading the entire tournament in assists with 6.4 per game. Clark also knocked down 1.6 triples per contest on a highly efficient 40.0% clip.

WNBA: Caitlin Clark celebrates former teammates’ special day

Clark is now back in the United States following her memorable senior debut for USA Basketball. Right now, the 24-year-old is gearing up for the upcoming WNBA season. The league and the players’ union recently agreed on a new CBA, ensuring that the WNBA season in May will proceed as scheduled.

Clark, however, attended to a personal matter on Sunday. She took to social media to celebrate the birthday of former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate Jada Gyamfi. The Fever superstar sent an emotional message on Gyamfi’s special day.

“happy birthday jades … love you for lifeeee ❀❀❀❀” Clark wrote, sharing a photo of herself with Gyamfi via her Instagram stories.

Clark and Gyamfi spent two seasons together at Iowa. Gyamfi, a 6-foot-1 forward, joined the Hawkeyes in 2022, heading into Clark’s junior year. Gyamfi was part of the Clark-led squad that reached back-to-back national championship games in 2023 and 2024.

They may no longer be teammates and are currently miles apart, but it is clear that their friendship remains strong.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has been putting in the work to return to basketball shape this offseason.

Her first season alongside superstar Caitlin Clark was a promising one. She settled into her role as the team’s enforcer, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The seven-year vet also shot a career-high 43.2% from three-point range.

A torn MCL in August, however, limited her to just 30 games and ended her season early. Cunningham is eyeing a full comeback for the 2026 campaign.

Beyond her on-court workouts, she has kept herself busy off the hardwood to make sure she arrives at full strength for the new season.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham details challenging Pilates sessions during offseason recovery

Cunningham has been grinding in the gym this offseason, leaning on Pilates as a key part of her recovery and conditioning. In the latest episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast, the Fever guard put the spotlight on her Pilates instructor. Cunningham gave the shoutout during the show’s “Hot Girls of the Week” segment.

“It has to be my Pilates instructor. Her name is Taylor. She’s a freakin’ beast. She kicks my [expletive], and I feel so good. So I’m just shouting out Taylor for getting me into shape,” she said.

Co-host and childhood friend West Wilson quipped that he hoped Taylor wasn’t going easy on her. Cunningham was quick to set the record straight. She shared a story about a springs mishap that turned an already tough abs session into something else entirely.

“She doesn’t. Listen to this. She messed up the springs last time, and I was doing these abs, and I’m like, ‘Wow’! I took a couple of days off, but I felt like I couldn’t do anything. And she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t even do that.’ And she’s like a professional Pilates person. But she’s the best,” Cunningham added.

Sophie Cunningham has been in the WNBA for seven years now. She has spent six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and one season with the Indiana Fever. The Missouri alum is known for her sharpshooting abilities and tenacity on the court.

In her first season with the Fever, she averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals a game. On top of that, Cunningham was considered the squad’s enforcer, especially when some players bullied her teammates.

Cunningham’s toughness set the tone for the whole Fever squad, and her shooting kept them alive during clutch moments. However, her season was cut short because of a right knee injury that allowed her to play in only 30 games.

The former Missouri Tiger is taking her time in the offseason so she can come back in top shape next season.

Indiana had a great 2025 season, finishing with a 24-20 record, their best since 2015. On top of that, the Fever were the 2025 WNBA Commissioners Cup champions. Unfortunately, they were beaten by the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.

As for Cunningham, she has been working on her recovery this offseason — even losing 16.5 lbs this summer. Despite that, the 6-foot-1 guard is still enjoying the offseason. She took up a new sport, pickleball, and recently attended a NASCAR race in partnership with Arby’s.

Cunningham also has her own podcast named “Show Me Something.” In a recent episode, the Fever guard shared her dating preferences.

The topic was guys dating taller women, and Cunningham, who is 6-foot-1, revealed her honest opinion on it.

“I don’t think I’m the right tall person to ask,” Cunningham said. “Because I can never date someone shorter than me.”

Cunningham gave her thoughts about dating men who are smaller than her.

“Because I already feel big,” she added. “So, I like someone that’s going to make me feel smaller.”

In a recent TikTok post, Cunningham also shared sentiments about the personalities of tall women. It’s safe to assume that, as a tall person, she can be considered an authority on this topic.

The 24-year-old is averaging 12.8 points and 6.3 assists across four games.

Clark has grown more comfortable with each outing, delivering her best performance yet against New Zealand. In her first start on Sunday, the two-time WNBA All-Star rewarded interim coach Nate Tibbetts’ trust with 14 points and six assists in 23 minutes of action.

Her stellar play has not gone unnoticed. FIBA has taken note of her impact at the tournament.

WNBA: Caitlin Clark among MVP candidates for FIBA qualifying tournament award

FIBA selected standout players from each participating nation as candidates for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player Award. The governing body released an online fan poll, announcing the nominees with a graphic on its official Instagram account.

“Insane level of talent here. Who’s been your San Juan MVP?” the caption read.

Clark’s devoted fans flooded the comment section. “CC leading Team USA in points, assists and +/- is the only correct answer,” one wrote.

Another kept it simple: “It’s CC with the best stats so that should be the MVP.”

Others were more direct. “Caitlin Elizabeth Clark!” a fan declared. “CC all day every day!” another added.

Some users also showed love for Clark’s Team USA teammates. “CCđŸ™Œâ€ PBđŸ”„đŸ™Œâ€ but props to the whole team. ❀RH as well,” one commenter wrote.

Another made the case for Paige Bueckers: “PB, all around most impactful and highest effort level on USA. Makes a difference in ways that don’t show up on any stat sheet as well.”

As of writing, Bueckers leads the fan vote with over 86,000 votes. The Dallas Wings guard has averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists across four games.

Clark sits in second place with over 66,000 votes. The MVP will be announced following Team USA’s final group game against Spain on Tuesday.

Caitlin Clark made her first start for Team USA in Sunday’s 101-46 rout of New Zealand at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

The Indiana Fever guard made the most of the opportunity, posting 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting while knocking down 2-of-7 from three. She also shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Beyond her scoring, Clark’s court vision and unselfishness stood out. She dished out a team-high six assists in 23 minutes of action.

Team USA improved to 4-0 and enters its final game against Spain on Tuesday. Not everyone, however, was pleased with Clark’s promotion to the starting lineup.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark’s first Team USA start sparks debate online

Prior to tip-off against New Zealand, Team USA posted a graphic revealing its starting lineup. It featured Clark in the starting five for the first time, alongside Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, Monique Billings and Dearica Hamby. The post generated significant buzz in the comment section, drawing both praise and pushback.

Clark fans are now facing backlash on social media after supposedly forcing Team USA’s hand.

One commenter took aim at Clark’s supporters, suggesting the online pressure had paid off. “The crying y’all did finally work Clark is starting,” the user wrote.

Others echoed the sentiment. “Goodness I’m so glad this woman got a start so some of y’all can finally be satisfied,” one noted.

Another added: “I’m sure this will calm the savages a little.”

Another urged fans to keep perspective: “Everyone gets a chance to start if you haven’t noticed đŸ€ŁđŸ˜ yall doing too much in the comments. Just enjoy basketball!!!”

A third weighed in on her style of play: “Caitlin is the only pass first player. They all have court vision. Interesting statistics performance.”

The back-and-forth reflects the broader reality of Team USA’s approach under interim coach Nate Tibbetts. The squad has been rotating lineups throughout the tournament, testing different combinations to find the most effective unit ahead of the World Cup in Berlin.

Whether Clark holds her spot in the starting lineup against Spain on Tuesday remains to be seen.

Clark then became the No.1 overall pick of the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She won the Rookie of the Year award, was named an All-Star and was the league leader in assists in her debut season. The Fever star currently has career shooting averages of 32.9% from three and 40.5% from the field.

Unfortunately, she was injured for most of her second season, playing in only 13 games.

Amid her injury, the sharpshooting guard used the offseason to get back into shape. This led USA Basketball to invite Clark to participate in the training camp in preparation for the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

Clark made the cut for the final squad, marking her first time representing the USA senior national team. In her first game for Team USA, she scored 17 points and dished out 12 assists in 19 minutes. She also had a near-perfect game, missing only one shot from the field.

In their latest game against Italy, Clark led the USA in scoring with 12 points (tied with Paige Bueckers). One of Clark’s highlights was posted on an Instagram video by the official FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup account.

The slow-mo video of Clark’s long-range triple gained multiple positive reactions from fans online.

“And them Kobe 5s are HITTING đŸ˜â€â€ a comment said about Clark’s shoes.

“Girrrrlll! đŸ”„đŸ”„â€ a supporter exclaimed.

Clark is third in the tournament scoring, tied with Bueckers. She is also leading the qualifiers in assists per game.

With two more games left for Team USA, a lot of eyes are on Clark to maintain her incredible form.

WNBA and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is currently in Puerto Rico representing the USA in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Back home, she is one of the most well-known names in basketball. Since her arrival in the big leagues, each of her games has become must-watch TV.

Before wearing the stars and stripes and turning professional, Clark was setting the collegiate basketball scene on fire. Clark played NCAA basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes. In her four seasons there, she averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Clark also beat “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s 54-year scoring record of 3,667 points. Unfortunately, she came up short of winning an NCAA championship for the Hawkeyes.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark praises a new champion

Despite failing to win a collegiate title with the Hawkeyes, her contributions solidified her status as an Iowa basketball legend. In her four years with Iowa, Clark never had a scoring average lower than 26 points per game.

On top of that, Clark won multiple awards during her collegiate career. She was a three-time NCAA season assists leader and scoring leader. To put the cherry on top, Clark’s No.22 jersey was retired by the Hawkeyes.

Not only that, but the state of Iowa declared February 22 as “Caitlin Clark Day” across the whole state.

In an episode of one of the longest-running game shows in the US, “Jeopardy!”, Clark was the topic of the final round.

The “Jeopardy!” question states, “The Iowa legislature passed a resolution declaring February 22, 2024, her day across the state.”

A contestant named Luke Henson answered, “Who is Caitlin Clark?” His answer got him the win and $16,798 in prize money.

This moment was shared by the official “Jeopardy!” Instagram account.

Clark commented on this post with a three-word statement as Henson was declared the new “Jeopardy!” champion.

“Luke is him,” the Fever star commented.

Clark’s star power and firepower on the basketball court made her well known even outside basketball. It’s safe to say that there’s a lot more to come from the young, sharpshooting guard from Des Moines.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been balling out for Team USA this WNBA offseason. In her first-ever experience with the USA senior national team, Clark is leading the squad in scoring and assists.

Clark is coming off an injury that limited her to only 13 games in the last WNBA season. She has not played organized basketball for nearly eight months. Clark’s last game was against the Connecticut Sun in July.

Despite that, Clark was still called up to represent Team USA. The sharpshooting guard has been playing well in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament. So far, Team USA has won three games, with two more left on its schedule.

Caitlin Clark faces Angel Reese backlash during Team USA game

In her last three games, Clark has been averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 assists. She is also shooting an efficient 62.5% from the field and 53.8% from three. In Clark’s Team USA debut, she scored 17 points and had 12 assists.

However, in their game against Puerto Rico, she was in a bit of a slump. Clark only scored eight points. She was also inefficient, shooting 33% from the field and only 20% from three. On top of that, she drew a lot of flak. A video from the game showed Clark apparently ignoring Angel Reese’s high-five attempt.

This drew a lot of attention online, criticizing Clark’s behavior towards her Team USA teammate.

“Why is she ignoring her @grok? Do they have beef,” a user commented.

“Hella disrespectful and that does look intentional sadly,” a viewer added.

“How would you tell me she didn’t see that hand?” a comment said along with a funny meme.

“That’s a character flaw on her, dont matter if you dont like someone or not, when you represent the Star and stripes you band together. She obviously still salty about not winning the natty,” a reaction read.

“I get it.  But you’re currently on the same team.  Clark needs to take the high road, be the good person regardless…doing so invalidates all of the prior shade Reese has thrown at you.  Don’t be like her, that gives Reese credibility in the eyes of those who want to doubt you,” another said.

“I can’t see CC leaving her teammate hanging like that. But I admit, it’s not a good look,” a supporter declared.

The rivalry between Clark and Reese goes way back to their collegiate basketball days. It extended when they turned pro. Despite that, both stars are now considered the “face of the league.”

Now that they’re teammates for Team USA, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie praised their partnership for the national team. Either way, both Reese and Clark will be the future of the WNBA and the USA National Team.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark has taken the basketball world by storm since her collegiate days. Currently, the sharpshooting guard is representing Team USA at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico.

With the Indiana Fever, Clark is already a two-time All-Star, a Rookie of the Year winner and an All-WNBA first-team member. She led the league in assists during her rookie season, averaging 8.4 assists. Unfortunately, a slew of recurring injuries kept her out for most of her second year. Clark only played in 13 games during the 2025 season.

Despite that, the former Iowa Hawkeye has been making good progress in her recovery. Clark has been called up to be part of Team USA’s squad for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Caitlin Clark still coming off bench for Team USA

Even though Clark is coming off an injury, she was still selected to represent Team USA. This is the first senior national team selection for the Fever guard. Clark had the chance to be part of Team USA’s 2024 Summer Olympics squad. Unfortunately, she was playing in the NCAA tournament during that time.

In her first game for Team USA in the World Cup qualifiers, Clark showed that she’s not rusty. She came off the bench and finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points and dishing out 12 assists. The Fever guard also shot 80% from the field and 100% from the free-throw line.

In three games, Clark is averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 assists. She is tied with Paige Bueckers as the leading scorer for Team USA. Clark also leads the tournament in assists and ranks third in scoring.

Despite her strong play, Clark has yet to start this tournament. Team USA is now facing intense backlash for its decision to leave out the Fever star from the starting lineup.

“For a third straight game, Caitlin Clark is still not starting. Every player on this team has started except Caitlin Clark and Burrell. Absolutely disgraceful. 🚹🚹🚹🚹🚹” a comment on X read.

“It can’t be good for her to warm up and then go sit for 10 or 15 minutes,” a user said.

“They make her spend more time on the bench
SMH!” a fan commented.

“She’s not a damn role player. She’s one of the one. Best PG in the nation. Her talent is from another dimension and they don’t utilize her talent for it,” a supporter mentioned.

“But she is the best player. Odd,” another said.

“I used to think [Kara Lawson] was a great coach
not anymore,” declared a viewer.

Clark still has two chances to start when they play against New Zealand and Spain. Either way, Clark is still one of the three players who are averaging 20 minutes per game. She is also leading Team USA in scoring, so her impact is undeniable.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is taking her signature flair to the world stage.

Clark’s second year in the WNBA was difficult. Multiple lower-body injuries limited her to just 13 games, but she still averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.

That was enough to earn her a spot on Team USA for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

Now fully healthy, Clark is wasting no time finding her groove. Her second outing for Team USA against Puerto Rico on Thursday showed flashes of the player the basketball world knows her to be.

WNBA: Team USA salutes Caitlin Clark’s logo three-pointer against Puerto Rico

Team USA drubbed host Puerto Rico 91-48 at the Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan on Thursday. Paige Bueckers led the way with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Angel Reese added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Clark came off the bench in her return from an injury-riddled year with the Fever. She finished with eight points on 2-of-6 from the field and 1-of-5 from three, adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 18 minutes of play.

Her best moment came with roughly 1:30 left in the third quarter. Her defender backed off, leaving Clark several steps behind the three-point line. She did not need an invitation.

The two-time All-Star used a hesitation dribble and step-back to create space and launched a shot near the logo. It hit nothing but net, a familiar sight for Fever fans.

Team USA’s official Instagram account captured the moment with a fitting statement.

“CC calls check mate ♟” Team USA posted on Instagram.

It is good to see Clark finding her rhythm and doing what she does best. She figures to be a major weapon for Team USA. The Americans set their sights on winning gold at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin this September.

Clark and Reese are two of the most recognizable players in the WNBA today. Since joining the league in 2024, they have been touted as the new faces of the WNBA. Clark is known for her prolific scoring, while Reese earned a reputation for her tenacity and rebounding.

This time around, the young stars are representing the same team — the United States of America. Clark and Reese are part of Team USA’s lineup for the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament.

Clark is wearing number 12 for Team USA, while Reese is donning the number 9. Their jersey numbers are reminiscent of two Team USA legends — Diana Taurasi and Leslie.

On social media, Leslie shared a post highlighting both duos. The WNBA icon added a caption to her Instagram story.

The duo of Clark and Reese still has a long way to go. This is the first time for both stars to suit up for the USA’s senior national team. And, compared to Leslie, they have four Olympic golds and two World Cup golds to catch up to.

Either way, the future of Team USA’s women’s team is in good hands.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is putting in the work ahead of what promises to be a massive 2026 WNBA campaign.

A torn MCL forced the 29-year-old to play just 30 games in her first year alongside Caitlin Clark.

Her impact was immediate. Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game, shooting a career-high 43.2% from 3-point range.

Now, bigger things are expected from Indiana’s beloved enforcer in year two. The Fever finished 24-20 last season and reached the WNBA semifinals. Cunningham is a key piece of their plans to go even further. This offseason, she is doing everything in her power to live up to those expectations.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham opens up about physically and mentally demanding road to full recovery

Cunningham has kept herself plenty busy this offseason. Away from the hardwood, she launched the 1st Annual Sophie Cunningham Golf Classic. The Fever guard has also kept her “Show Me Something” podcast rolling, releasing new episodes weekly.

Still, above everything else, Cunningham has made her knee rehabilitation the top priority. Getting back to full strength after a serious surgical procedure is no easy task, physically or mentally.

Cunningham has been transparent about the grind. She recently posted a TikTok clip of herself, out of breath and drenched in sweat. She gave fans an unfiltered look at what the process demands.

“Ok, I’m dying. I just did a mountain for conditioning for the first time since college,” she said in the clip. “And if you don’t know that, God bless your soul. But it’s — you start at one sprint, two down the backs, two down backs, all the way to 10. And then once you get the 10, you go to 10. And then you go nine down backs, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. And I’m like, officially dying, holy cow.”

The seven-year WNBA veteran added, “There’s certain things in sports that never get easier. And conditioning is one of them. Officially dying.”

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has taken the WNBA by storm since she arrived. The sharpshooting guard is already a two-time WNBA All-Star and a Rookie of the Year winner. On top of that, she is also one of the most well-known names in basketball.

Even before going professional, Clark had already caught the attention of the basketball world. During her years as an Iowa Hawkeye, she broke the all-time NCAA Division I scoring record among men and women. She surpassed “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s 54-year record of 3,667 points.

Unfortunately for Clark, she had a down year in her second season. She was riddled with injuries that caused her to play only 13 games.

Despite her injury-riddled second year in the WNBA, Clark was still chosen to represent the United States National Basketball team.

Clark last suited up for the USA Women’s National team during the FIBA U-19 World Cup in Hungary. She helped the squad win the gold medal in the 2021 tournament. She also had an opportunity to get her first senior squad experience in 2024.

The six-foot guard was invited to participate in the national training camp for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Unfortunately, she was playing in the NCAA tournament at the time and wasn’t able to participate.

This time around, Clark was named to the team and participated in their training camp in December. Despite being away from organized basketball for nearly eight months, she was named to the final roster.

Team USA officially announced Clark via an Instagram post.

Clark will be representing the USA Women’s national team in the FIBA World Cup qualification tournament in Puerto Rico.

In her first experience for the senior team, Clark will don the number 12. Clark was shown wearing her USA threads in the post.

The official Fever account sent a message to Clark ahead of her Team USA debut.

“CC ready, let’s goooo đŸ”„â€ the Fever commented.

Clark’s participation in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers is a good litmus test of her recovery. This will also help her gauge her conditioning before the new WNBA season. Fever fans are watching closely and cheering on as they are eager to get their superstar back on the court.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark has been sidelined for nearly eight months due to an injury she suffered last year. Despite that, she was still named an All-Star in her second season in the league.

In just her rookie year, she took the WNBA by storm. Clark was the first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft. She averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists in her first year. Clark won the Rookie of the Year award as she led the Indiana Fever to a 20-20 record.

Clark immediately brought the winning mentality to Indiana. She led the team to their first winning record and playoff appearance since 2016.

Unfortunately, her injury caused her to only play in 13 games last season. Since then, she has been busy working hard to get back on the court as soon as she can.

Caitlin Clark gets ready for big career move outside WNBA

Even though she was sidelined last season, Clark was still a big asset to women’s basketball. Which is why she was called up to the USA Women’s National Basketball team. In December 2025, she participated in her first senior national training camp.

However, this wasn’t her first opportunity to play for the senior national team. She received an invitation to the 2024 Summer Olympics training camp. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend because she was playing in the NCAA that year.

Fast-forward to 2026, and Clark has been selected to represent the United States at the FIBA World Cup qualification tournament in Puerto Rico. This will be her first time representing Team USA at the seniot level. She previously played for the U.S. in the FIBA U-19 World Cup.

“I don’t want to call it nerves but excitement to play,” Clark said after practice on Monday. “This is a different stage. You’re not going to come out here and be the star player. That’s not how it’s going to be for USA Basketball.”

This will be Clark’s first organized basketball action since her injury. She shared that she feels 100% healthy but admits that it will take time to feel like herself again.

“I feel like I’ve put myself in the best possible shape I could be in at this point,” Clark. “The first game is the hardest, but once you get in kind of a flow of things, you figure things out.”

There is no better way for Clark to test her readiness than the national stage. Both Fever and WNBA fans will be tuned in to see her back in action.

For the first time in nearly eight months, the most talked-about name in women’s basketball returns to a competitive court. Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is officially making her U.S. senior national team debut this week at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

Team USA will face Senegal at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Fever guard makes her debut on the court following a rigorous rehabilitation process. Clark last played a competitive game on July 15, when she injured her right groin. A series of lower-body injuries limited her to 13 games during the 2025 WNBA season.

WNBA: Fever celebrate Caitlin Clark’s debut for Team USA

The Fever celebrated Clark’s senior national team debut by posting several photos of her in international uniform on Instagram.

In the caption, the Fever shared its reaction to joining a new team during the WNBA offseason.

Photos show a notable change in Clark’s jersey. Fans familiar with her trademark No. 22 saw her wearing No. 12 instead.  The change stems from traditional FIBA regulations, which require players to wear jersey numbers from 4 to 15.

This rule was originally intended to help referees signal fouls clearly, avoiding confusion with lower numbers like 1, 2 or 3. FIBA eliminated the rule in 2014, but USA Basketball still uses numbers 4–15 to preserve tradition.

In a recent interview, Clark said wearing the U.S. jersey carries special meaning because of the program’s history and legendary players.

“This is my first time on the senior national team, so that poses a different aspect,” the two-time WNBA All-Star said. “I feel like I was just a young girl that was watching these senior national teams or watching the teams at the Olympics or the World Cup and, obviously now being 24 and being able to put on this jersey.

“You know, any person that’s on this team, or ever has an opportunity to wear this jersey – how many amazing players have put this jersey on before you, and the dominance that they’ve had – whether it’s the World Cup qualifier, the World Cup, or, you know, the Olympics,” she added.

Clark, Team USA Preparing for FIBA World Cup

From March 11 to 17, 24 national teams will be competing in four global qualifying tournaments. Each tournament features six teams. In Puerto Rico, the field includes Team USA, host nation Puerto Rico, Italy, Spain, Senegal, and New Zealand. Other tournaments will take place in Turkey, France and China.

These qualifying games will determine the remaining 11 spots at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Berlin, Germany, from Sept. 4 to 13. They will also serve as a critical evaluation period for players eyeing the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.

Four teams have already secured 2026 World Cup entry by winning their respective tournaments. The 2025 continental champions earning direct entry are Belgium (EuroBasket Women), the United States (AmeriCup), Australia (Asia Cup), and Nigeria (AfroBasket). Germany qualified automatically as the host.

These teams are still playing in the qualifying tournaments to prepare for the World Cup in Berlin, while others fight for spots.

Clark is no stranger to international competition. She played in the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2019 and 2021, winning gold in both tournaments. The Fever standout was named the tournament’s MVP in her second appearance.

Caitlin Clark has never limited her sporting interests to the hardwood. The Indiana Fever guard and two-time All-Star keeps a close eye on the NFL and reacted to a major league update.

Clark is currently rehabbing this offseason after a grueling 2025 WNBA campaign. Three separate injuries limited the former Iowa Hawkeyes star to just 13 games.

Even so, she dazzled when healthy, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.

The Fever finished the regular season 24-20 and made a remarkable playoff run, advancing to the semifinals.

Off the court, Clark’s star power has drawn her into orbit with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.

WNBA: Caitlin Clark reacts to Travis Kelce returning to Kansas City Chiefs

One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason centered on Travis Kelce’s future. Retirement talks loomed large for the 36-year-old tight end as he headed into unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career.

The Chiefs kept Kelce in Kansas City, signing him to a one-year deal worth $12 million, with a maximum value of $15 million.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news Monday morning. Clark, a Chiefs fan, reposted the announcement on her Instagram Stories.

The post read: “Breaking: Travis Kelce is expected to return for his 14th season with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to NFL Network. The 3X Super Bowl champ is BACK.”

Clark’s connection to Kelce runs deeper than just fandom. The Des Moines native is also a self-described Swiftie. She first met Kelce’s fiancĂ©e, pop superstar Taylor Swift, at the Eras Tour, and their friendship blossomed.

Swift and Kelce invited Clark to watch a Chiefs game live. The Fever star sat side-by-side with Swift in a suite during the AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Houston Texans in January 2025.

With Kelce back in Kansas City, another suite appearance at Arrowhead Stadium could be on the horizon for the Fever star.

Beyond her on-court production, the 29-year-old’s magnetic personality and sharp wit made her one of the league’s most beloved figures. Fans gravitated toward her instantly.

Now, she is taking that momentum far beyond the basketball court. Cunningham recently shared her latest accomplishment with followers online, proving she is far more than just a professional athlete.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham promotes podcast billboard in NYC

Cunningham has always had a natural command in front of a camera. That comfort dates back to her time as a recurring TV analyst for the Phoenix Suns. It carried over seamlessly when she joined Indiana.

In recent years, Cunningham has fully embraced the podcasting world. She co-hosts “Show Me Something” alongside childhood friend and Bravo’s Summer House star West Wilson.

Now, the show has reached a new milestone. Cunningham recently celebrated a billboard promoting the podcast near Madison Square Garden in New York City. She shared a photo of the massive ad via her Instagram stories.

Few locations carry more weight in sports and entertainment. The area surrounding MSG draws millions of visitors each year, putting the “Show Me Something” brand in front of a massive audience.

Currently, Cunningham is recovering from a torn MCL she suffered in August. Still, she has plenty of athletic years ahead of her.

In the meantime, she continues to capitalize on every opportunity the offseason brings. Her bright mind, deep basketball knowledge and larger-than-life personality already make her a natural fit for a long future in broadcasting and podcasting.

Even with her professional success, Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has maintained strong ties to her Missouri roots. The 29-year-old guard, from Columbia, played college basketball at the University of Missouri from 2015 to 2019.

Cunningham became one of the most successful players in Missouri Tigers history. She earned multiple All-SEC honors during that period. She also finished her college career with 2,187 points, the most ever scored in Missouri women’s basketball history.

The 6-foot-1 guard was drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2019. This marked the highest draft position ever for a Mizzou player. After six seasons with Phoenix, she joined the Indiana Fever in 2025. She immediately emerged as a team leader and top performer.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham thrilled by Missouri basketball crowd

Despite her WNBA success, Cunningham has always remembered her college basketball career. On Saturday, she shared her excitement while watching the Missouri crowd at the men’s basketball game. Her message included a personal admission that she’s missed college basketball.

“This Mizzou crowd is ELITE! Ahhh how I’ve missed the college atmosphere 🐯,” Cunningham wrote on X.

Saturday’s game between Missouri and the Arkansas Razorbacks delivered a closely contested Southeastern Conference matchup. The contest extended into overtime, where Arkansas ultimately defeated Missouri 88-84 in a tense, high-stakes finish.

Missouri’s crowd stayed energetic throughout the game, keeping fans on edge as both teams exchanged leads multiple times. The passionate atmosphere reflected the excitement Cunningham fondly remembers from her own playing days at Missouri.

With the Fever, the former Tigers standout quickly earned a reputation as a tough, versatile guard contributing on both ends. Her toughness showed clearly during Indiana’s June 17 matchup against the Connecticut Sun. Tensions escalated in the third quarter after Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and Fever star Caitlin Clark exchanged words following a hard foul.

Another Sun player, Marina Mabrey, then shoved Clark to the floor, further escalating the game’s intensity. Fans believed Cunningham retaliated by grabbing Sheldon’s head as the Sun player attempted a layup.

The former Missouri star suffered a knee injury during an August 17 game against the Sun. Cunningham was later diagnosed with a torn right MCL, forcing her to miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Cunningham, now an unrestricted free agent, hinted at the possibility of leaving Indiana to seek the highest possible contract.

On top of that, Cunningham was a major contributor to the Fever during their WNBA Commissioners Cup title run. Unfortunately, her season was cut short to just 30 games after she tore her right MCL. During the game against the Connecticut Sun, guard Bria Hartley fell into Cunningham’s leg when she drove to the paint.

In her recovery period this offseason, Cunningham shared that she lost a lot of weight. She now weighs 148.5lbs, down 16.5lbs from her listed weight of 165lbs.

Sophie Cunningham is loving pickleball during the WNBA offseason

Despite her injury, Cunningham still plays many sports as she rehabilitates her knee. Most recently, she took a liking to pickleball, joining the craze of the fastest-growing sport in the country.

Cunningham sent a warning on her Instagram story saying, “When I retire, it’s over for you children.”

In a more recent story, Cunningham reshared a post from the Arizona-based pickleball club Electric Pickle.

On top of that, she also posted on her own Instagram story. In the post, Cunningham is holding a pickleball and a pickleball paddle with the caption, “Confirmed. I’d kick [expletive] in this sport, plus my fav part, you get a tan while playing!!”

Cunningham still has a lot of gas in the tank, but she has definitely found a sport that she loves outside of basketball. The seven-year veteran is expected to be a big piece for the Fever’s 2026 WNBA season. Her toughness on the court will definitely help set the pace for Indiana as they aim to win the WNBA championship.

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham shares upsetting news

On top of her podcast, Cunningham regularly shares the latest happenings via her Instagram. She has shared her offseason activities, such as attending NASCAR events and her rehab journey from injury.

Most recently, she shared a post from former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and the Tim Tebow Foundation. The post talked about kids’ safety amid rising concerns of pedophilia.

“We are losing the battle and we are losing the war and boys and girls are suffering from it,” Tebow said. “Every red dot that is on there is someone that is downloading, sharing, or distributing child rape images – almost all under the age of 12.”

Tebow added that they know that 55% to 85% are also hands-on offenders, and the average offender has 13 victims in their lifetime.

“The scale of harm right here in America is, to a certain extent, hard to comprehend. But that’s why we’re here,” he said.

The former NFL quarterback also shared a disturbing story about one of their operations.

“One of the doors that was knocked down, when they went in and seized his computer, they found that he also had raped 30 other boys and girls in THAT neighborhood,” he shared.

Cunnigham reshared the post to her Instagram story. She also commented on the post, saying, “RESHARE! How can we help?”

Unfortunately, Cunningham’s season was cut short because of an injury she suffered against the Connecticut Sun. She tore her right MCL after Connecticut guard Bria Hartley drove to the lane and stumbled onto Cunningham’s right leg.

Cunningham has been recovering this offseason as she prepares to enter her eighth year in the league. She has lost a lot of weight as she gets into shape after her brutal injury. Despite that, Cunningham is looking to put on some punds before the season starts.

Sophie Cunningham shares a controversial comment during the WNBA offseason

Unfortunately, some WNBA athletes are forced to conform to societal norms as they grow up. WNBA players are usually taller and a bit heavier than other women their age. Being taller and stronger is often associated with masculinity, while being smaller is usually aligned with femininity.

As for Cunningham, she was always on the tall side of the chart. She is currently listed at 6-foot-1, and she is known for her physicality on the court. The Columbia, Missouri, native recently shared her thoughts about tall women on TikTok.

In the video, Cunningham was wearing workout clothes with an overlaying text saying “we had to bc we were bigger than all the boys growing up.”

On top of that, she also added audio and mouthed the words “I’m gonna say something controversial.”

“I think tall women have better personalities than shorter women, and the reason is because I said so.” she added.

This garnered multiple reactions on her post with a mix of positive, uplifting and disagreeing comments.

“And I believe you!!” one user said.
