The Chicago Bears have won four straight games for the first time since 2018. Chicago beat the New Orleans Saints 26-14 in a performance that was mainly dominated by Dennis Allen and the Bears’ defense.

Head coach Ben Johnson has done wonders for this football team. It’s clear if it was any other previous coaching staff, the Bears lose this game. While it was ugly offensively, a win is a win in the NFL. Here are three takeaways from Week 7’s win over the Saints.

Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen was able to dominate Spencer Rattler and the Saints. The Bears’ defense was able to pressure rattler early, forcing a fumble on the second play of the game. Rattler ended the game with three interceptions and was sacked four times.

This defense has turned around completely following their week 2 collapse in Detroit. Chicago’s defense has had 3 or more takeaways in all four wins this season and leads the NFL in takeaways with 16.

The pass rush has finally started to see some light, in particular Montez Sweat is finally making plays. The secondary has been playing great football, even without Jaylon Johnson.

The #Bears defense in their four-game winning streak:

• 8 interceptions
• 10 sacks
• 19 PPG allowed
• 11-for-37 on third-down conversions (29.7% rate allowed)
• No 100-yard receivers allowed

Caleb Williams had one of his worst games as a Bear

Caleb Williams had arguably the best game of his young career on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys

It was clear as day that Williams seemed very off on Sunday. The Bears’ quarterback did not throw a touchdown pass, threw for 172 yards, and threw a really bad interception. The passing game clearly needs to improve on all levels.

The biggest issue for the second-year quarterback was consistency. Williams took too long to throw on multiple plays, missed simple layup plays, and was often inaccurate. These games do happen, however Williams needs to turn it around next week facing an angry Baltimore Ravens defense with a potential returning Roquan Smith.

Thankfully, the Bears were able to put up plenty of points still due to a second straight great performance from the running game.

For a second straight week, the Bears were able to finally dominate on the ground game. D’Andre Swift ran for 124 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown. Swift averaged 6.5 yards per carry and was on fire throughout the game.

Rookie Kyle Monangai also put up 81 yards on 13 carries and was able to get his first career touchdown.

The Bears’ run blocking was fantastic yet again, specifically on the right side. Right tackle Darnell Wright dominated on his side, giving the run game plenty of chances to make plays.

It’s clear that the offense still needs work in regards to the passing game, they also need to clean up the little errors. The offensive line had some horrible false starts. Drew Dalman also had issues snapping the football at times during the game. However, a win is indeed a win.

The Bears will look to continue their winning streak next week against the Baltimore Ravens, who should have a returning Lamar Jackson back.
