The Chicago Bears have some valuable assets they are ready to use during the 2026 NFL Draft. With the draft being exactly one month away, the team is figuring out what direction they want to go. Chicago holds four of the top 90 picks in this draft, but what is the team’s most valuable trade asset? Let’s take a closer look at one outlet believes is their best trade asset right now.
The Chicago Bears’ most valuable asset is Jaylon Johnson
Pro Football Focus’s John Kosko wrote an article explaining what each team’s most valuable trade asset is. Some teams have players while others have draft picks. For Chicago, cornerback Jaylon Johnson is listed. Below is what Kosko wrote about this being the top asset the Bears can move:
“Johnson is three years removed from an elite season that earned him a massive contract extension. He followed that campaign by ranking fifth among cornerbacks in PFF advanced coverage grade. However, in 2025, he fell outside the top 32 as the entire secondary struggled with consistency when not generating turnovers.
“Trading Johnson would free up cap space while also bringing back valuable draft capital for Chicago to invest in the offensive line or skill positions. His proven NFL production and positional value should still make him a solid return in any potential deal.”
Johnson has two years remaining on his four-year, $76 million contract. Last season, he was limited to seven games as he recorded 17 total tackles (15 solo, two assisted) with one interception, two pass deflections, and two run stuffs. With the draft capital he could bring, the team could get younger at the position. Losing a starting cornerback would be difficult, so it will be interesting to see if Ryan Poles pulls that trigger.
