The Chicago Bears were able to address a few of their needs during the first week of NFL free agency. However, they knew going in that they have a treasure trove of draft picks to use to improve their roster. While they have added some solid veterans like Devin Bush and Kalif Raymond so far, getting some great players in the 2026 NFL Draft is alwasys great. With how strong the front office has drafted in recent years, it would be difficult to expect anything different. Let’s take a look at who one outlet has them taking with their singular first-round pick in their latest mock draft.
The Chicago Bears add a safety in PFF’s latest mock draft

Pro Football Focus’s Gordon McGuinness wrote a one-round mock draft following the first week of free agency. He had the Bears looking at the secondary in the first round and selecting Toledo Rockets safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. Below is the brief snippet they gave with this selection:
“Bears safeties Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard signed elsewhere this offseason, so the team is liable to target the position. McNeil-Warren earned an 80.0-plus PFF overall grade in three straight seasons and is coming off a 92.0 PFF coverage grade — the best mark among FBS safeties — and an 83.2 PFF run-defense grade in 2025.”
McNeil-Warren had a strong senior season as he finished with 77 total tackles (36 solo, 41 assisted) while adding a pair of interceptions (two returned for touchdown), three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and six pass breakups. With Chicago already adding some safety help in free agency in Coby Bryant and Cam Lewis, this gives McNeil-Warren a chance to learn from some veterans in the secondary.
It will be intriguing to see if McNeil-Warren is available when the Bears are on the clock.
