The Chicago Bears have one of the most dynamic offenses in the league entering the 2026 season. After the first season with coach Ben Johnson, the team was moving the ball down the field with few issues. However, one of the key proponents may be leaving the team as a free agent after the season. Let’s take a closer look at what is being predicted for one of the more dynamic offensive players for the Bears.
Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift is predicted to leave the team in 2027 free agency

ESPN’s Matt Bowen wrote an article where he gave an early look at the top players at each position who are available next offseason. One of the two running backs listed is D’Andre Swift. Below is what he wrote about this:
“Swift boosted his value last season in coach Ben Johnson’s offense. He rushed for a career-high 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns, while adding 34 receptions. Part of a backfield rotation, he fits best in zone-heavy scheme where he can press the ball to dayight and contribute to the pass game.”
Swift signed a three-year, $24 million contract ahead of the 2024 season. As he enters the final year of that contract, it will be intriguing to see what he does in his age-28 season. He is in one of the top running back tandems with Kyle Monangai in the backfield for Chicago. With the ability to allocate the money from the running back position into the defense, it will be interesting to see what level of interest the Bears have in re-signing him.
The other running back listed in Bowen’s article is the Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor. There are questions that the Bears’ front office needs to address, but they have time to figure things out. One way to find out is if they use a high pick on the running back position in the draft. Will Swift remain with Chicago past this season?
