With the Chicago Bears picking No. 25 in the 2026 NFL Draft, they have the chance to add to the defensive line. They could look to add an edge rusher or potentially a defensive tackle and will have a few options.
This is considered a good class for both positions, so the Bears could find themselves landing an impact player there. However, one player that is being connected to the Bears at 25 is Caleb Banks. And on Thursday, there was some bad news regarding Banks.

The former Louisville player transferred to Florida where he found success on the Gators’ defensive line. He put up a monster 2024 season before being sidelined in 2025, playing in just three games due to a foot injury.
While Banks said he was healthy at the combine and planned on doing drills, he pulled out early. And now we know the reason why.
Draft expert Dane Brugler reported on Thursday afternoon that Banks suffered a broken foot at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. That puts a big damper on his pre-draft process. As Brugler reports, the injury happened the night before his on-field testing. He performed a partial workout not knowing the extent of the injury. The fracture of the fourth metatarsal was surgically repaired by Dr. Norman Waldrop on March 9.

An injury like this will certainly shake things up. Banks was projected as high as top 20 but there were some mock drafts who had him to Chicago at No. 25. It’s still VERY early to tell in terms of where his stock is now but this feels like he could fall into the second round now.
