The Green Bay Packers are interviewing a top Chicago Bears assistant coach

According to ESPN’s top NFL insider, the Packers interviewed Bears defensive backs coach Al Harris on Wednesday, for their opening at defensive coordinator.

Harris was a key factor to the Bears’ success during their magical 2025 season. The Bears’ secondary led the NFL in takeaways. Safety Kevin Byard led the NFL with 7 interceptions under Harris.
Nashon Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, and Kyler Gordon all contributed to the Bears’ success thanks to Harris’ coaching.
It has been widely speculated that Harris would have a good chance at leaving the Bears for a defensive coordinator job, it looks like that it’s one step closer to happening.
Harris leaving Johnson’s staff for the NFC North rival Packers would be a massive blow to the Bears. However, him leaving for the Packers does make sense as he played for the them for multiple seasons during his playing career.
Harris was a two time pro bowl defensive back during his career and was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame as well.
