In what is widely viewed as a down quarterback class in the NFL Draft, and a mediocre crop of veterans about to become free agents, the Chicago Bears could be big-time beneficiaries as the market takes shape.
Now that Caleb Williams is entrenched not just as the Bears’ starting quarterback but quickly becoming one of the brightest young stars at the position across the league, Chicago’s backup quarterback, Tyson Bagent may be one of the more coveted veterans for two handfuls of teams going shopping at the position in the weeks ahead.
Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson opens up about Tyson Bagent trade speculation

As the NFL Combine gets underway in Indianapolis, Bears head coach Ben Johnson opened up about the decision to possibly trade Bagent this offseason.
“I love Tyson and that’s one that kind of pulls at your heartstrings a little bit because he’s someone that you care about so deeply, and he’s a hell of a football player that at some point you want to see him have a chance to do it himself,” Johnson told reporters.
As the market heats up, the question isn’t whether Bagent is capable of leading an NFL franchise, but which team will be the one to pay the price to find out.
In an offseason where quality signal-callers are at a premium, Bagent represents more than just a reliable backup, he’s a prime trade chip for a front office looking to maximize its assets.
With the Combine buzz only growing, the Bears find themselves in the enviable position of holding the keys to a market that is increasingly desperate for an answer at the position.
