The Chicago Bears have been active during the early stages of the 2026 NFL offseason thus far. Unfortunately, they have also suffered quite a few losses from last year’s team as well.

On Thursday, another of those losses occurred.

According to a report from longtime NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Bears have lost starting safety Jaquan Brisker to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal worth $5.5 million.

“The #Steelers are signing former #Bears S Jaquan Brisker to a 1-year, $5.5M deal, per The Insiders in a deal done by @AndreOdom and @aj__stevens,” Rapoport wrote on X.

What Are the Bears Losing in Jaquan Brisker?

During the 2025 NFL season, Brisker was a huge part of the Chicago defense. He played in 17 games, racking up 93 total tackles to go along with a sack, an interception, and eight defended passes. Brisker has played all four of his NFL seasons with the Bears leading up to signing with the Steelers.

Throughout his entire four-year tenure in Chicago, the 26-year-old safety totaled 342 tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, four interceptions, and 21 defended passes.

Brisker may not have been a “star” in the NFL, but he is a quality starting safety. Add in the fact that the Bears also watched Kevin Byard III leave in NFL free agency to sign with the New England Patriots, and the Chicago secondary got much worse this offseason. C.J. Gardner-Johnson has also agreed to terms on a free agency deal with the Buffalo Bills.

It will be interesting to see what the Bears’ starting secondary looks like during the upcoming 2026 NFL season. Losing Brisker was a painful loss. He can be replaced, but he had started developing into a very good starter in Chicago.

Expect to continue hearing news and rumors come out about the team as the offseason moves forward. There are still quality players remaining in free agency. It would not be surprising to see Ryan Poles and the Bears try to make another move or two before the 2026 NFL Draft in late April.

Ogbongbemiga spent both the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Bears. This past season, he played in eight games and recorded 17 total tackles and a defended pass.

Back in 2024, he racked up 13 tackles and a sack in 17 games played.

Obviously, the move to release Ogbongbemiga won’t make much of an impact on the 2026 season. He wasn’t a key player by any stretch. But, saving cap space will be important if Chicago chooses to get aggressive pursuing an upgrade.

In a new mock draft from Gene Chamberlain of Chicago Bears On SI, Chicago was projected to take Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price in the second round with the No. 57 overall pick. Price would immediately improve a running back that has needed some help.

During the 2025 college football season with the Fighting Irish, Price carried the football 113 times for 674 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging six yards per carry. He also caught six passes for 87 yards and two more touchdowns.

Price was able to produce those numbers despite being the No. 2 running back behind star workhorse Jeremiyah Love. Love is expected to be a potential top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

At the end of the day, the Bears need to improve the ground game to take pressure off of Williams. Price may not end up being a clear-cut starter as a rookie, but he would be more than capable of stepping onto the field and being productive immediately.

Just a few short years ago in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Pistons made Ivey the No. 5 overall pick. After a stellar college career with the Purdue Boilermakers, Ivey was expected to be a rising star for Detroit. Unfortunately, his career has not panned out quite as expected.

Despite the slow start to his career, Ivey is just 23 years old with plenty of time to turn things around. Perhaps being traded to the Bulls could give him that ability.

With that being said, Chicago is already facing a serious decision regarding Ivey. He is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. Do the Bulls believe in him enough to warrant a long-term extension already after just acquiring him?

Against the Denver Nuggets in his second game with the Bulls, he scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds, recorded three assists, and chipped in two steals as well.

Last season with Detroit, Ivey played in 30 games and made 30 starts before going down with an injury. He averged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and four assists per game, while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from three-point range.

Ivey has shown flashes of being a really good player. However, he has been unable to figure out the consistency side of the game just yet. If he can become a more consistent player, he could be a part of the long-term future for Chicago.

Making a trade to acquire him is a good sign that the Bulls plan to keep him around. It doesn’t mean that they won’t consider parting ways if things don’t work out throughout the rest of this season, but it seems likely that Chicago will try to re-sign him.

Throughout the course of his six-year and 77-game career with the Bears, the 26-year-old cornerback has racked up 231 total tackles, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 17 interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 51 defended passes. When he’s healthy, he’s one of the best cover cornerbacks in the NFL.

Moving on from him now could end up being a major mistake. If Johnson gets back to full health and plays up to his potential, another team will be very thankful that Chicago gave up on him. However, it’s possible that the Bears could make the decision to move on.

The Chicago Bulls have been extremely active on the trade market over the last 48 hours. At this point in time, it doesn’t sound like that activity is going to slow down before the Thursday afternoon trade deadline.

On Tuesday, the Bulls made two different trades.

First, the team agreed to terms on a three-team deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons. Chicago acquired young guard Jaden Ivey from the Pistons and veteran point guard Mike Conley from the Timberwolves. The Bulls gave up both Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric in the deal.

After that deal was made, Chicago swung a second trade with the Boston Celtics. This time, Nikola Vucevic and a second-round pick were sent out in exchange for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.

Now, the question remains, are the Bulls done dealing? That doesn’t seem likely. Coby White is widely expected to be traded before the deadline.

Despite the rumors connecting him to leaving Chicago, White spoke out with honesty about wanting to remain with the Bulls moving forward.

But I been saying this (as long as) ya’ll been asking me: the front office is gonna do what they think is best for the team.”

This time, Chicago sent out center Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics, along with a second-round pick, for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania was the first to report the news of the trade between the Bulls and Celtics.

“BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are trading center Nikola Vucevic and a second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X.

Keeping that in mind, the Bears have been linked to a potential $54 million trade option that would beef up their secondary. That trade would see them pull off a deal with the Arizona Cardinals for veteran safety Budda Baker.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine suggested the idea of trading for Baker in a new column.

“Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker are both slated to become free agents. If the Bears can’t retain both then safety could become a priority,” Ballentine wrote.

“Budda Baker has been in and out of the trade rumor mill over the last few seasons. He could be available if he’s not wanting to go through another coaching change in Arizona.”

Baker is coming off of a 2025 NFL season that saw him play in 16 games for the Cardinals. He racked up 120 tackles to go along with 0.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, an interception, and five defended passes. At 30 years old, Baker still has plenty of good football left to be played.

Chicago would be a great destination for Baker. He would have an opportunity to compete on a Super Bowl caliber team and become a key part and leader for the defense.

Whether or not the Bears will actually show interest in trading for Baker or not remains to be seen. It’s an idea that would make a lot of sense, but only time will tell if it becomes a legitimate option.

“Considering Chicago’s serious need for both a center and a superstar — along with its asset cupboard full of expiring contracts and draft picks — pursuing a deal for Towns is worth a legitimate look,” Hanlon wrote.

Towns has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors over the last few weeks. It has also been reported that the rumors have started taking a toll on his relationship with the Knicks. It’s quite possible that the 30-year-old big man could be made available for the right price.

So far this season in New York, Towns has played in 45 games. He has averaged 20 points per game to go along with 11.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists. In addition, Towns has shot 46.1 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from three-point distance.

At this point in time, there have been no reports about what the Knicks would want in return for Towns. Making a trade for him would not come cheap. Chicago would need to send out a big trade package including draft capital and young talent to bring him onboard.

This is simply an idea with no reporting backing it. Towns may not even be moved by New York. Even if he were placed on the trade block, there is no guarantee that the Bulls would have interest in trading for him.

Fisher played his first two college seasons at James Madison before transferring to play for the Hoosiers when Curt Cignetti was hired. He was a huge part of turning the Indiana football program around in just two years.

Throughout his entire college career, Fisher racked up 326 total tackles to go along with 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, three interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 11 defended passes. He’s an all-around talent at the linebacker position who can rush the passer, be a sure tackler, and drop back in coverage when called upon.

While the NFL Draft is still a long time from now, Fisher would be an intriguing target for the Bears. It’s just an idea at this point in time, but it’s a fit that could make a lot of sense.

Bringing Johnson onboard helped unlock more of young quarterback Caleb Williams’ potential. He started off the season slow, but picked up speed as the year moved on. By the time the playoffs arrived, he had become one of the top playmaking signal callers in the NFL.

Moving forward, Johnson will need to continue working on helping Williams become more consistent. However, there are a lot of reasons to think that Chicago will continue being a contender in 2026.

The Chicago Bears and head coach Ben Johnson pulled off a miraculous Wild Card playoff comeback on Saturday night to defeat the Green Bay Packers by a final score of 31-27.

After trailing 21-3 heading into halftime, many had already written the Bears off. It appeared that they were headed towards a crushing loss to their bitter rival that would end what had been a magical season. Johnson and company had other plans.

Led by the stellar second-half performance of quarterback Caleb Williams, Chicago came all the way. The defense found ways to shut down Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense and the rest is history.

Following the game, Johnson was fired up. After an awkward post-game handshake with Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur, Johnson had some choice words for the Packers in his locker room speech to the team.

He made his feelings about Green Bay very clear, dropping a “F— the Packers” moment.

That did not sit well with legendary college basketball analyst Dick Vitale. After seeing the video, Vitale took to social media to rip into the Bears’ head coach.

On Saturday night, Chicago was able to agree to terms on a five-year, $175 million contract with star free agent third baseman Alex Bregman. The deal includes deferred money, which is something the Cubs have shown a reluctance to do despite it making spending big money easier.

It’s the first time in a long time that Chicago has operated like the big market team it is.

Now that the move has gotten done, Cubs’ insider Jesse Rogers of ESPN spoke out with a blunt and accurate message about the signing.

“The bottom line is they needed the bat to replace [Kyle] Tucker,” Rogers said.

Bregman has been one of the best third basemen in baseball for years. During the 2025 campaign with the Boston Red Sox, he played in 114 games and hit 18 home runs to go along with 62 RBI. He also produced a slash line of .273/.360/.462.

Hopefully, he’ll be able to stay healthy during the 2026 season. Replacing Kyle Tucker won’t be easy, but a healthy version of Bregman playing at his best can help towards that goal.

Jed Hoyer and the Chicago Cubs have finally kicked their offseason into high gear. After making fans wait for weeks, the team has now acquired starting pitcher Edward Cabrera in a major splash trade with the Miami Marlins and backed that move up by signing star free agent third baseman Alex Bregman.

According to a report from ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan, the Cubs have agreed to a massive five-year, $175 million contract with Bregman.

“Third baseman Alex Bregman and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a five-year, $175 million contract, sources tell ESPN,” Passan wrote on X. “One year after their failed pursuit of Bregman in free agency, the Cubs land one of the biggest bats of the winter.”

Bregman was always viewed as the team’s top option offensively in free agency. Bo Bichette had some rumors coming out connected to Chicago recently, but Bregman was the clear top target for Hoyer and company.

Back in his days with the Houston Astros, the 31-year-old star was much more productive at the plate. The Cubs will be hoping that he can get back to playing at that level in 2026 and beyond.

It will be interesting to see if Chicago is done making big moves. With Bregman now onboard, the future of Nico Hoerner could become a topic of conversation. Should Hoerner be kept, Matt Shaw would then transition into a super utility role, which would give the Cubs excellent infield depth.

During the 2025 MLB season with the Marlins, Cabrera put together another solid year. He made 26 starts for Miami, compiling an 8-7 record to go along with a 3.53 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, a 3.1 K/BB ratio, and 137.2 innings pitched.

Entering the offseason, Chicago was widely expected to pursue starting pitching. Cabrera is one of the best options that the team could have added.

Following the trade being completed, the Cubs have been hit with some ominous news regarding Cabrera. He has dealt with multiple different injuries throughout his young career and there is some concern about the elbow injury that he suffered towards the end of the 2025 campaign.

“I’ve talked to people in the league who were kind of surprised that he cleared medicals,” Lance Brozdowski of Marquee Sports said.

Hopefully, the injury isn’t something that causes Cabrera issues next season. Last year, Chicago dealt with multiple starting pitching injuries that hurt them down the stretch of the season and in the postseason. The Cubs can’t afford to have their new starter injured.

Making a big trade like this always comes with a lot of risk. It’s possible that Cabrera might not live up to the hype that has surrounded him. Caissie could turn into a superstar that Chicago gave up on too early.

No, the move was not to sign a top-tier free agent. Instead, Jed Hoyer and the front office went out and acquired starting pitcher Edward Cabrera in a major trade with the Miami Marlins. To get him, the Cubs had to part ways with top outfield prospect Owen Caissie.

While there are some who are upset about the fact that Caissie was traded, the opportunity to acquire Cabrera was too good for Chicago to pass on. Cabrera will fill the obvious void that the starting rotation had last season. He will also be under team control for the next three seasons and could become the featured starter in the rotation if he can stay healthy and reach his ceiling.

After the move to address the pitching rotation, the Cubs still need to figure out the offense. Kyle Tucker is almost certain to leave town, although there is still a chance Chicago could circle back around and bring him back. Assuming Tucker leaves, the need for a bat will be obvious in the lineup.

One potential option who has come up as a very intriguing target for the Cubs is none other than veteran outfielder Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger was a fan favorite during his previous tenure in Chicago. Bringing him back is something that fans would love to see.

Adding Bellinger would not just fill the need for an outfielder. In addition, the Cubs would be adding a player who could fill in at first base when needed. He could shift to center field to give Pete Crow-Armstrong a day off from time to time as well.

According to a report from On3 Sports college football insider Pete Nakos, freshman four-star wide receiver Antavious Richardson decided to enter the portal.

247 Sports had Richardson rated as a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 14 athlete in the class and the No. 217 overall player in the nation.

During his freshman season with the Fighting Irish, Richardson did not receive a role on the field. That led to him entering the portal to pursue an opportunity to play elsewhere.

It’s unfortunate to see Richardson leave the program. There is no guarantee that he would have developed into a key piece for Notre Dame, but the talent was there for him to be special. Losing him so early didn’t give the two sides an opportunity to develop and see if the fit could work.

Over the last year, the Cubs have been connected as a potential suitor for Cabrera on multiple occasions. He is under team control for three more years and is just 27 years old. Those qualities are exactly what Hoyer and Chicago have consistently looked for over the years.

Entering the offseason, the Cubs were widely expected to pursue an upgrade for their starting rotation. Being able to acquire Cabrera was one of the best-case scenarios.

Despite the trade for Cabrera obviously making Chicago a better team, the Cubs are receiving criticism for the move. In order to get the deal done, the organization had to give up top-tier outfield prospect Owen Caissie. That hasn’t sat well with some.

Sam Phalen of Roundtable Sports has taken to social media to share criticism for Chicago. He thinks giving up Caissie made the trade an overpay for the Cubs.

“Owen Caissie in this deal is really bad value for the Cubs and a massive win for the Marlins,” Phalen wrote on X.

There is no way to acquire a talented player via a trade than by giving up talent. Caissie did not have a clear path to playing time in Chicago due to a stacked outfield. He could have been a key part of the team’s long-term future, but the Cubs want to win now.

Cabrera, on the other hand, will make the team a much more serious contender in 2026.

After missing out on the College Football Playoff in controversial fashion, the Fighting Irish are focused on improving for next season. Freeman has made it clear that he’s sticking at Notre Dame despite a lot of rumors surrounding him as a candidate for NFL coaching vacancies.

One player who decided to leave the program at the conclusion of the 2025 season was quarterback Kenny Minchey.

Minchey, who originally committed to the Fighting Irish as a four-star recruit in the 2023 class, was unable to find playing time during his time at Notre Dame. In the 2023 recruiting class, Minchey was ranked as the No. 14 quarterback in the nation and the No. 169 overall player in the country, according to 247 Sports.

It seemed that Minchey had found his next step with a Big Ten program. He had reportedly committed to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. However, that decision was flipped.

According to a report from USA Today, Minchey has officially signed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats.

“Notre Dame backup quarterback Kenny Minchey flipped his commitment from Nebraska to Kentucky on Jan. 5, according to multiple reports, despite only committing to the Cornhuskers on Jan. 4.”

That shows just how quickly things can change in the transfer portal. Minchey clearly had last-second thoughts and decided that Kentucky would offer him a better chance to play right away.

During his time with the Fighting Irish, Minchey ended up completing 79.3 percent of his 29 pass attempts for 212 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also picked up 96 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground.

Hopefully, he’ll be able to find success with the Wildcats. Things didn’t pan out as planned with Notre Dame, but Minchey is a talented quarterback who simply needs a chance to play. Kentucky might just be offering that.

“Caleb Williams is stamped in Bears history,” the post read. “He passes Erik Kramer (3,838) for the Bears’ single-season franchise passing record.”

Grant Young of Chicago Cubs on SI has suggested that the Toronto Blue Jays signing Kazuma Okamoto gives the Cubs a better chance of signing Bregman. The Blue Jays were one of the teams with rumored interest in Bregman.

“And now, the fact that Toronto signed Okamoto almost certainly means that they’re out on Bregman, as Okamoto will likely be manning third base for them. Therefore, the teams that are reportedly still in the running for Bregman just went from four to three.”

He also suggested that Okamoto’s signing gives Chicago its best opportunity to jump and lock up Bregman.

“Still, this is a step in the right direction for a Chicago team that has been quite quiet in free agency this offseason. Perhaps this Okamoto signing presents their perfect opportunity to pounce.”

Johnson has been a breath of fresh air for Chicago. After all of the frustration under the leadership of former head coach Matt Eberflus, Johnson has changed the entire trajectory for the franchise moving forward.

Eberflus signed on as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys this season. However, it seems likely that he could be headed for another career change.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys are expected to make defensive changes this offseason. Schultz made it clear that those changes are expected to start with Eberflus.

“Sources: The Cowboys are expected to make changes on their coaching staff — with the main focus on the defense and DC Matt Eberflus,” Schultz wrote on X. “There has been dissatisfaction with that side of the ball from ownership all season.”

During his time as the head coach of the Bears, Eberflus compiled a dismal 14-32 record. It was clear that changes were needed and the opportunity to hire Johnson was exactly what Chicago needed. Eberflus didn’t have much success at all in Dallas.

Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, the Cowboys ranked third to last in yards given up per game. They were also dead last in points given up per game, allowing opposing offenses to score 29.8 points per game.

Those numbers show why Dallas would make a change. For Eberflus, he’ll likely need to take another step down the coaching totem pole and will need to find a way to work his way back up in coming years.

CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson has revealed a new mock draft that has the Bears selecting Clemson Tigers star pass rusher T.J. Parker with the No. 29 overall pick.

“Parker is an explosive, high-motor edge rusher with the juice to both collapse pockets with a bull rush and the bend to win around the corner,” Wilson wrote. “He’s stout and disciplined against the run, from setting the edge to blowing up plays in the backfield with his quickness. He shows surprising versatility, with the athleticism to drop into coverage from wide alignments and disrupt passing lanes.”

Throughout his three-year college career at Clemson, Parker racked up 127 total tackles to go along with 21.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and three defended passes.

Parker has the talent to become a legitimate star at the NFL level. Being able to snag him late in the first round would be a big-time win for Chicago.

Entering tonight’s game, one of the big question marks for Chicago has been the health status of star center Connor Bedard.

Bedard has been out of action since December 12 following a rough collision against the St. Louis Blues. He suffered a shoulder injury and his absence has been felt greatly by the Blackhawks.

Prior to playing the Capitals, Chicago revealed a new update about Bedard’s status.

Jeff Blashill, the team’s head coach, spoke out with an update. Fans will like what he had to say about Bedard.

“He’s certainly excited to be out there and shooting, and it looked like he was ripping it pretty good yesterday,” Blashill said.

Obviously, it would have been much better to hear that Bedard would be playing. That isn’t the case with this update, but the progress he has made hints that a return could be coming soon. Getting him back on the ice will be crucial for the Blackhawks to have any chance at turning this season around.

In the 31 games he has played this season, the 20-year-old star has scored 19 points and recorded 25 assists. He has shot 18.4 percent.

The Chicago Bulls have not had the kind of start to the 2025-26 NBA season that they were hoping for thus far. However, there is still time to turn things around.

At the time of this writing, the Bulls hold a 17-17 record. If the season were to end today, Chicago would hold the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference. That would give them a chance to get into the playoffs by winning in the Play-In Tournament.

Billy Donovan has a good core already in place. That being said, there are still clear areas the Bulls must improve in order to become a contender.

Adding more three-point shooting should be an obvious priority. With that in mind, there is an intriguing trade target Chicago could consider that the front office has had previous interest in.

Last year, the Bulls were intrigued by the idea of trading for Michael Porter Jr. He was with the Denver Nuggets at the time, but was traded to the Brooklyn Nets during the NBA offseason. With the Nets struggling again this year, could they consider moving Porter for the right deal?

Porter would be an excellent trade target for Chicago. He’s not a star, but he’s a high-level three-point shooter and could fit nicely with the Bulls long-term.

So far this season, the 27-year-old wing has played in and started 26 games for Brooklyn. He has averaged 25.8 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 0.9 steals, while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 41 percent from three-point range.

Depending on the price tag, Chicago should absolutely discuss a potential deal with the Nets.

Again, Porter would not be a one-fix move for the Bulls. He’s not a superstar, although his numbers look very impressive this season. What he could bring to the court for Chicago is exactly what the team needs.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Bulls as the deadline draws closer. Making a move for Porter is just an idea at this point in time, but it’s one that would make an awful lot of sense for the team to consider.

The Chicago Bears and second-year rising star quarterback Caleb Williams have punched their ticket in the upcoming NFL playoffs and will play their season finale this week against the Detroit Lions.

Williams has taken his game to another level down the stretch of the regular season. If he can continue playing at this level, the Bears will have a good shot at making a run come postseason time. His game has elevated aggressively especially in clutch time.

Throughout the course of the 2025 season, Williams has played in 16 games. He has completed 57.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,730 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In addition, he has picked up 387 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Ahead of the team’s hopeful playoff run, NFL legend Rob Gronkowski spoke out with high praise for Williams.

When talking about which current NFL quarterback deserves their first Super Bowl ring the most, Gronkowski shockingly picked Williams.

“Caleb Williams,” Gronkowski said. “What a turnaround it has been in Chicago with head coach Ben Johnson. [He’s] just making crazy, insane throws and completing them as well.”

Looking ahead to the future, Chicago is in a great position. With Williams leading the way and a talented roster on both sides of the football around him, the Bears are just getting started. The window has officially opened up for Chicago to contend in the NFC.

On Saturday, the news broke that the Toronto Blue Jays had agreed to terms with Kazuma Okamoto. He was a potential target for the Cubs, but once again the team missed out on signing a player who could have made a major impact in 2026.

Following the news that Chicago missed out on yet another potential target, fans took to social media to make their feelings crystal clear.

“Real lack of conviction from org who had great chance to build on 2025 success,” one fan wrote.

Another fan chimed in, “Another missed opportunity for the Oakland As of the major market teams, the Chicago Cubs.”

Hoyer and company have shown very little interest in making high-impact moves in recent years. That has led to years of coming up short.

Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are heading into their regular season finale at home against the Detroit Lions looking to pull off a win to lock in their playoff seeding.

Assuming the Bears do beat the Lions, they would face off against the NFC North arch-rival Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. That much would be highly-anticipated and it would happen at Soldier Field.

While Chicago is favored to win this week’s game, the Lions are not a pushover team. If the Bears take them lightly, they could find themselves dropping behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC playoff picture and having to face off against a much better opponent on paper than the Packers.

Keeping that in mind, Johnson spoke out and didn’t hold back about Detroit star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown ahead of this week’s showdown with the Lions.

“I think St. Brown probably tops that list right now,” Johnson said when asked about the top players he has been around. “He’s just, from a standpoint of as a receiver, strong, quick, fantastic hands, one of the most tremendous work ethics that I’ve ever been around, extremely tough, willing to do whatever it takes for the team, immense competitor. And I think that shows up when you watch him this season.”

Since coming into the NFL in the fourth round of the 2021 draft, he has become one of the league’s best wide receivers. In his 82 career games played, St. Brown has caught 536 passes for 6,113 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Of course, Johnson and St. Brown know each other very well. Johnson was the offensive coordinator for Detroit as the franchise turned things around. He was a big part of helping St. Brown develop early on in his career.

It will be interesting to see how this week’s game goes for Chicago. Defending against St. Brown typically turns into a nightmare scenario for opposing defenses.

The Chicago Bears are scheduled to kick off against the Lions at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon to close out the regular season. Hopefully, Johnson and company have a good game plan ready and can come through with a win to set up a playoff matchup against Green Bay.

The Chicago Cubs have remained quiet during the MLB offseason thus far. Jed Hoyer and company have been mentioned in quite a few big rumors, but the team has not been able to make any high-impact additions just yet.

While fans are growing frustrated with the lack of movement, that could change quickly. A move for a player like Alex Bregman could immediately turn the frustration into excitement.

Bregman was a target for the Cubs last offseason. Once again this year, Chicago appears to have heavy interest in him. Whether or not the team’s interest will turn into a signing remains to be seen.

Should the Cubs end up finding a way to sign Bregman, there would be questions about the future of Matt Shaw. Would Chicago keep him around as a depth option? Could signing Bregman make Shaw available in trade discussions?

That is something one analyst took some time to weigh in on.

Joey Pollizze of Roundtable Sports has suggested that the Cubs should consider trading Shaw for either Washington Nationals starting pitcher Mackenzie Gore or Miami Marlins starter Edward Cabrera if a deal with Bregman was completed.

“That’s where Chicago could use Shaw’s value to land a pitcher of MacKenzie Gore or Edward Cabrera’s potential,” Pollizze wrote. “He would be the main piece of any deal for a young pitcher, and a lot of up-and-coming teams would probably love to acquire the 24-year-old.”

Shaw played in 126 games in 2025. He hit 13 home runs to go along with 44 RBI, while also slashing .226/.295/.394. Defensively, he was elite for Chicago.

Keeping him around might be a smart option for the Cubs. He would provide excellent depth and could still be a long-term piece of the puzzle. However, if they could trade him for a quality starter, that would help set Chicago up with a chance to compete for the World Series.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for both the Cubs and Shaw. If Bregman does sign with Chicago, things could get very interesting.

The Chicago Bulls came up short against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night, falling to the Central Division rival by a final score of 112-103.

While the game was a disappointment all the way around for the Bulls, it ended with quite a bit of drama. Giannis Antetokoumpo, the Bucks’ superstar forward, decided to dunk the ball with the lead and just 1.9 seconds left.

Of course, as most fans know, there is an unwritten rule that teams who are leading with the game out of reach do not try to score in that kind of a scenario. Chicago was clearly upset with Antetokounmpo for the disrespectful action and many players confronted him on the court.

Following the game, Bulls’ guard Coby White spoke out strongly about the incident.

“He shouldn’t have dunked the ball,” White said. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I said, ‘Bro, you’re better than that.’ The game is over with. Why you gotta do that? It’s a respect thing.”

Antetokounmpo put together a dominant performance against Chicago. He scored 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting to go along with eight rebounds in the win. Ryan Rollins scored 20 points for Milwaukee, while Bobby Portis chipped in with 17.

For the Bulls, White and Nikola Vucevic both scored 16 points to lead the way. Josh Giddey added 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in the loss.

Chicago now sits at 15-16 on the season. It hasn’t been the kind of year that the Bulls were hoping for, but there is still time to turn things around. At the very least, Chicago has been very competitive all season long.

Next up for the Bulls will be a Monday evening matchup at home against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hopefully, Chicago can take out some of their frustration with Antetokounmpo on the Timberwolves.

Other big name potential targets like Alex Bregman have been rumored, but fans will only believe it when they see it when it comes to the Cubs getting a deal done.

With that being said, Chicago has been urged to consider an extremely bizarre trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Of course, the Cubs and Cardinals are bitter NL Central rivals. They hate each other. Getting a trade done would be no easy task for either side.

Christopher Kline of FanSided has suggested that Chicago make a play to acquire veteran third baseman Nolan Arenado from St. Louis.

“This would require the St. Louis Cardinals eating a significant chunk of the $31 million Nolan Arenado is owed over the next two seasons. That said, Arenado fits the Chicago Cubs’ M.O. rather perfectly. He’s an exceptional defender at third base, even as he ages into his mid-30s. The defensive quartet of Arenado, Dansby Swanson, Nico Hoerner and Michael Busch would give Chicago one of the best infields in MLB,” Kline wrote.

Arenado is coming off of a 2025 season with the Cardinals that saw him play in 107 games. He hit 12 home runs to go along with 52 RBI, while also slashing .237/.289/.377.

A few years back, Arenado would have been an elite trade target. Now, it would be a wasted move.

If the Cubs are going to take playing time away from the young Matt Shaw, they should only do that for a clear-cut upgrade. Someone like Bregman would make sense to make an aggressive move for this offseason.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Chicago in the near future. That being said, the Cubs should have zero interest in trading for Arenado.

Maxx Crosby has been rumored to be a potential trade candidate for a couple of years now. While the Las Vegas Raiders have refused to deal him to this point, that could change during the upcoming offseason. If he is made available, Chicago should be prepared to pounce.

Ahead of this week’s game against the New York Giants, the Raiders decided to shut Crosby down due to a knee injury. He was very unhappy with that decision and ended up leaving the team facility. Could that unrest lead to a potential offseason trade?

Throughout his career, Crosby has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. This season in 15 games, the 28-year-old superstar has racked up 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception, and six defended passes. Adding that kind of defensive production would make the Bears an even more serious contender.

It would not be cheap to acquire a talent like Crosby. However, Chicago should not be scared off at this stage by a high asking price.

Throughout the course of the 2025 season, Williams has shown more and more flashes of the superstar potential that made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has put together strong numbers and his playmaking ability has been a big part of Chicago’s run this season.

Following the statement win over the Packers and making it into the playoffs, Williams spoke out with a strong message directed at his haters.

“Yeah… I wasn’t the biggest, I wasn’t the strongest, I wasn’t the tallest, I wasn’t the fastest. I get drafted here, told that I’m not a special player, told that I’m not a good fit here, told that Coach and I won’t work, told I can’t win here,” Williams said.

In 15 games played this season, the 24-year-old quarterback has completed 57.8 percent of his passes for 3,400 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He has also picked up 369 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground.

Williams still has a lot of work to do on his game. There is plenty of room for him to continue to grow as an NFL quarterback.

However, Chicago has to love what it has been seeing from the young signal caller. If he continues developing and reaches his ceiling, the sky is the limit for the Bears moving forward.

FanDuel has listed the Cubs as having +2500 odds to win the World Series next season. That puts them at No. 11 in Major League Baseball.

Clearly, the sports books do not buy Chicago as a World Series contender. That could change quickly if Hoyer pulls the trigger on a big move.

One potential big move that has been rumored for the Cubs is signing free agent infielder Alex Bregman. He was pursued by Chicago last offseason as well, but opted to sign with the Boston Red Sox instead. The Cubs seem to have renewed their interest this offseason.

Making a move to bring Tucker back or potentially reuniting with star outfielder Cody Bellinger could be the kind of move that puts Chicago back on the map. Hoyer has to find a way to bring in a big bat.

There are plenty of other players the Cubs could consider pursuing. Bo Bichette would be one option, while there are some starting pitching options who could help the team compete as well. Chicago simply needs to get aggressive.

Green Bay star quarterback Jordan Love went down with a concussion in the first half and did not return. The concussion came on a brutal hit from Chicago defensive end Austin Booker.

A flag was thrown immediately after the hit was made. Booker was penalized for roughing the passer and is now facing potential punishment from the NFL due to the hit.

According to the NFL’s official safety rules, a roughing the passer penalty results in a $17,389 fine for a first-time offense. As for a use of the helmet penalty, that would run a bill of $23,186.

More than likely, Booker will be fined for his hit when the NFL announces the weekly fines on Saturday. However, the win over the Packers will make every dollar of that fine a little less painful.

Love is still in concussion protocol and his status for the Packers’ big showdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night remains in doubt. While the Chicago Bears received a lot of help with Love being out, Malik Willis stepped in and performed admirably. Green Bay should be in good hands whether it’s Love or Willis who gets the start against the Ravens.

According to a report from longtime MLB insider Jon Herman, the Cubs have agreed to terms with free agent catcher Christian Bethancourt.

“Christian Bethancourt agrees to Cubs deal. $1.6M if in majors,” Heyman wrote in his report on X.

Fans are likely familiar with Bethancourt’s name. He spent some time in Chicago during the 2024 MLB season with the team. In that year, he played in 24 games with the Cubs, hitting three home runs to go along with 15 RBI and a slash line of .281/.305/.509.

Obviously, this isn’t the kind of move that will move the needle one way or another for Chicago. Bethancourt has a chance to earn a role as valuable depth at the catcher position. However, he is not the kind of player that can further the Cubs’ chances of making a run at the World Series.

Bethancourt is 34 years old. He has played in 427 career games during his Major League Baseball career, totaling 35 home runs, 135 RBI, and has slashed .229/.259/.362.

While this is a quality move to add much-needed depth, the Chicago fan base is still hoping to see Hoyer get aggressive. Rumors have surrounded star infielder Alex Bregman all offseason long. Both Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger remain free agent options to watch.

According to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Jacobs will indeed play tonight. Even though there were reports about the Packers’ medical team not wanting him to play, the star running back is going to give it a go in what is the game of the year for both teams.

“Packers RB Josh Jacobs will be active tonight against the Bears, per sources,” Pelissero wrote on X. “Jacobs continues to battle a knee injury. He was on crutches Monday. He didn’t practice all week. But with the division potentially on the line, he’s going.”

In the matchup between these two teams two weeks ago, Jacobs carried the football 20 times for 86 yards and a touchdown. He was a huge factor in Green Bay pulling out a hard-fought win.

Heading into the 2025 MLB season, the Chicago Cubs felt that Justin Steele could end up being an ace-caliber pitcher for them. Unfortunately, that hope was short-lived.

Steele was only able to pitch in four games before an elbow injury ended his season prematurely.

As the team entered the offseason, adding a starting pitcher was high on the wish list. However, it’s quite possible that Steele returning to the mound could be exactly what the Cubs need to take the next step from a starting pitching perspective.

While there haven’t been many updates regarding Steele’s current status, the star pitcher took to social media to share an update about himself.

In a post on X, Steele shared a two-word update along with a video of his progress.

“Feelin Good,” the post read.

Last season in the four games he was able to pitch, Steele was off to a solid start. He compiled a 3-1 record to go along with a 4.76 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, a 4.2 K/BB ratio, and 22.2 innings pitched. Back in 2024, he went 5-5 in 24 starts, recorded a 3.07 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, ended with a 3.6 K/BB ratio, and pitched 134.2 innings.

At 30 years old, Steele still has plenty of high-caliber baseball left in his career. He simply needs to stay healthy.

When he’s at full health, Chicago has one of the elite starting pitchers in baseball from a talent perspective. Coming back at 100 percent would give the Cubs a much better chance of competing for a World Series.

Hopefully, the progress and updates continue to be good. This is great news for Chicago and hopefully fans will get to watch him back on the field at full strength during the upcoming 2026 MLB season.

USA Today’s Gabe Lacques has made his final prediction for where Bregman will sign. He believes that Chicago will end up getting a deal done with him.

Last season with Boston, Bregman ended up playing in 114 games. He hit 18 home runs, drove in 62 RBI, and slashed .273/.360/.462. Those numbers would look good in the Cubs’ lineup, especially with superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker expected to leave as a free agent.

Without Tucker, Chicago is obviously going to need help in the lineup. Losing a star bat is never easy to replace. Bregman would not be able to fully replace Tucker’s production, but he would certainly be able to help.

With that being said, ESPN Green Bay reporter Rob Demovsky has issued a blunt reality check to Chicago.

“There is a TON OF PRESSURE on the Bears,” he said.

Demovsky is not wrong. A loss would seriously hurt the Bears’ chances of winning the division and could impact their ability to get into the playoffs. It would certainly start making Ben Johnson and the rest of the team feel pressure heading into the final two weeks of the season.

After playing the Packers this week, Chicago will finish out the season with matchups a road game against the San Francisco 49ers and a home matchup against the Detroit Lions. Both of those games will be difficult to win.

Hoerner has been thrown around in potential trade ideas over the last couple of years. Despite those rumors, the Cubs have not been all that open to moving on from him.

During the 2025 MLB season, Hoerner put together a strong campaign for Chicago. He played in 156 games throughout the year, hitting seven home runs to go along with 61 RBI. He also slashed .297/.345/.394.

Once again, Hoerner was also elite defensively. That has become a staple year in and year out throughout his career.

Would it be safe to say that Hoerner is untouchable? Probably not, but the Cubs would likely not part ways with him unless an aggressive offer came to the table. Perhaps the Giants could come with that kind of an offer to make Hoyer think about dealing.

More than likely, Hoerner will be back with Chicago in 2026. It would be a total surprise to see the Cubs deal him away.

Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, Chicago has had some ups and downs. Williams, in his second NFL season, has shown steps of progress. He still has a ton of work to do to reach his full potential, but the future looks incredibly bright with him leading the way.

Ahead of this week’s showdown against the Packers, Johnson spoke out honestly about his young quarterback’s development this season.

“I’m just really excited about getting the basics down of this offense. I think the pre-snap procedure is something we’ve been harping on for a long time, and that’s really started to come to light. I think it’s unlocked a lot of elements of the shifts, the motions, the cadence, the things of this offense that we want to do to attack defenses,” Johnson said.

“That’s the starting point. The more reps he gets on every single concept, the game’s starting to slow down for him. That’s encouraging to see. He’s thrown some of these in-breakers with anticipation, which I think is a tough thing for young quarterbacks to do at times, and so he’s trusting what he’s seeing and he’s delivering accurate balls.”

Williams has played in 14 games. He has completed 58 percent of his passes for 3,150 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also running for 334 yards and three more touchdowns.

Those numbers are solid, although his completion percentage has to come up. Williams is starting to look like the clear-cut franchise quarterback the Bears drafted him at No. 1 overall to be.

A win over Green Bay would be a big step for Williams. Being able to take hold of the NFC North would be huge for the city of Chicago.

All of that being said, the stage has been set for this weekend’s showdown. If Williams can put together a big-time performance, the Bears will have an excellent shot at defeating the Packers and potentially clinching their spot in the playoffs.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman has been involved in a lot of rumors this offseason. From the NFL pursuing him to other college programs, his name has been plastered all over the college football rumor mill.

Despite all of the rumors, Freeman seems to be 100 percent committed to Notre Dame.

Freeman has quickly become one of the top head coaches in the football world. He has led the Fighting Irish to a lot of success, including a run to the national championship game last season. Unfortunately, Notre Dame ended up losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes in that championship game.

Lately, a lot of rumors have surrounded Freeman being a potential candidate for the Michigan Wolverines.

Of course, Michigan’s job has opened up after the program decided to fire Sherrone Moore. Freeman would be an elite upgrade over Moore, but the likelihood of him leaving the Fighting Irish for the Wolverines seems almost nonexistent.

With that being said, legendary college coach Urban Meyer has issued a strong response to the Freeman to Michigan rumors.

“I don’t have much inside scoop on this,” Meyer said. “But someone said Marcus Freeman. What are you… out of your mind? … When you hear that stuff, that’s an agent out there, throwing his name out. I can promise you, you’re going to hear the words ‘extension’ and ‘a raise.’”

Since taking over the Notre Dame job back in 2021, Freeman has led the program to a 43-13 record. He has the program on the right trajectory and is just getting started.

If he does choose to leave for a job in the NFL, the Fighting Irish would take a big step in the wrong direction. Hopefully, that scenario does not end up becoming a reality.

Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated has come up with an intriguing potential addition for the Bears in the first round of the 2026 draft. He has Chicago taking Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald with the No. 25 overall pick.

“The Bears and McDonald are a tremendous marriage of scheme fit, team need and player skill set,” Flick wrote. “Chicago has the 10th-worst run defense in the league, allowing 126.6 rushing yards per game, and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen needs a bigger body on the interior. McDonald, at 6′ 3″ and 326 pounds, is one of the best run stoppers in the class. He’s heavy-handed, often resets the line of scrimmage, and gets off blocks in time to stuff ballcarriers and has impressive short-area quickness for his size.”

During the 2025 college football season thus far, McDonald has racked up 57 total tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. He has been a big part of the Ohio State defense that has a chance to lead the Buckeyes to a second straight national championship.

Standing in at 6-foot-3 and 326 pounds, McDonald is an intimidating presence on the defensive front.

It will be interesting to see who the Bears end up with in the 2026 NFL Draft. This season is obviously the focus right now, but McDonald is a name worth keeping an eye on as a potential target.

Brandon Glick of Cubbies Crib has suggested that the Cubs should consider trading longtime outfielder Ian Happ this offseason. His reasoning behind the suggestion is that Chicago has a lot of impending free agents next offseason and moving on from one of them would likely be wise since the team won’t be able to keep all of them.

“Trading (for instance) Happ doesn’t help the offense unless the team brings back a bat in a trade (or uses the financial savings to sign a free agent), but it may bring in some controllable talent for a team that is severely lacking in that department right now,” Glick wrote.

During the 2025 MLB season with the Cubs, Happ played in 150 games. He hit 23 home runs to go along with 79 RBI, while also producing a slash line of .243/.342/.420.

At 31 years old, Happ has been playing in Chicago since the 2017 season. Over the years, he has had a lot of success with the Cubs. Trading him would be a tough decision, but it would be better than losing him for nothing next offseason.

There is a good chance that Chicago will decide not to move on from Happ. He’s likely still viewed as a key part of the 2026 lineup. However, it’s a suggestion that the Cubs should at least consider.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers, Chicago has agreed to terms on a one-year deal to bring back Caleb Thielbar. He was a key piece in the Cubs’ bullpen during the 2025 campaign.

“NEWS: The Cubs are bringing back lefty Caleb Thielbar who pitched well for them last season, sources tell me and @JeffPassan,” Rogers wrote on X. Thielbar, 38, had a 2.64 ERA in 67 games last season. He joins newcomer Toby Milner as lefties in the Cubs pen. The deal is pending a physical.”

Last season with Chicago, Thielbar appeared in 67 games, as they noted in the report, compiling a 3-4 record to go along with a 2.64 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP, a 4.3 K/BB ratio, 58 innings pitched, one save, 25 holds, and three blown saves. Those numbers were excellent for the Cubs and were more than worth re-signing.

While the move is a quality addition for the 2026 version of the team, Chicago needs to make more moves. Kyle Tucker remains a free agent and is still expected to walk. Hoyer and company will need to find a player who can help replace his production.

Also, the Cubs could use another starting pitcher. They have been connected to quite a few potential options. So far, they haven’t been willing to pay the premium required to win a bidding war for a starter.

Expect to continue hearing a lot of rumors about Chicago in the coming days and weeks. Thielbar has now been re-signed, but the work is far from done for the Cubs if they want to compete for a championship next season.

Fans were hoping to see the Cubs be able to retain Tucker long-term this offseason, but recent rumors have suggested that they won’t get their wish.

Tucker’s market has been expected to exceed what Chicago might be willing to pay.

While the rumors have not been friendly to the Cubs, Tucker’s market has not quite materialized as expected. Quite a few teams who were rumored to be potential landing spots have already pulled out of the race to sign him. His value could drop some from the expected amount.

Could that open up the door for Chicago to consider getting involved and bringing him back?

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel recently doubled down on a projection that Tucker will end up getting an 11-year, $418 million contract. He also noted that Tucker’s deal could include potential deferrals.

Grant Young of Chicago Cubs on SI believes that that projection could be friendly to the Cubs’ chances of re-signing Tucker. However, it’s worth nothing that Chicago has not utilized deferral contracts to this point in time.

“The prospect of Tucker getting a deferred deal could make him more affordable for the Cubs,” Young wrote. “For example, if Chicago offered Tucker the 11-year, $418 million deal that McDaniel projected but deferred half of that money to the 11 years after his contract concludes, that would mean they only had to pay him $19 million per year over the next 11 years as opposed to $38 million.”

Being able to save that kind of money and still retain Tucker might be something the Cubs could consider. If Jed Hoyer and the front office want to be serious. World Series contenders, bringing Tucker back would be a big step in that direction.

During the 2025 MLB season with Chicago, Tucker played in 136 games. He hit 22 home runs to go along with 73 RBI, while slashing .266/.377/.464.

Is it likely that the Cubs will re-sign Tucker when all is said and done? Probably not, but at this point in time there are still pieces of hope to hang onto.

At 24 years old, Williams has shown major flashes of superstar potential. However, those flashes haven’t turned into consistency just yet. If they do, Chicago is going to be a Super Bowl contender for years to come.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears will be without star cornerback Kyler Gordon for four games due to his groin injury.

“The Bears are placing CB Kyler Gordon (groin) on Injured Reserve, knocking him out four games with the hopes he returns for the playoffs, sources say,” Rapoport wrote in a post on X. “The second IR stint for Gordon. Chicago signed CJ Gardner-Johnson to fill the void and he’s been a revelation in the slot.”

Gordon has been unable to stay healthy and play the role that was envisioned for him. The team will miss him over the next four games.

So far this season in three games, he has racked up seven total tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery. It simply hasn’t been the kind of breakout season that was expected.

Throughout his entire 45-game career with the Bears, the 25-year-old cornerback has totaled 214 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, five interceptions, and 17 defended passes.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has shown major flashes of superstar potential to begin his NFL career. However, there have been some consistency issues.

As a team, the Bears have taken a huge step forward. Entering Week 15 action, they hold a 9-4 record and are firmly in the NFC playoff picture.

So far this season, Williams has played in 13 games. He has thrown for 2,908 yards, 19 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while completing 57.8 percent of his passes and running for 321 yards and three more scores. Those numbers do show a slight drop from his rookie year.

Despite the numbers not being where Chicago would have preferred them, one former NFL quarterback spoke out and didn’t hold back about the young quarterback.

Ryan Fitzpatrick shared his thoughts on Williams. He is clearly very high on the Bears’ signal caller and spoke strongly about Williams.

“[Caleb Williams] is a magician in the pocket,” Fitzpatrick said. “This dude throws better on the run than anyone in the NFL.”

While there was a lot of praise from Fitzpatrick, the former quarterback also revealed one area where he thinks Williams needs to improve to take the next step.

“I would just like to see Caleb a little bit more, ‘What was the play that was designed, let’s see if it can be executed that way.’ I think that’s the next step he has to take.”

“Gone are the days when we can expect the Cubs to set the market for a top free agent,” Campbell wrote. “We’ve had confirmation of that fact multiple times already this offseason. The Cubs weren’t willing to match the money involved in Dylan Cease’s and Devin Williams’ free-agent signings. While they could still spend beyond their comfort zone on a starting pitcher, it won’t be because they set the market.”

Campbell mentioned the Devin Williams situation, along with Dylan Cease. However, another report recently leaked that the Cubs had shown interest in star slugger Pete Alonso before he signed with the Baltimore Orioles.

Time after time, Chicago has opted for the safe approach. It simply hasn’t paid off for the franchise in terms of winning.

Fans are holding out hope that the Cubs might decide to go all-in on signing a player like Alex Bregman. While there is still a chance of that happening, no one should hold their breath.

The Chicago Bears are looking to get back in the win column after a disappointing Week 14 loss against the Green Bay Packers.

In order to accomplish that goal, Ben Johnson and company will need to defend home field against Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns. By record, that job should not be too difficult, but the Browns are going to put up a fight.

Last week, Sanders put together a masterful performance against the Tennessee Titans. He completed 23 of his 42 pass attempts for 364 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, while also running three times for 29 yards and a score. The Bears’ defense will need to slow him down.

With that being said, Chicago has a much more talented defense than the Titans.

ESPN’s Seth Walder is not expecting a great follow-up performance from Sanders. In fact, he thinks the Bears are going to force a very opposite game from Sanders.

“Sanders will turn the ball over at least three times [against the Bears],” Walder predicted. “The Bears’ defense is forcing turnovers on 19% of opponents’ drives, which is the best in the NFL by a mile, and Sanders has the worst QBR (19.9) among all QBs with at least 100 pass attempts.”

Chicago has been elite at forcing turnovers throughout the 2025 NFL season. That trend has a good chance to continue against a rookie quarterback this week.

Sanders has flashed major talent in his rookie campaign. After sitting for the most of the season, he found his way onto the field when fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel went down with a concussion. Cleveland has made it clear that he will remain the team’s starter for the rest of the season.

Hopefully, Walder’s prediction holds true and the Bears are able to dominate the Browns’ offense. Sanders is always a threat, but Chicago is expected to handle its business in Week 15 action.

On Friday afternoon, a former Cubs top prospect landed a new opportunity. That former top prospect is none other than Christopher Morel.

According to reports, Morel has landed a one-year contract with the Miami Marlins in free agency.

Not long ago, Morel was one of the top young players in Chicago. There was a strong belief that he could be a big part of the team’s future. Unfortunately, he was never able to live up to his full potential and was dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays in the deal that brought Isaac Paredes to the Cubs.

During the 2025 MLB season with the Rays, Morel ended up playing in 105 games. He hit 11 home runs to go along with 33 RBI and a slash line of .219/.289/.396.

Obviously, those numbers are not going to get the job done long-term. However, Morel has a chance to join an up-and-coming Marlins team that he could have a positive impact on in 2026. His bat will need to become much more consistent, but the power that he brings to the plate is intriguing.

As for Chicago, the Cubs continue to be rumored to big names without signing the. Most notably, Chicago appears to be one of the teams in on star free agent infielder Alex Bregman. Fans will remember that the team was also interested in signing him last offseason, but was not willing to pay as much as the Boston Red Sox were.

Many believe that Chicago is a legitimate suitor for Bregman this offseason. With Kyle Tucker likely leaving town, the Cubs badly need help in the lineup.

At 31 years old, the Cubs could have a long-term option in Bregman. He might very well be a cornerstone of the current era of Chicago baseball.

While the Cubs could sign Bregman, fans won’t believe it until they see it. Hoyer is not known for getting big deals done. Bregman is not going to come cheap.

The Chicago Cubs have had a fairly quiet MLB offseason thus far. Fans have been begging the front office and Jed Hoyer to get aggressive, but so far that has not been the case.

While the team hasn’t made any sizable moves, Hoyer did make a signing on Thursday.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, the Cubs have agreed to a one-year contract with left-handed reliever Hoby Milner.

“The Cubs are in agreement with lefty reliever Hoby Milner, sources confirm to ESPN. Milner, 34, had a 3.84 ERA last season for Texas,” Rogers wrote on X. “Mentioned him in this story with some other relievers.”

Milner appeared in 73 games with the Texas Rangers last season. He compiled a 3-4 record to go along with a 3.84 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, a 2.8 K/BB ratio, 18 holds, and four blown saves.

At 34 years old, Milner could be a quality addition to the bullpen in 2026. He’s not going to come in and change the entire bullpen, but he could be a nice piece. That’s what Chicago is clearly hoping for with the move.

It’s good to see the Cubs make a move for a player who could make a decent impact at the Major League level. However, Hoyer can’t afford to stop here. For Chicago to be a legitimate World Series contender, the team will need more offensive firepower and could use another starting arm.

Only time will tell if the Cubs are going to get aggressive or not, but the signing of Milner is something to be happy about. Hopefully, he’s able to have some good success like he was able to have with the Rangers last season.

The Chicago Bears and quarterback Caleb Williams came up just short last week on the road against the Green Bay Packers. When all was said and done, the Bears were able to rally from a dismal first half performance, but ended up losing the game by a final score of 28-21.

Williams and the offense were unable to get things going in the first half. They figured things out a bit in the second half, but it was too little too late.

As for the young quarterback, he threw for 186 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception on the final play of the game, completing 19 of his 35 passes.

Unfortunately, due to the loss the Bears dropped out of the lead in the NFC North division. They also are no longer the top overall seed in the NFC.

With just four games remaining in the regular season, including a rematch with the Packers at home in Week 16, Williams spoke out honestly about losing to Green Bay and what the team can learn from the loss.

“Yeah, you know obviously our goal is to win every single game, and our goal is to win these games, and you know, get to the playoffs,” Williams said. “It’s a playoff atmosphere, going versus a rival and things like that. So, it’s good for us to be able to find ways to rally and obviously we want to focus on having a better outcome and starting faster and all these different things. But it’s definitely useful for us, just in case we go on the road at some point and in the playoffs and things like that. It’s something that we are going to use in the future and throughout my career. But we got to focus on this next game up to get to that point.”

At the end of the day, Chicago is a very young football team. Having a chance to play in a playoff-like atmosphere against the Packers is great experience.

It will be interesting to see how the Bears respond in Week 16. Should they take care of business and defeat Green Bay, Chicago will be right back on the map being viewed as a potential contender in the NFC.

According to a report from Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, relief pitcher Devin Williams wanted to play for the Cubs. He ultimately ended up signing with the New York Mets because Chicago was not willing to offer him a good enough contract.

So far this offseason, it has been made clear that the Cubs would like to add a starting pitcher and another reliever after landing Phil Maton early on. Williams could have been a perfect fit for Chicago. Instead, the team watched him sign with the Mets instead of getting aggressive.

Williams had a rough 2025 season with the New York Yankes. However, he was elite for the Milwaukee Brewers before that.

Just two years ago during the 2024 MLB season with the rival Brewers, Williams appeared in 22 games and compiled a 1-0 record to go along with a 1.25 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, a 3.5 K/BB ratio, 14 saves, and just one blown save.

Back in 2023, he put up even bigger numbers. He pitched in 61 games, racking up an 8-3 record, a 1.53 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, a 3.1 K/BB ratio, 36 saves, and just four blown saves.

Needless to say, Williams is capable of being an elite reliever and closer. The Cubs simply didn’t seem to have enough interest in signing him.

Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were denied access to the upcoming College Football Playoff. Despite many believing that the program should have been, the committee decided to give Alabama the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

That decision has been met with a lot of backlash from the media, players, and fans. Very few believe that the committee made the right decision.

Despite the outcry following the decision, Notre Dame will not have a chance to make the same kind of run that it made last year. Of course, the Fighting Irish made it all the way to the national championship game before falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes last season.

Plenty of reactions have been coming out about the news of Notre Dame being snubbed. One new reaction came from former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky. He is not happy with the decision.

Orlovsky spoke out strong and made it clear that he believes the Fighting Irish should have been in the playoff over Alabama.

“Alabama has not looked good in about five weeks. They’ve lost two of their final four games,” Orlovsky said.

“They didn’t look good against LSU about five weeks ago, they did not look good against (Oklahoma), they did not look good against Auburn. … Notre Dame should have been in over Alabama. Conference championships don’t matter anymore. They don’t matter anymore. It’s a joke what happened and Notre Dame should have been in.”

Many have made the same argument that Orlovsky made. However, it’s all for nothing as Notre Dame will simply have to swallow the snub. The Fighting Irish also decided to decline their bowl invitation following the College Football Playoff news.

Hopefully, the program can come back stronger next season and get back to hunting a national championship. It will also be interesting to see how the Crimson Tide play in their first round matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners on the road.

There have also been some trade rumors surrounding players currently in Chicago. One of those players has been star infielder Nico Hoerner.

Hoerner has become one of the main centerpieces of the team. He is a great clubhouse presence, an elite defensive second baseman, has speed on the bases, and has a knack for picking up clutch hits. Trading him would make many fans upset.

Due to the rumors surrounding Alex Bregman being a potential free agency target, Hoerner’s name has come up as a potential trade candidate. However, there is one MLB insider who took the time to shoot those rumors down.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post made it very clear that he does not believe the Cubs are going to trade Hoerner this offseason.

“Certainly, we know [the Cubs] are interested in Bregman. They love Bregman,” Heyman said. “I get that. They really don’t have a big need at third base, unless they decided they’re gonna move in from Shaw, or trade Hoerner, which, he’s the lifeblood of the team, which I mentioned on a recent show.”

He continued on, making his stance on a potential Hoerner trade abundantly clear.

“I don’t see them trading Hoerner at all. So I think Munetaka [Murakami], that’s probably a long shot for the Cubs. Bregman is a guy they’re clearly in on.”

During the 2025 MLB season with Chicago, Hoerner played in 156 games. He hit seven home runs, drove in 61 RBI, and slashed .297/.345/.739.

More than likely, the Cubs will have Hoerner in their lineup when the 2026 MLB season begins. Something could change and he could get dealt, but it seems very unlikely for that scenario to become a reality.

Coming up with options to replace a player like Tucker is easier said than done. However, there is one player available in free agency who could help the Cubs do just that.

How about reuniting with former fan favorite and current superstar slugger Kyle Schwarber? Fans would welcome that move and it could be a legitimate possibility for Chicago.

Of course, any interest from the Cubs in Schwarber would need to be reciprocated. Whether or not he would want to return to Chicago after how things ended is unknown. However, the Cubs should strongly consider pursuing that option.

During the 2025 MLB season as a major leader for the Philadelphia Phillies, Schwarber put together a career season. He played in 162 games, hitting 56 home runs to go along with 132 RBI and a slash line of .240/.365/.563. Those numbers place him among the elite impact bats in baseball.

At 32 years old, giving Schwarber a long-term contract is still a safe bet. Chicago should feel very good about the idea of a four-year deal with him if it chooses to pursue.

Jed Hoyer has not been as aggressive as fans would have liked in recent years. This offseason, the Cubs have been connected to a lot of bigger names. Perhaps he’s ready to spend big in an attempt to power Chicago back into serious World Series contention.

Losing Tucker will be a tough blow for the Cubs’ lineup. Bringing in Schwarber to replace him would not just soften the blow, it could be a positive for Chicago.

If Schwarber can continue playing at the level he showcased last season with the Phillies, the Cubs would actually improve from parting ways with Tucker and bringing him in. There have been no concrete reports about Chicago having interest in a reunion with Schwarber, but Hoyer and the front office should strongly consider the option.

Heading into the game, the Bears were leading the NFC North and held the best record in the NFC overall. Unfortunately, they were unable to take advantage of the opportunity they had, losing to the Packers at Lambeau Field by a final score of 28-21.

With the loss, Chicago has now fallen behind Green Bay in the division race. The Bears still have an opportunity to bounce back and beat the Packers in two weeks, but the Week 14 loss will sting quite a bit.

Following the game, Johnson spoke out with some brutally honest thoughts about coming up short against Green Bay.

“So it was really close at the end, but give a lot of credit to Green Bay,” Johnson said. “They made a couple more plays than us. Their offense was explosive. They found some big plays that resulted in touchdowns on us. Fortunately there in the second half our offense was able to find its footing a little bit both in the run game and the passing game. It felt like we had a bit of rhythm. We made it a game, but fell short at the end of the day.”

Despite losing the game, the Bears should be encourage by the way they played. A few differences in the game could have easily resulted in Chicago coming through with another statement win.

It’s clear following the loss that Chicago is a team to watch in the NFC. Are the Bears a serious Super Bowl contender? That remains to be seen, but they can play with anyone.

With the team still being extremely young and missing key pieces like Rome Odunze and Kyler Gordon, there are many ways the Bears could improve before taking on the Packers in Week 16. That matchup, a home game on Saturday Night Football, will bring an insane energy to the stadium.

When it comes to adding another reliever, an intriguing name has come up as a possible target for the Cubs.

Cristian Crespo of Just Baseball has named Chicago as one of the top potential free agency destinations for New York Yankees relief pitcher Luke Weaver.

“Until proven otherwise, the Cubs won’t be in the top-tier market for players at any position,” Crespo wrote. “Seeing that Weaver does not project to make that kind of money with his new deal, he would be a great option for a team looking for stability in a high-leverage role.”

Weaver put together a solid 2025 MLB season with the Yankees. He appeared in 64 games, compiling a 4-4 record to go along with a 3.62 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, a 3.6 K/BB ratio, 64.2 innings pitched, eight saves, 21 holds, and four blown saves.

At 32 years old, Weaver could be a solid multi-year option for the Cubs. Depending on the price tag, he could be an elite option for Chicago this offseason.

There are quite a few other teams around the league who will also have interest in Weaver. However, it would not be surprising to see the Cubs consider pursuing him.

Despite coming on strong late in the season and appearing to be one of the best teams in college football, Notre Dame will not have a chance to make a playoff run. Last season, the Fighting Irish made it all the way to the national championship before falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes

Marcus Freeman and company finished out the regular season with a 10-2 record. They were ranked No. 11 overall at the end of the regular season.

Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Miami Hurricanes were included in the playoff picture. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough spots for Notre Dame.

Following the news breaking that the Fighting Irish were not included in the playoff picture, polarizing sports analyst Skip Bayless spoke out with a very strong reaction.

“It is ridiculous that JMU and Tulane are in the College Football Playoffs … and Notre Dame and Texas and Vanderbilt are not,” Bayless wrote on X. “This shouldn’t be about “everybody gets a chance.” This should be about THE BEST 12 TEAMS IN AMERICA. Come on.”

There are many who agree with Bayless. James Madison and Tulane earned their way into the playoff by the rules, but do they really stand a chance against the top teams in the nation? Probably not.

Unfortunately, both Notre Dame and Vanderbilt likely could have held their own and had a chance at making a run. Now, they won’t be able to get that opportunity.

This is a major setback for the Fighting Irish. They’ll simply have to wait until next season. Starting off the season slow ended up being a death sentence for Notre Dame football this year.

When the Chicago Cubs originally pulled off the blockbuster trade with the Houston Astros to acquire superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker, the hope within the fan base was that the team would be able to sign him to a long-term contract.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Now, Tucker is a free agent and it seems to be an almost forgone conclusion that he will sign somewhere else in free agency.

Assuming that the Cubs are unable to retain Tucker, the question has pivoted to being about who could replace him.

Tucker is one of the best bats in baseball. He didn’t have the kind of impact that Chicago was hoping in 2025, but it’s difficult to replace a player of his caliber. However, it’s quite possible that the Cubs already have his replacement in place.

Seiya Suzuki has been very open about his desire to play in the outfield. He has been utilized as a designated hitter quite often, which is not a role that he loves. Simply having him replace Tucker could be a top-tier solution to the potential problem in Chicago.

Last season with the Cubs, Suzuki put on a show at the plate. In 151 games played, the 31-year-old outfielder hit 32 home runs to go along with 103 RBI and a slash line of .245/.326/.478. He was one of Chicago’s most consistent players on the roster.

Would he be a perfect replacement for Tucker? Probably not, but he would be an above average replacement for him.

Of course, losing Tucker’s bat would cause a drop for the offense as a whole. The Cubs would likely need to look to bring in an upgrade at another position. Adding a better third baseman has been one rumored avenue to improvement, with Alex Bregman and Eugenio Suarez being mentioned as potential targets.

It’s never easy to see a player like Tucker walk away in free agency. Chicago is preparing for that reality. Suzuki could help soften the blow quite a bit.

There is still a chance that things could change and Jed Hoyer could get aggressive to keep Tucker. No one should entirely count the Cubs out. But, fans should wrap their heads around the idea that Tucker is likely walking away and that Suzuki could be his replacement.

“They’re making believers out of a lot of people including me,” Gruden said. “But this week, I’m going with the Packers. I just think the injuries at linebacker are really tough on Chicago. I think the Packers, at home, are on a roll. And I think they’re going win this game 27-24.”

Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson will have something to say about that prediction. If the offense can keep Williams upright against the elite Green Bay pass rush featuring Micah Parsons, they’ll have a chance to do some damage. The defense will have to play one of its best games as well.

This is the first of two meetings late in the season between these two teams. They will match up once again in Week 16 in Chicago.

The Chicago Bears have taken a huge step in the right direction during the 2025 NFL season.

After a slow start to the year, the Bears have turned things around. Entering Week 14 action, Chicago holds a 9-3 record, leads the NFC North, and holds the best record in the entire conference. Right now, the Bears look like a legitimate contender.

Granted, there is still a lot of work for Ben Johnson and company to complete. Nothing has truly been won yet. But, the fans have every right to be ecstatic about the present and future of the team.

With that being said, the upcoming NFL offseason is going to be an interesting one for the Bears.

In order to truly become a contender long-term, Chicago will need to make some smart decisions. The team has taken a step, but there is more work to be done. One intriguing roster decision has been predicted.

ESPN analyst Dan Graziano has suggested that the Bears are likely to move on from tight end Cole Kmet after the 2025 season.

“Kmet has been a useful and reliable part of the Bears’ offense and could certainly continue to coexist with Loveland in 2026 and beyond,” Graziano wrote. “He has 231 yards and two scores on the season. But if Chicago is looking for a place to find some cap relief next spring, Kmet’s contract could be vulnerable.”

Since being drafted by Chicago with the No. 43 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Kmet has caught 278 passes for 2,823 yards and 21 touchdowns in 95 total games.

Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that Kmet does seem to be a likely candidate for the Bears to move on from. Chicago needs to free up some money and the team simply doesn’t have a need for a No. 2 tight end like Kmet.

It’s possible that Ryan Poles could choose to keep him around, but parting ways seems like the most likely scenario at this point in time.

On Saturday, fans were sent into a frenzy when MLB reporter Bob Nightengale reported that the team was signing free agent starting pitcher Zac Gallen. However, that report was quickly rebuffed by ESPN insider Jeff Passan.

While Gallen remains a target to watch very closely, it doesn’t sound like a deal is close.

That being said, another report has come out about a pitcher the Cubs have been linked to having trade interest in previously.

According to a report from ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney, the Washington Nationals are expected to trade starting pitcher Mackenzie Gore this offseason. Gore was a name that was linked heavily to Chicago ahead of the trade deadline last year.

“Execs report a ton of trade talk going on right now, with some front office types saying teams are more open, more willing than in recent years to discuss a range of players,” Olney wrote on X. “There is a perception in a couple of front offices that the Nats’ Mackenzie Gore will definitely be among those moved in the days ahead.”

At 26 years old, Gore could be a very intriguing target for the Cubs. If things worked out, he could be a long-term option for the Chicago ration.

During the 2025 MLB season with the Nationals, Gore made 30 starts. He compiled a 5-15 record to go along with a 4.17 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, a 2.9 K/BB ratio, and 159.2 innings pitched.

Gore has big-time potential, but he has yet to show all of it at the Major League level. Perhaps a trade to the Cubs could help him unlock that potential.

Entering his second NFL season, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was facing at on of pressure.

After getting off to a sluggish start to begin the 2025 campaign, the narrative surrounding Williams turned south. Fans called for him to be benched and the outside noise about him not being the long-term franchise quarterback got very loud.

Despite the pressure, Williams kept his composure. Now, he has the Bears at the top of the NFC entering Week 14 action.

Williams has played in 12 games this season and has completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 2,722 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He has also picked up 306 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground for Chicago.

Granted, there are still many ways for Williams to continue developing. He needs to improve his completion percentage in a big way. However, there are a lot of reasons to be excited about the Bears’ future with him leading the way.

Keeping that in mind, Chicago legend Ron Rivera spoke out with strong words about Williams. He clearly believes that the former USC standout is the guy to lead the Bears back to Super Bowl glory.

“This young man is going to be a solid pro, have a tremendous career, and is going to lead the Bears to another opportunity to get another Lombardi trophy,” Rivera said.

Rivera, a well-respected former player and head coach in the NFL, carries weight when he speaks. His opinion of Williams is powerful and should provide more confidence for the Chicago fan base. Williams received a full-fledged endorsement with that statement.

With Ben Johnson now leading the team as head coach, the future is incredibly bright for Williams. He’s not a finished product, but he has taken a big leap in the right direction from his rookie season. The sky is truly the limit for him moving forward.

Hopefully, Rivera ends up being correct with his belief in Williams. Perhaps the 24-year-old quarterback truly will be the guy to lead the Bears to their first Super Bowl title since 1986.

After pulling off the blockbuster trade to acquire superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker last offseason, the Chicago Cubs decided to part ways with Cody Bellinger via a trade with the New York Yankees.

Fans were not excited to lose Bellinger. Keeping him around along with Tucker would have given the Cubs a much more dangerous lineup. Also, the fact that Tucker was playing on a one-year contract was concerning for Chicago.

Now, it appears that Tucker will leave the Cubs after one season with the franchise. Could that give Jed Hoyer enough of a push to consider reuniting with Bellinger?

That is an idea that has now been suggested.

When looking at potential right field options for Chicago following the departure of Tucker, MLB.com analyst Jason Foster pinpointed Bellinger as a possible fit.

“A reunion with Bellinger would make a lot of sense. He signed a one-year free-agent deal with the Cubs before the 2023 season and made a good first impression, hitting .307 with 26 homers, 97 RBIs and an .881 OPS in 130 games. That led to a three-year, $80 million extension ahead of 2024,” Foster wrote.

“That season, however, wasn’t nearly as strong as 2023. He played the same number of games, but saw his numbers drop across the board. He hit .266 with 18 homers, 78 RBIs and a .751 OPS. But after a trade to the Yankees ahead of the 2025 season, Bellinger rebounded with 29 homers, 98 RBIs and an .814 OPS. He was also worth seven Outs Above Average on defense, his highest mark since 2020. Perhaps most notably, he played in 152 games — his most since 2019. He’s now a free agent after exercising an opt-out on the final year of his contract.”

Bellinger coming back to the Cubs would make a lot of fans happy. During his two-year tenure in Chicago, he quickly became a fan favorite.

Making the move for Bellinger would also come cheaper than trying to re-sign Tucker. For a franchise that has been unwilling to spend the big bucks on top-tier free agents, pivoting from Tucker to Bellinger would make an awful lot of sense.

Granted, this is just an idea and there has been no reporting about the Cubs trying to sign Bellinger. However, it would not be shocking to see the team show interest.

Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are hoping to have a chance to make another run at a national championship this season.

After coming up just short in the big game last year against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame has put together another strong season in 2025. Even though the Fighting Irish got off to a slow start to the season, the team was able to pull together and get back on track.

Entering conference championship weekend, Notre Dame holds a 10-2 record and the No. 10 overall ranking in the nation. While the team is not guaranteed a spot in the playoff, it seems like Freeman and company have a good chance to get in.

With that being said, rumors have begun swirling about Freeman’s future. There are many who believe that the NFL could come calling for him this offseason.

Over the last couple of years, Freeman’s name has been connected to quite a few different coaching jobs. This offseason alone, he was talked about as a top-tier candidate for college programs like LSU, Florida, and Penn State. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in leaving the Fighting Irish for anything other than a good NFL job or perhaps the Ohio State head coaching position.

A new suggestion has been made about a historic NFL team who could be interested in Freeman.

Mike Tomlin’s status with the Pittsburgh Steelers is becoming an interesting storyline to watch. If the Steelers were to miss the playoffs this season, there is a growing belief that Tomlin could find his way headed out of town. Could Freeman be the man to replace him?

That is exactly what Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan has suggested.

“I think Marcus Freeman from Notre Dame is on that list and might even be at the top of the list. If the Steelers found out that, you know, Mike Tomlin did have eyes for the Bills or Sean McDermott got fired or the Giants, because he likes Jackson Dart, and they were starting to get an itchy trigger finger,” Fillipponi said.

“I think if they found out Marcus Freeman was interested in leaving college for the NFL, that would also entice them to make a move sooner rather than later.”

Again, this is just an opinion with no legitimate reporting backing it up. There is nothing concrete about Pittsburgh considering a move from Tomlin or that Freeman would be on the team’s shortlist of candidates.

While it’s not fact, Freeman would have a difficult time turning down a job offer from the Steelers.

Expect to continue hearing his name mentioned in coaching rumors in the coming weeks and months. Freeman seems likely to be back at Notre Dame in 2026, but he’s becoming a popular candidate for high-profile jobs.

Last offseason, the Chicago Cubs made a play to sign veteran star infielder Alex Bregman. Unfortunately, Jed Hoyer and company lost the bidding war to the Boston Red Sox.

After his first season with the Red Sox, Bregman has now entered free agency once again. This time around, it sounds like the Cubs have renewed their interest from last year.

Bregman would be a big upgrade, especially offensively, over what Chicago got last season from Matt Shaw. With Kyle Tucker expected to leave town in free agency, the Cubs are going to need more offensive firepower. He’s also a capable defensive third baseman.

With that being said, one MLB insider spoke out with an update about Chicago’s interest in Bregman.

Bruce Levine of 670 The Score has shared why Bregman is of such interest to the Cubs.

“Alex Bregman this free agent year, without losing a draft pick, ( qualifying offer) is more attractive to teams like the Cubs and Tigers,” Levine wrote. “.821 OPS despite playing only 114 games.Cubs offer last winter was 4 years ,$115 million.Right handed pop might be the way to go for Cubs.”

Throughout the course of the 2025 MLB season with Boston, Bregman ended up playing in 114 games. He hit 18 home runs, drove in 62 RBI, and produced a slash line of .273/.360/.462.

At 31 years old, Bregman still has quite a bit of good baseball left in the tank. If Chicago is serious about signing him, Hoyer is going to have to get aggressive. The Cubs are going to need to offer him years and a lot of money to get a deal done.

Will Chicago actually be willing to pay out the kind of contract that it will take to sign Bregman? That remains to be seen, but the team badly needs help. If the front office isn’t aggressive, the Cubs could see a big amount of regression during the 2026 MLB season.

Hopefully, the fans will get what they want this offseason. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Bregman, but fans want to see Chicago get aggressive and make win-now moves.

The Chicago Cubs have been high on third baseman Matt Shaw for quite some time. In 2025, he got his first opportunity at the Major League level and the results were mixed.

During his rookie season, Shaw ended up playing in playing in 126 games. He was elite defensively, but his struggles at the plate were concerning.

Shaw finished the season hitting 13 home runs, driving in 44 RBI, and producing a slash line of .226/.295/.394.

Was that enough to prove to the Cubs that he could be the team’s long-term third baseman? Probably not, and the offseason rumors are showing that to be factual.

Once again, Chicago has been linked heavily to Boston Red Sox free agent third baseman Alex Bregman. Of course, the Cubs were also in on Bregman last offseason before he signed with the Red Sox. That interest has been renewed, which signals a desire from Jed Hoyer and the front office to upgrade over Shaw.

Joey Pollizze of Cubs Roundtable offered his thoughts on the situation. He believes that Chicago is comfortable with Shaw having a reduced role in 2026.

“If the Cubs were fully in on Shaw’s growth heading into Year 2, they likely wouldn’t show this much interest in a veteran like Bregman,” Pollizze wrote. “However, the front office seems to be in a position where they are fine with shifting Shaw into more of a reserve role in 2026.”

At 24 years old, Shaw still has plenty of time to get his MLB career on track. The Cubs are still high on him. Wanting to upgrade in the present is not a bad thing.

With Kyle Tucker expected to leave Chicago in free agency, the team will need more offensive firepower. Bregman could certainly help bring that to the lineup. Losing Tucker and having a weakness at the plate in Shaw would not be an ideal scenario.

That being said, Shaw did prove that he can be one of the league’s best defensive third basemen. There will be a role for him on the team in 2026 one way or another.

The Chicago Bulls have not gotten off to a great start to begin the 2025-26 NBA season, holding a 9-12 record through the first 21 games of the year.

While the start has not been exactly what the Bulls had hoped, there have been some obvious bright spots. One of those has been the development and improvement of rising star guard Josh Giddey, who signed a lucrative contract with the team during the offseason.

Giddey has played in 19 of the team’s first 21 games, averaging an impressive 21 points per game to go along with 10 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and a steal. He has also been shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from the three-point line.

Despite the team not playing up to its standard, Giddey spoke out recently with a strong message about Chicago’s future.

As shared by Gavin Dorsey of Bulls Roundtable, Giddey doesn’t believe that the Bulls are very far off from where they want to be.

“I think we’re right there,” Giddey said. “It’s not like we’re getting blown out, apart from one or two games. We’re right there. Every game has come down to crunch time. We’ve got to find ways to get better down the stretch, and a lot of that falls on me handling the ball. I’ll continue to get better, watch film and learn how I can improve in that area.”

He continued forward, providing more reason for Chicago fans to be optimistic about the current state of the team.

“I feel like one win is all we need, just to get back on the right track,” Giddey said. “Having bodies, guys healthy would be a big bonus, but it’s the NBA. Everyone deals with injuries. We’ve got to find ways to win games… We’ve got to find ways to execute down the stretch, and I think if we clean up a few things and we give ourselves a chance to win those games, we’re in a much better position. I’m confident with where we’re at.”

Hopefully, Giddey is correct with his assessment of the Bulls.

In the meantime, plenty of trade rumors have popped up surrounding Chicago. Anthony Davis has been talked about as a potential target for the Bulls leading up to the trade deadline. It’s clear that the front office wants to win now.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the near future has in store for Chicago. Giddey is clearly expecting the team to turn things around.

On Thursday, the Cubs did make a move for a pitcher. No, it’s not a flashy move or the kind of high-impact addition that fans want to see. In fact, the move doesn’t even bring in a player on a major league contract.

However, Chicago agreed to terms on a minor league contract with towering 6-foot-9 pitcher Jace Beck.

Beck may not make any kind of impact on the team in 2026. This is the kind of move the Cubs have made quite often to see what players might have left in the tank with a fresh opportunity. Perhaps the Chicago organization can help Beck develop into a major league talent.

Last season, Beck spent time with the New York Mets in the minor leagues. He He appeared in 42 total games, compiling a 4-3 record to go along with a 5.80 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, 68 strikeouts, and 30 walks in 45 innings pitched.

“The 25 year old Beck stands 6’9” and spent 2019-2025 in the Mets organization, making it up to High-A last year. He posted an ERA of 5.80 but struck out 13.6 batters per 9 innings,” Greg Huss wrote on X.

Again, this isn’t going to get the fan base excited. It’s a small move that might be forgotten in the very near future. Or, perhaps it could be the start of a special story of a player making the most out of a fresh start.

It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Beck. Hopefully, he’s able to find some momentum within the Cubs’ organization and make a run at seeing some progress during the 2026 season.

Keeping that in mind, MLB.com reporter Mark Feinsand has suggested an intriguing option for Chicago. He thinks that Arizona Diamondbacks’ free agent starter Zac Gallen might be a name to watch for the Cubs this offseason.

“The Angels, Giants and Tigers are among the teams in on Gallen, sources said, with the Orioles, Cubs and Braves also looking at the 30-year-old,” Feinsand wrote. “If the price tag on starters such as Suárez, Imai and Valdez feel too high for some clubs, Gallen could be a strong alternative.”

Gallen is not in the top-tier of free agent starting pitching arms. However, he’s a serviceable starter who would add an intriguing skill-set to the Chicago rotation.

During the 2025 MLB season with the Diamondbacks, Gallen made 33 starts. He compiled a 13-15 record to go along with a 4.83 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, a 2.7 K/BB ratio, and 192 innings of work completed. Gallen may not be an ace, but he would be an intriguing addition depending on the price tag that he commands.

Whether or not the Cubs will actually pursue Gallen or not remains to be seen. He has been connected to the team on multiple occasions, but Feinsand’s report shows that there are quite a few teams interested in signing him.

With the amount of rumors that keep popping up connected to Chicago, fans should buckle up for a wild offseason. There will be quite a few disappointments, but it does seem clear that Hoyer and the front office are looking to make some moves.

As shared by Matt Schneidman, a reporter covering Green Bay for The Athletic, Green Bay safety Javon Bullard was downgraded on the team’s injury report on Thursday. He did not participate at all. Bullard has been a key part of the Packers’ defense this season.

Bullard has played in 12 games so far this season, racking up 59 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery and two defended passes.

For a Chicago offense that has struggled with consistency at times, having a key piece of the Green Bay secondary miss the game would be a huge plus. The Packers already have had struggles in the defensive secondary. If Bullard is forced to miss the game, that could turn into a major weakness for Green Bay.

He hasn’t been ruled out just yet. Being downgraded to “did not participate” on a Thursday is usually not a good sign, but no official word has been given. More updates on Bullard’s status are sure to come in the very near future.
