Michael Jordan tops list of highest-paid athletes of all-time

It’s been over 20 years since Michael Jordan retired from the game of basketball in 1993. But since then, he’s found other ways to stay busy including his successful NASCAR team in 23XI Racing.

He’s also raking in the money still.

Jordan made an estimated $250 million in 2025 just off of the Nike brand alone, which his Jordan Brand is under. That’s merchandise including shoes, clothes and more. With the $250 million, it helped Jordan keep his spot as the highest-paid athlete of all time per Sportico.

When Sportico released its list of the highest-paid athletes of all-time, it wasn’t shocking to see Jordan at the top. But it was a little surprising to see how much he’s actually made. The site estimates that Jordan has made $4.5 billion when adjusted for inflation. Without the adjustment, he’s made $3.28 billion.

He’s atop the list beating out Tiger Woods, Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James and Lionel Messi who round out the top five.

Michael Jordan earned more than any active or retired athlete in 2025, pushing his career-earnings to $4.5 BILLION.

Jordan has been the leader on this list for quite some time now. But this year, he extended that lead over Woods from $850 million to $1.31 billion over the last year. This also comes as Jordan Brand revenue dropped by 16 percent in fiscal 2025. But even so, the brand generated $7.3 billion over that same time period.

Jordan has a 3.4 percent cut in that and the brand generated 70 times more sales volume compared to other signature basketball lines.

NBA players dominated the list with a total of 13 athletes in the top 50. The rankings do account for far more than just salaries as endorsements, media ventures, appearance fees and licensing deals are among the things factored in.

The Chicago Bulls continue to hang around the top 10 of the NBA lottery for the upcoming draft after reshaping the roster at the trade deadline. But it’s clear the team is going to build around Matas Buzelis, a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

While the Bulls appear years away from completing their rebuild, Buzelis continues to show flashes of his potential. His second season in the league is a good step forward in terms of his development and what it means moving forward. And on Monday night, Buzelis joined some really rare and elite company this season by hitting a few milestones.

The Bulls were able to take care of business against the Memphis Grizzlies at the United Center. It hurt their NBA lottery position as they will likely not be able to catch the Grizzlies for the 8th spot in the lottery. They are also just a half game ahead of the Bucks who are 10th.

But it was Buzelis performance that really stood out. He finished the game with 29 points and 7 rebounds as the team was +27 with him on the floor last night. He also drained five three-pointers and had three blocks in the game. With that, he reached 100 blocks and 100 made three-pointers on the year, joining only Victor Wembanyama as the only two players in the NBA to do that this season.

That’s a pretty impressive feat for Buzelis in his second season.

Now, ideally you want the Bulls to lose and tank to get a higher draft pick. But in reality, they waited too long to do that and are probably going to miss out on a top player in a loaded draft.

The bright spot right now is Buzelis, who continues to have a big second season in the league. Building around him is what the Bulls want to do and if he gets better and better, it’s great for the Bulls.

Chicago Bulls hit historically ugly mark in loss to Trailblazers

The 2025-26 NBA season can’t be over soon enough for the Chicago Bulls. After a 121-112 loss at home to the Portland Trailblazers on Thursday night at the United Center, the Bulls gifted their fans some coal.

The loss dropped Chicago to 0-11 in the month of February with their last win coming at the end of January. The 0-11 mark is the worst month ever by the Bulls in franchise history and the 11-game losing streak is the third-worst in franchise history.

The Bulls have been dreadful in the month of February, with little for the fans to cheer about. Not only did they move players on the roster at the trade deadline but they didn’t receive many valuable assets, if any in the process. Chicago’s “rebuild” is underway but it’s a more painful one than expected.

The Bulls finally picked a direction earlier in February. They decided to move Coby White, Kevin Heurter, Nikola Vucevic and Ayo Dosunmu, keeping Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey. It’s something that fans wanted the team to do in years past. But now, it might be too late.

The 2025 draft class was a really good one, led by Cooper Flagg. The Bulls essentially lost out on the No. 1 pick due to a coin flip with Dallas. But even getting into the top three would have been huge as a player like Kon Knueppel is looking like a franchise player. Then there’s 2026.

Right now, the Bulls are ninth in the NBA’s tank standings. They are 1.5 up on Memphis and 2 up on Dallas in terms of moving up to get into that lottery for a draft which is considered VERY strong. Realistically, the Bulls are probably going to finish eighth or ninth with the ceiling being sixth. But they have a lot of work to do.

Again, it was too late to start this “tank” and now they could miss out on another really strong draft.

More than half of the NBA season has now gone and we can say that things haven’t gone exactly as expected. Detroit is suddenly a powerhouse. A few teams we had as contenders are scrambling just to stay afloat. And the middle of both conferences is packed tight.

Trying to figure out what’s real and what’s just a hot streak? Now’s the time to look a little closer.

The Surprise Leaders Breaking Through

The biggest surprise? The Pistons.

At 39-13, they’re not just good, they’ve been the class of the Eastern Conference. J.B. Bickerstaff has this team defending at an elite level, ranking second in points allowed per game. Cade Cunningham has taken the leap everyone was waiting for. He’s finally playing like a true All-Star and leader.

But it’s not just that they’re winning, it’s also who they’re beating. They’re 10-4 against teams over .500, so this isn’t a case of padding wins against weak opponents. They’re also 6-1 on the second night of back-to-backs. Might seem insignificant, but that stat usually separates deep, disciplined teams from flashy pretenders.

Out West, Oklahoma City still holds the top spot. But they’ve cooled off a bit lately. Their early-season dominance built enough cushion to weather a few bumps. New York sits at 34-19 and looks steady. Since winning the NBA Cup, they’ve played with confidence and balance. At the other end, things are rough.

Washington is sitting at 14–38 and looks stuck. The offense hasn’t clicked, the defense has been worse, and there’s little sign of momentum building. Indiana hasn’t fared much better at 13-40, and injuries have derailed any rhythm they hoped to find.

New Orleans might be the most frustrating case. They’ve struggled defensively all season and can’t seem to keep their core healthy. Sacramento and Milwaukee haven’t collapsed, but both have underperformed compared to expectations.

What It All Means Going Forward

Detroit’s rise and San Antonio’s accelerated rebuild have shaken up the usual power structure. The bottom tier is weaker than usual, making matchups between struggling teams important. Meanwhile, the middle of the standings is crowded, and play-in positioning could shift week to week.

There’s still plenty of season left but the picture is getting clearer. Some teams are building toward something real. Others are running out of time.

Kevin Johnson recalls funny story of learning he had to guard Michael Jordan

Stories of Michael Jordan from his playing days in the 90’s with the Chicago Bulls never get old. It feels like every now and then we get a new untold story about Jordan from a teammate, coach, or opponent. The latest one involves an opponent who had a calling to Jesus moment.

Former Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson had his fair share of battles against Jordan in his career. Most notably in the 1993 NBA Finals when the Bulls and Suns matched up. Chicago was seeking their third-straight title and eventually got the first of two three-peats for the franchise led by the core of Jordan, Scottie Pippen and head coach Phil Jackson.

Recently, Johnson appeared on the Club 520 podcast and was asked about that 1993 Suns team that featured MVP Charles Barkley. The Suns went down 0-2 and Johnson was called upon to guard Jordan.

From there, he went straight to Jesus.

While on the flight to Chicago, Johnson found out he was guarding Jordan in Game 3 from coach Paul Westphal.

“So, we are flying from Phoenix to Chicago. I fall asleep on the plane and then the head coach wakes me up, right? And he says, ‘Hey, I just want to let you know, man, Game 3 is going to be your game.’ So cool. You know, I believe that. I’m going to have to bounce back,” Johnson recalled on the Club 520 podcast.

“Man, I had this dream that you came and woke me up and told me, ‘You got Michael Jordan,’” he told his coach.

“You are,” Westphal replied.

After finding out he had to guard Jordan in Game 3, Johnson found the nearest church in Chicago. From there, all he could do is pray.

“I walk straight in that church. And I sat in front row. ‘Jesus, I don’t believe in you no more. There’s no way if you loved me and died on a cross and did all the things, you’d be having me guarding Michael Jordan,’” he said, laughing.

The Suns did win Game 3 before Chicago took Game 4 in the Windy City. Phoenix was able to get Game 5 to go back out West before the Bulls closed out the series for good. Jordan finished with 44, 55 and 41 in Games 3-5, putting on an impressive showing.

But as Johnson noted, he had some success.

“He averaged 44 against Majerle. They like, ‘What’d he average against you?’” he said, pausing with a smile. “42. But I kept him under his average.”

The respect between the two is awesome and it’s clear that they enjoyed their battles together.

NBA champion calls out Chicago Bulls after trade deadline

The Chicago Bulls finally made the decision to move on from several key players at the 2026 NBA trade deadline. However, it might have been a little too late.

In a few separate deals, the Bulls traded away Nikola Vucevic, Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu as well as a few others. But they didn’t receive a single first-round pick back in compensation. Instead, they acquired multiple second-round picks and a few players who they can hope will contribute down the line.

Even with picking a direction, it’s too late. The best drafts to tank for were in 2025 and the upcoming 2026 draft and with the Bulls being 10th in the draft before the lottery, it will be really hard to get into that top 4. They are going to need some luck involved.

After the moves, many around the league are sharing the same thought. What are the Bulls doing? The latest is NBA champion and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

In those trades, the Bulls did receive players back. But they were guards and Chicago had players at the position already. The four guards they added, Jaden Ivey, Collin Sexton, Anfernee Simons, and Rob Dillingham are all ball-dominant guards.

That led to Green asking what the heck the Bulls are doing on his latest podcast episode:

“I actually don’t know what the Bulls are doing,” Green said, still very much baffled.

“I don’t know what the hell they’re doing with all these guards,” Green said remarked.” It just doesn’t make sense to me.”

So far, Simons and Dillingham have shown some flashes in the two games they have played for the Bulls. Ivey is another young player that could develop but he’s coming off a major knee injury.

The feud between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan is an unfortuante one. As teammates, they helped deliver six NBA titles for the Chicago Bulls with two three-peats. But in-between then and now, there was a falling out.

While both have made comments in public and have appeared together at events, many believe the feud is still on going. Now, Pippen is looking to move on from some key items he had in his playing career in an auction and one of those items is connected to Michael Jordan.

For Chicago Bulls fans, they will have the chance to bid on some awesome items in Pippen’s collection very soon. “The Scottie Pippen Collection” will be available for auction starting in early March as part of Sotheby’s Auction House. Items that Pippen has collected during his playing career will be available and the highlight of the auction?

A pair of Air Jordan “Olympic” 7’s that are signed by Jordan himself. The pair were originally worn by Michael Jordan during the Dream Team’s gold medal run in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

Now, this doesn’t mean that the feud is being taken to another level but it is a little odd that Pippen would give those up. Those shoes are iconic and anyone with the chance to purchase them are going to add a spectacular item to their collection.

Also available for auction in Sotheby’s “The Scottie Pippen Collection” are various jerseys from Pippen’s collection, as well as other memorabilia, including his 1994 NBA All-Star Game MVP trophy. The auction will run from March 2 to March 10 at Sotheby’s.com.

Bulls already facing crucial Jaden Ivey decision after trade

The Chicago Bulls made a flurry of trades ahead of the NBA deadline this season. None of those moves were more interesting than the team bringing in former Detroit Pistons point guard Jaden Ivey.

Just a few short years ago in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Pistons made Ivey the No. 5 overall pick. After a stellar college career with the Purdue Boilermakers, Ivey was expected to be a rising star for Detroit. Unfortunately, his career has not panned out quite as expected.

Despite the slow start to his career, Ivey is just 23 years old with plenty of time to turn things around. Perhaps being traded to the Bulls could give him that ability.

With that being said, Chicago is already facing a serious decision regarding Ivey. He is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. Do the Bulls believe in him enough to warrant a long-term extension already after just acquiring him?

In his debut performance with the team against the Toronto Raptors, Ivey played in 33 minutes and scored 13 points on 5-for-12 shooting to go along with six assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Against the Denver Nuggets in his second game with the Bulls, he scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds, recorded three assists, and chipped in two steals as well.

Last season with Detroit, Ivey played in 30 games and made 30 starts before going down with an injury. He averged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and four assists per game, while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from three-point range.

Ivey has shown flashes of being a really good player. However, he has been unable to figure out the consistency side of the game just yet. If he can become a more consistent player, he could be a part of the long-term future for Chicago.

Making a trade to acquire him is a good sign that the Bulls plan to keep him around. It doesn’t mean that they won’t consider parting ways if things don’t work out throughout the rest of this season, but it seems likely that Chicago will try to re-sign him.

Expect to hear more speculation about the Bulls and Ivey as the season moves forward. For now, he’ll focus on trying to earn his spot for the future.

Former Chicago Bulls player named a winner at NBA Trade Deadline

The Chicago Bulls made a flurry of moves this week s the NBA Trade Deadline came and went. Chicago’s roster looks at lot different than it did a week ago and with a 24-28 record, they sit 12th in the NBA draft order right now. How close to the top five they get is still a question to be answered.

With the team deciding to go in a new direction, it meant they had to move on from center Nikola Vucevic. The veteran was in the last year of his contract and for the Bulls, it made a lot of sense to move him. In return, they landed a player in Anfernee Simons. The guard is a free agent after this year but could play his way into a contract as he’s just 26-years-old.

Vucevic now gets the chance to compete in the Eastern Conference with Boston. And that led him to be named a winner at the trade deadline.

As mentioned above, Vucevic is going to a better situation now. He was stuck with a Bulls franchise that believed they had enough to get to the playoffs each year. In reality, they were a play-in team.

Here is some of what The Ringer had to say on Vucevic being a winner:

This is pretty simple. Vucevic is exiting an organization that’s completely indifferent to success, has no identifiable team-building strategy beyond a sudden obsession with second-round picks, and isn’t very good. He’s joining an organization that’s committed to winning the championship every single year, boasts a rock-solid culture that’s based on accountability, and is very good. The Bulls are asleep. The Celtics are awake. The Bulls are unserious. The Celtics are shrewd.

This move is a life raft for Vucevic, a 35-year-old center who’s never won a playoff series. He’s also on an expiring contract and now finds himself in an ideal position to alter how he’s perceived around the league. Most likely sliding in as a backup center who can make spot starts when tapped for it, Vooch is still skilled enough to have a second unit run its offense through him. He can facilitate from the mid-post, stand on the perimeter and space, pop out for open 3s, set sturdy screens, and duck into the paint to seal smaller defenders who’ve switched on to him.

This also helps the Bulls at least get something out of a deal for an expiring contract. So it makes sense for them, as well.

A trade like this could be a win-win for both sides. The Bulls just have to hope they are finally going in the right direction with the decisions they made.

Chicago Bulls trade deadline grade revealed

The Chicago Bulls completely overhauled their core roster leading up to the NBA trade deadline. The team moved on from Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Nikola Vucevic, Kevin Huerter, and Dario Šarić for a bunch more guards and an insane amount of second-round picks.

While many fans are rightfully confused and angered over some of these trades, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz gave the Bulls an A- grade and said “there’s a lot to like moving forward” regarding these questionable moves.

Swartz specifically named the trade for Jaden Ivey as “one of the best trades of the entire deadline”.

The Bulls traded both Huerter and Šarić for the 2022 fifth overall pick. Swartz explained that with Ivey’s young age of 23, he still has a lot of potential and could be the early favorite to be the Bulls’ shooting guard of the future.

“Ivey no longer looked like a core piece for a rising Detroit Pistons team, yet he owns career averages of 14.9 points and 4.9 assists a game and is still only 23. He’s the early favorite to become the team’s shooting guard of the future.”

The Bulls also added four second round picks and Rob Dillingham from Minnesota in return for fan favorite Dosunmu. Dillingham could eventually turn into a solid rotational guard, according to Swartz.

Swartz gave the Bulls a very high grade for the trade deadline, despite failing to add a legitimate big man to their roster and having way too many guards on their team.

It seems the Bulls will be looking to begin yet another rebuild. With the overhaul of their roster, it seems the Bulls have a shot to finally get back in the draft lottery after years of being stuck in the play-in tournament.

Hopefully, Chicago can get a top pick in the 2026 draft and add to its core of Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis.

The Chicago Bulls appear to be going all in on a rebuild. After making several trades the past few days, Chicago was busy early on Thursday morning just hours before the NBA’s Trade Deadline.

Chicago moved guard Coby White to Charlotte on Wednesday and now they are sending Ayo Dosunmu to the Minnesota Timberwolves. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the move early Thursday morning.

Leading into this deadline, the rumors swirled that Chicago would look to move both White and Dosunmu. Chicago was hoping for at least a first round pick in return for one of the guards. Instead, they end up with more second round picks and another guard in the deal.

Charania is reporting that the Bulls will send Dosunmu and Julian Phillips to Minnesota for Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks in future drafts. That’s lower than the rumored compensation the Bulls were hoping to get with Dosunmu earlier in the week.

For Chicago, it’s clear they are tearing this down and trying to get into the lottery. But is it too late in the season to tank?

The Chicago Bulls have been very active at the 2026 NBA Trade Deadline, moving on from key players like Nikola Vucevic and Coby White. With the Bulls making a few moves in the past few days, it signals what their plan is for the rest of the season.

Chicago is obviously ready to go in a new direction and try to rebuild while acquiring young talent. They haven’t landed a first-round pick, which would help, but they continue to trade off assets. And they likely aren’t done yet.

Right after the Bulls shipped White off to Hornets, a new report suggests they are ready to move on from more players.

As it stands right now, the Bulls have seven guards on the roster. That’s obviously going to change. It’s not feasible to go the rest of the season with that much guard depth.

The Chicago Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley tweeted that a trio of guards are still trade candidates:

That makes a lot of sense. Dosunmu’s name has been in trade talks the past few days with the New York Knicks being a team that has been connected to him already. The price tag for Dosunmu is believed to be higher than White and ideally the Bulls would land a first-round pick.

As for Sexton and Simons, both are on expiring deals. Chicago could look to dump them now and try to get any sort of asset back. Whatever happens, the Bulls need to be aggressive and stay in the rebuild lane. But with this management, it’s never really simple.

The Chicago Bulls have been extremely active on the trade market over the last 48 hours. At this point in time, it doesn’t sound like that activity is going to slow down before the Thursday afternoon trade deadline.

On Tuesday, the Bulls made two different trades.

First, the team agreed to terms on a three-team deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons. Chicago acquired young guard Jaden Ivey from the Pistons and veteran point guard Mike Conley from the Timberwolves. The Bulls gave up both Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric in the deal.

After that deal was made, Chicago swung a second trade with the Boston Celtics. This time, Nikola Vucevic and a second-round pick were sent out in exchange for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.

Now, the question remains, are the Bulls done dealing? That doesn’t seem likely. Coby White is widely expected to be traded before the deadline.

Despite the rumors connecting him to leaving Chicago, White spoke out with honesty about wanting to remain with the Bulls moving forward.

“I’m trying to focus on the game, but obviously, there’s a lot of stuff going on. It’s hard not to think about, but it’s tough…Obviously, I want to be here. I love my teammates. But I been saying this (as long as) ya’ll been asking me: the front office is gonna do what they think is best for the team.”

So far this season with Chicago, White has played in 29 games and made 26 starts. He has averaged 18.6 points per game to go along with 4.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.7 steals, while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from the three-point line.

Only time will tell if the Bulls do decide to trade White. That scenario seems likely, especially with the amount of guard talent Chicago has on its roster.

Expect to continue hearing rumors swirling around the Bulls ahead of the deadline. White’s name will be connected to a lot of those rumors.

The Chicago Bulls have been busy on Tuesday ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

After pulling off a three-team deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons that brought in young guard Jaden Ivey, the Bulls have now worked out another trade. This time, Chicago sent out center Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics, along with a second-round pick, for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania was the first to report the news of the trade between the Bulls and Celtics.

“BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are trading center Nikola Vucevic and a second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X.

Chicago has been wheeling and dealing. Now, it will be interesting to see if the Bulls are done or if there are more changes coming.

Over the last couple of years, Vucevic has been connected to trade rumors quite heavily. It was just a matter of time before the Bulls decided to move him in a deal.

During the 2025-26 NBA season with Chicago, Vucevic has played in 48 games. He has averaged 16.9 points per game to go along with nine rebounds and 3.8 assists, while also shooting 50.5 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from three-point range.

As for what Chicago is getting back, Simons adds another talented guard to the roster. He’s a capable scorer who could be an impact piece for the Bulls in the future if they choose to work out a new contract with him after the season comes to an end.

So far this season with Boston, Simons has played in 49 games. He has come off of the bench in all of those appearances and averaged 14.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. Simons has shot 44 percent overall and 39.5 percent from the three-point line.

Expect to continue hearing rumors surrounding Chicago ahead of the Thursday trade deadline. However, Vucevic is now gone and on his way to the Celtics.

The Chicago Bulls have been in the rumor mill as the 2026 NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching. On Tuesday, they made a deal as part of a three-team trade, just an hour after another shocking NBA trade went down.

Per Shams Charania, the Bulls are acquiring Mike Conley Jr. and Jaden Ivey while sending Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric to the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons also received a 2026 first-round protected swap from Minnesota.

The Bulls acquired Saric in a trade over the weekend with the Sacramento Kings, also netting them two second-round picks. Huerter was acquired by Chicago at the 2025 trade deadline from Sacramento in the Zach LaVine deal.

In the trade, the Bulls acquired two guards including former lottery pick in 2022, Jaden Ivey. He was the No. 5 overall selection by the Detroit Pistons and at the time considered a key piece of their core.

He’s in the final season of a four-year, $33 million contract he signed as a rookie and is set to become a restricted free agent this offseaso if the Bulls pick up the qualifying offer.

Ivey has flashed potential and was having a breakout season in 2024-25 before suffering a broken fibula that ended his season in early 2025. He was averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and four assists in roughly 30 minutes per game

This season, Ivey is averaging 8.2 points and 1.6 assists while playing in 16.8 minutes per game. He’s started two games so far.

Chicago Bulls Linked to Major $220.4 Million Star in Trade Rumblings

The Chicago Bulls have become a key team to watch as the NBA trade deadline continues to draw closer on February 5.

Most recently, the team has been surging in trade odds for Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. While those odds may be surging, it seems very unlikely that the Bucks would be willing to trade Antetokounmpo within the Central Division to the Bulls.

However, there is another potential trade option Chicago could pursue.

Ahead of the deadline, it is clear that the Bulls would like to upgrade the center position. Nikola Vucevic is the current starter for the Bulls, but that isn’t a long-term situation. Chicago would be wise to bring in a new center if the right opportunity presents itself.

Pippen Ain’t Easy’s Andrew Hanlon believes that a trade for New York Knicks star center Karl-Anthony Towns could make sense for the Bulls.

“Considering Chicago’s serious need for both a center and a superstar — along with its asset cupboard full of expiring contracts and draft picks — pursuing a deal for Towns is worth a legitimate look,” Hanlon wrote.

Towns has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors over the last few weeks. It has also been reported that the rumors have started taking a toll on his relationship with the Knicks. It’s quite possible that the 30-year-old big man could be made available for the right price.

So far this season in New York, Towns has played in 45 games. He has averaged 20 points per game to go along with 11.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists. In addition, Towns has shot 46.1 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from three-point distance.

At this point in time, there have been no reports about what the Knicks would want in return for Towns. Making a trade for him would not come cheap. Chicago would need to send out a big trade package including draft capital and young talent to bring him onboard.

This is simply an idea with no reporting backing it. Towns may not even be moved by New York. Even if he were placed on the trade block, there is no guarantee that the Bulls would have interest in trading for him.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Chicago as the deadline draws closer. With just a few days remaining to make a move, this is a scenario worth keeping an eye on.

As the month of January wraps up, the Chicago Bulls find themselves in a familiar spot. They aren’t good enough to be a legit contender to win a title but they aren’t bad enough to have a chance at a top three pick in this 2026 NBA Draft.

With a loaded draft class inside the top 5 approaching, the Bulls could launch their rebuild by drafting one of these top college players coming in. They could do so by moving on from key players at the trade deadline and picking up some assets.

One name that is being floated around is Coby White as rumors continue to swirl. But could Chicago move on from other players? It appears as if their direction is shockingly changing.

In a new report from Bleacher Report, Eric Pincus wrote on the Bulls situation ahead of the trade deadline. Many expect them to be sellers but Pincus wrote that the Bulls are expected to improve their postseason chances this season.

Per multiple league and agent sources, Chicago is looking to improve postseason chances this season while adding young, athletic players to complement its core duo of Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis.

The Bulls should have leverage heading into negotiations, with plentiful expiring contracts, draft picks and marginal pressure to rush for a bad deal, since the franchise can reach nearly $70 million in cap room this July.

That’s certainly not what many fans expected.

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been keeping herself busy amid the WNBA offseason. The two-time All-Star is coming off an impressive second season with the Sky, averaging 14.7 points on 45.8% shooting, a WNBA-best 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 30 games played in 2025. Despite Reese’s strong play, however, the Sky still finished with a 10-34 record. They tied the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the league as Chicago missed the playoffs for the second straight year.

Now that the WNBA offseason is in full swing, Reese has been preoccupied with her off-court activities. This includes her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast and her multiple endorsement deals.

Reese has also been spending some quality time with her rumored boyfriend, Orlando Magic big man Wendell Carter Jr.

Reese took center stage in the NBA’s post as she arrived at Uber Arena for the game.

The Magic secured a 118-111 win over the Grizzlies in Berlin. Carter logged nine points, six rebounds, three assists and a block in 29 minutes of action.

Orlando has one more international game before heading back to the United States. They will play the Grizzlies again in London on Sunday. Reese has already posted a few photos from the English capital, and she will likely be in attendance for the Magic-Grizzlies game again at O2 Arena.

Chicago Bulls slammed with brutal NBA trade deadline news

The Chicago Bulls are definitely expected to be sellers by the NBA trade deadline, and one of their top trade chips is guard Coby White.

The problem is that while White has developed into an impressive scorer and is still just 25 years old, his trade value may not be what the Bulls had hoped, and it’s due to a combination of factors.

Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times has revealed the primary issues with White’s trade stock, noting that the calf injury that has persisted for the former first-round pick since August has been a major variable.

White is in the final year of his contract and was obviously hoping to bolster his value for his next deal, but he has played in just 16 games this season and is averaging 19.2 points and 4.7 assists a night on 44.5/32.4/79.6 shooting splits.

So not only is White being viewed as a half-year rental around the league, but he hasn’t even played that well.

That begs the question: will the Bulls actually be able to receive anything of value in exchange for White?

You would think that a young player who registered 20.4 points per game on impressive efficiency last season would have a rather robust trade market, but that does not appear to be the case. If anything, White’s trade value has dropped significantly.

Additionally, White has never been known as much of a defender, so the fact that his offensive production has declined so considerably this year is a major red flag.

The University of North Carolina product was initially expected to land a multi-year contract worth in the neighborhood of $30 million annually next summer, but now, it’s looking like White may struggle to come close to that number.

White entered the NBA in 2019 and had an up and down first few seasons, floating back and forth between the starting lineup and the bench. He finally established himself as a starter during the 2023-24 campaign when he logged 19.1 points per game and has been in Chicago’s starting five ever since.

Surely, a contender could use White, but whether or not any team would be willing to give up anything of real value remains to be seen.

Bulls could have prime opportunity to trade for $179.3 million forward

The Chicago Bulls have not had the kind of start to the 2025-26 NBA season that they were hoping for thus far. However, there is still time to turn things around.

At the time of this writing, the Bulls hold a 17-17 record. If the season were to end today, Chicago would hold the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference. That would give them a chance to get into the playoffs by winning in the Play-In Tournament.

Billy Donovan has a good core already in place. That being said, there are still clear areas the Bulls must improve in order to become a contender.

Adding more three-point shooting should be an obvious priority. With that in mind, there is an intriguing trade target Chicago could consider that the front office has had previous interest in.

Last year, the Bulls were intrigued by the idea of trading for Michael Porter Jr. He was with the Denver Nuggets at the time, but was traded to the Brooklyn Nets during the NBA offseason. With the Nets struggling again this year, could they consider moving Porter for the right deal?

Porter would be an excellent trade target for Chicago. He’s not a star, but he’s a high-level three-point shooter and could fit nicely with the Bulls long-term.

So far this season, the 27-year-old wing has played in and started 26 games for Brooklyn. He has averaged 25.8 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 0.9 steals, while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 41 percent from three-point range.

Depending on the price tag, Chicago should absolutely discuss a potential deal with the Nets.

Again, Porter would not be a one-fix move for the Bulls. He’s not a superstar, although his numbers look very impressive this season. What he could bring to the court for Chicago is exactly what the team needs.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Bulls as the deadline draws closer. Making a move for Porter is just an idea at this point in time, but it’s one that would make an awful lot of sense for the team to consider.

Bulls linked to $48 million trade involving former DPOY candidate

Remember when the Chicago Bulls got off to that 5-0 start? Yeah, that now feels like eons ago as the Bulls are just 15-17 and are widely viewed as sellers with the NBA trade deadline looming in just over a month.

Coby White is viewed as a prime trade candidate for Chicago, and Nikola Vucevic, Ayo Dosunmu and Kevin Huerter are also viewed as potential trade chips.

But could the Bulls be aiming to actually buy on any players ahead of the deadline?

Orlando Silva of Pippen Ain’t Easy thinks so, naming Portland Trail Blazers big man Robert Williams III as a possible trade target for Chicago.

“The Bulls could make a swing for a player who could walk away after the season if the fit isn’t the best. He is 28, seven years younger than Nikola Vucevic, with better rim-running and rim-protecting skills than the Montenegrin player,” Silva wrote. “Williams won’t make the Bulls championship contenders, but for a team with so many issues on defense, adding a player of his defensive caliber could go a long way.”

But would Chicago actually surrender anything of value for a player slated to hit free agency at the end of the season?

There was a time when Williams was a budding stud during his days with the Boston Celtics. Back during the 2021-22 campaign, Williams finished seventh in Defensive Player of the Year voting and was named to Second-Team All-Defense after registering 10 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks over 29.6 minutes per game.

The problem is that Williams is rarely healthy.

Over the last three seasons, the Texas A&M product has played in a grand total of 47 contests, with nearly half of them (21 to be exact) coming this year. Since entering the league in 2018, Williams has played in 60 games just once.

He signed a four-year, $48 million contract extension with the Celtics in August 2021 but was traded to the Blazers in October 2023 in the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to Boston.

The Bulls could definitely stand to upgrade defensively, but the idea of giving up assets for the oft-injured Williams — who will likely walk in the summer — just doesn’t seem like a wise move for a rebuilding team.

Bulls’ Coby White Calls Out Giannis Antetokounmpo After Disrespectful Action

The Chicago Bulls came up short against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night, falling to the Central Division rival by a final score of 112-103.

While the game was a disappointment all the way around for the Bulls, it ended with quite a bit of drama. Giannis Antetokoumpo, the Bucks’ superstar forward, decided to dunk the ball with the lead and just 1.9 seconds left.

Of course, as most fans know, there is an unwritten rule that teams who are leading with the game out of reach do not try to score in that kind of a scenario. Chicago was clearly upset with Antetokounmpo for the disrespectful action and many players confronted him on the court.

Following the game, Bulls’ guard Coby White spoke out strongly about the incident.

“He shouldn’t have dunked the ball,” White said. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I said, ‘Bro, you’re better than that.’ The game is over with. Why you gotta do that? It’s a respect thing.”

Antetokounmpo put together a dominant performance against Chicago. He scored 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting to go along with eight rebounds in the win. Ryan Rollins scored 20 points for Milwaukee, while Bobby Portis chipped in with 17.

For the Bulls, White and Nikola Vucevic both scored 16 points to lead the way. Josh Giddey added 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in the loss.

Chicago now sits at 15-16 on the season. It hasn’t been the kind of year that the Bulls were hoping for, but there is still time to turn things around. At the very least, Chicago has been very competitive all season long.

Next up for the Bulls will be a Monday evening matchup at home against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hopefully, Chicago can take out some of their frustration with Antetokounmpo on the Timberwolves.

Bulls’ NBA trade deadline plans are already being sabotaged

The Chicago Bulls got off to a 5-0 start this season, but clearly, it was a mirage. Since then, they have gone just 5-14 and are back in NBA purgatory: not good enough to make a playoff run, but also not bad enough to land a top pick in the NBA Draft.

As such, the Bulls are widely expected to sell off some pieces between now and the February trade deadline, and guard Coby White appears to be their chief trade chip.

But unfortunately for Chicago, White’s trade value already appears to be falling off a cliff.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, for example, have expressed interest in White, but because the 25-year-old is headed toward free agency this summer, his price point has dipped “precipitously,” per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

It’s not just White’s contract that is an issue, either.

White had a breakout campaign last year, averaging 20.4 points per game while posting a true-shooting percentage of 60.1 percent. This season, however, has been a different story for the former first-round pick.

Through mid-December, White is registering a career-high 21.9 points a night, but on miserable 42.7/29.8/80.0 shooting splits in eight games (he missed considerable time due to a calf injury) White’s significant dip in three-point percentage is very alarming, and while he is taking 8.1 free throws per game, his conversion rate at the charity stripe has also fallen by over 10 percent.

What exactly is going on? Is White feeling the immense pressure of a contract year? Were his last couple of seasons of strong play just a fluke?

Couldn’t be lower

Whatever the case may be, White’s trade value couldn’t possibly be any lower at the moment. Teams are never eager to surrender a pool of assets for an impending free agent. Throw in White’s declining efficiency on top of that, and it’s a perfect storm of bad news for the Bulls.

Is there a chance Chicago ends up re-signing White in free agency? Possibly, but he is due to earn quite a hefty pay day, and if the Bulls do retain him, it could end up hurting them in the long run.

Expect Chicago to aggressively shop White over the next couple of months, but whether or not it is actually able to get a decent return is another story.

Bulls’ Josh Giddey sends strong message about Chicago’s future

The Chicago Bulls have not gotten off to a great start to begin the 2025-26 NBA season, holding a 9-12 record through the first 21 games of the year.

While the start has not been exactly what the Bulls had hoped, there have been some obvious bright spots. One of those has been the development and improvement of rising star guard Josh Giddey, who signed a lucrative contract with the team during the offseason.

Giddey has played in 19 of the team’s first 21 games, averaging an impressive 21 points per game to go along with 10 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and a steal. He has also been shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from the three-point line.

Despite the team not playing up to its standard, Giddey spoke out recently with a strong message about Chicago’s future.

As shared by Gavin Dorsey of Bulls Roundtable, Giddey doesn’t believe that the Bulls are very far off from where they want to be.

“I think we’re right there,” Giddey said. “It’s not like we’re getting blown out, apart from one or two games. We’re right there. Every game has come down to crunch time. We’ve got to find ways to get better down the stretch, and a lot of that falls on me handling the ball. I’ll continue to get better, watch film and learn how I can improve in that area.”

He continued forward, providing more reason for Chicago fans to be optimistic about the current state of the team.

“I feel like one win is all we need, just to get back on the right track,” Giddey said. “Having bodies, guys healthy would be a big bonus, but it’s the NBA. Everyone deals with injuries. We’ve got to find ways to win games… We’ve got to find ways to execute down the stretch, and I think if we clean up a few things and we give ourselves a chance to win those games, we’re in a much better position. I’m confident with where we’re at.”

Hopefully, Giddey is correct with his assessment of the Bulls.

In the meantime, plenty of trade rumors have popped up surrounding Chicago. Anthony Davis has been talked about as a potential target for the Bulls leading up to the trade deadline. It’s clear that the front office wants to win now.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the near future has in store for Chicago. Giddey is clearly expecting the team to turn things around.

The 2025-26 NBA season has not gotten off to a great start for the Chicago Bulls.

Despite coming into the season with hope of seeing a big turnaround from recent years, the Bulls are just 9-12 at this point in the year. Granted, it’s still early in the season, but the team has a lot of work to do to get back to the expectations they had for themselves.

So far this season, one of the main bright spots for Chicago has been Josh Giddey. After re-signing during the NBA offseason to a very lucrative long-term contract, Giddey has exploded to begin the year. In 19 games played, the 23-year-old point guard has averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game, while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from three-point distance.

While the Bulls haven’t been great so far this year, there have been a lot of rumors surrounding Chicago being a potential player in the trade market.

Anthony Davis has been one name that has mentioned in the Windy City. The Bulls have also been speculated as a potential trade destination for other players around the league.

Keeping that in mind, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report has named a very intriguing potential trade target for Chicago. In a new column, he suggested that Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II could be a potential player to watch for the Bulls.

“Injuries and all, Dereck Lively II may prove too ambitious,” Favale wrote. “Yet, with absences piling up and his extension-eligibility on the horizon, he could be more gettable than at any point over the past three trade deadlines.”

Lively would be a nice addition for Chicago. He has shown flashes of being a special player, but his role has not been consistent with the Mavericks. Injuries have played a major factor to begin his NBA career as well.

So far this season, Lively has played in just seven games and made four starts. Last season, he played in 36 games and made 29 starts, averaging 8.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Making an aggressive trade for a player with a concerning injury history might not be a wise decision for the Bulls. However, if Lively can live up to his full potential, Chicago could be acquiring a long-term centerpiece if it were to trade for him.

The big NBA news right now centers on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the reports that he wants to be traded this season. With Antetokounmpo getting hurt, he has put a little wrench into things for now.

As teams potentially inquire about landing Antetokounmpo in a trade, one report out of Chicago suggests that the star potentially wanted to come to Chicago at one point.

FOX Chicago’s Lou Canellis, put out a bombshell on Thursday that has Bulls fans likely shaking their heads. Canellis is very plugged into the Chicago Sports scene and, while not a reporter, maintains a relationship with Antetokounmpo.

Canellis appeared on 670 The Score’s Mully & Haugh show Thursday morning to discuss Antetokounmpo. It was there that he reported Antetokounmpo reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal. The snag? The Bulls weren’t interested.

“Giannis and his representatives reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal, and the Bulls said they weren’t interested. They were not interested in breaking up their young core or changing their course of direction.”

WHAT.

Look, Canellis will probably admit he’s not an insider but we did mention he has connections in the city. IF this is true, it makes no sense from the Bulls’ side of things.

The other thing to note is that this isn’t the first time reporters have said the Bulls don’t want to break up their core. There was a report that they wouldn’t do that with Anthony Davis, either. But Giannis? That feels like a no-brainer to go all in and get a superstar.

Giannis is on a three-year deal worth $175M. He will earn $54M this season, $58M next season, and $62M next season. So the salary hits are tough. But for a franchise that is struggling in another rebuild, you almost have to take that chance.

The ship appears to have sailed now for the Bulls. But the rest of the NBA are in wait and see mode.

To the surprise of pretty much everyone, the Chicago Bulls are the hottest team in the NBA right now. They have won five straight to open up the season and have played some very impressive basketball. While it is very early in the season, the Bulls are off to their best start since the 1996-97 season.

Even without an injured Coby White, the Bulls are firing on all cylinders. Josh Giddey has been a force since signing his extension. During Friday night’s win over the Knicks, Giddey scored 32 points along with 10 rebounds. He was just one assist shy of a triple double.

During the five game stretch, Nikola Vucevic has been playing good consistent basketball, and Matas Buzelis is proving he can be a star in the NBA.

It seems the Bulls are putting everyone on notice now. Sports Illustrated’s Justin Grasso has listed the Bulls as the most shocking start to the 2025-25 NBA season.

Grasso listed the Bulls first among three teams as most surprising start to the season. Grasso mentions that winning five straight isn’t foreign and is common, but it’s shocking simply because it’s the Bulls.

He’s right though. It clearly seemed it was gonna be another season where the Bulls can’t contend for a playoff run, but have enough talent where they can’t start a rebuild. It’s also more surprising due to the Bulls trading their top players from the “win-now mode”

“ Just last year, Chicago cut ties with some of its biggest veterans like DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. Lonzo Ball was another trade candidate over the summer. The veterans from Chicago’s latest “win-now” window are gone.”

The Chicago Bulls are undefeated in 2025-26. After finishing 39-43 last year and doing very little during the offseason, they’ve won four straight to open the year. It’s been a dream start with Coby White injured and a seemingly tough schedule. If there was ever a time to believe in the Bulls, it seems like it’s right now. Sadly, that’s not how one insider sees it, as he doesn’t think this start will hold up.

The Chicago Bulls started ranked 22nd in Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report’s NBA Power Rankings. After four straight wins and rising to the top of the Eastern Conference, Chicago has similarly risen in the rankings, but only up to 16th in the NBA. Bailey still doesn’t believe in them, and he believes they need are “waiting for the other shoe to drop.”

“Yes, you read that record in the subheader right. The Chicago Bulls are indeed undefeated. And several members of the young core are off to strong starts,” he wrote. Josh Giddey’s 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.8 assists have really helped. The Matas Buzelis breakout is here, as he’s up to nearly 17 points per game. Even Tre Jones is doing well, averaging 12.5 points with 7.5 assists. This is all without Coby White playing a single minute.

“However, Chicago currently has one of the weakest marks for strength of schedule in the league. And its next seven games are against above-.500 teams,” Bailey continued. “We may have to see how the Bulls perform through this stretch before we really have a feel for how good this team might be.” For what it’s worth, the opening stretch was supposed to be tough because of some of the teams Chicago has faced.

The Atlanta Hawks were supposed to be a playoff team. So were the Detroit Pistons. The Orlando Magic were, too. The Sacramento Kings were not, but that’s three games against supposed playoff teams, and three wins for the Bulls. The Bulls have endured mediocrity over the past few seasons, finishing no higher than 6th but no lower than 10th in four years. And this off-season has been more about the Josh Giddey contract situation than any new trades, although they have managed to secure Tre Jones’s signature once more, and traded Lonzo Ball for Isaac Okoro from the Cleveland Cavaliers – a move that has surprised and even confused some fans and commentators.

The Bulls’ NBA Chances

Even though they’ve not set the league alight in recent years, the Bulls remain one of the most popular franchises in the NBA. Despite their popularity, they’re priced at around 750/1 to be crowned NBA champions.

The popularity of the NBA as a betting market, which sees odds offered at online casinos, sportsbooks, and even esports betting sites, means punters can get bigger odds than this if they shop around. A serious error meant the Bulls outbid themselves for Williams’ signature, and it ended up costing them. They want to avoid a similar situation this year, and their reluctance to go big on another player that may yet flatter to deceive has seen them submit a contract offer of around $20m a year for promising but unproven youngster Josh Giddey. For his part, Giddey believes $30m a year to be a fair amount, matching the $150.5m five-year deal signed by Jalen Suggs and the Orlando Magic.

Matas Buzelis – Potential All-Star In The Making

One player who is being tipped to produce the goods for the Bulls is Matas Buzelis. Buzelis was chosen as the number 11 pick in last year’s draft, despite being expected to land as a top-three pick.

He went on to earn All-Rookie Second Team Honors, and Bulls executive Arturas Karnisovas said of the 6”10 forward: “He has so much skill in his bag. Shooting threes, blocking shots, running the break, dunking the ball, he’s athletic, he can put it on the floor, create for others, so we’ve seen a lot of it.”

The Season Ahead

There are still a couple of months before the season starts, which should provide the Bulls plenty of opportunity to sort out contract situations and potentially complete another trade or two.

Their first game against the Knicks, on November 1, will give some indication as to whether fans can expect an improved finish or whether they should expect more mid-table play. Current favourites for the Championship are the Oklahoma City Thunder, at 5/2, with other fancied teams including the Denver Nuggets (8/1), Houston Rockets (8/1), and the Cleveland Cavaliers (8/1). The Knicks, the Bulls’ first opponents of the season, are next, in the eyes of the bookmakers, at 9/1.

In the 2025 off-season so far the team has made several key changes in personnel, and more may be on the way. This is what you need to know about the main moves, and how the Bulls are shaping up for the start of the new season.

The Bulls’ 24/25 was a season of two halves. The team managed to keep the ball well throughout the season, ranking second in possessions across the whole league. But they struggled to turn that into points, with an overall offensive rating of 114.1 – putting them 20th out of 30 teams on attacking metrics.

The second half did pick up steam, with young players like Josh Giddey and Coby White increasing their value significantly after some strong showings. But it wasn’t enough to get the team into the playoffs, failing to make it for three seasons in a row. This year, the team is looking to make substantial investments in rebuilding. These are the big moves.

The Key Additions are Shaping Up

As of writing this, the Bull have signed three players in the offseason.

Obrich is a tall, heavy-set big man who scouts say has a strong basketball IQ and defensive versatility. However, he is not currently a high usage player and needs to up his game involvement to shine in the NBA.

Existing New Prospects Could Come Good

Neither of these signings is likely to swing NBA betting odds by themselves. However, top sportsbooks price in more than individual signings. Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball have both left already this season, to the Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers respectively.

Also possibilities to depart are veteran big man Nikola Vucevic and the recently underachieving Patrick Williams. Both play in positions impacted by the signings of Essuenge and Okoro, and both have been key parts of the recent underwhelming Bulls’ seasons.

Vucevic is apparently being closely monitored by the Los Angeles Lakers, although the current official team line is he will not be traded.

Meanwhile Williams has also been the subject of trade talk. Utah Jazz centre Rudy Golbert and RJ Barret of The Toronto Raptors have apparently been considerations, with Vucevic also mentioned as being on the line.

If Williams stays on his big contract, he will be required to prove himself in a potentially more bit part role if he is to see a renewal in the future.

Front office for the Bulls has remained mostly the same, signalling ownership are mostly positive with the team’s outlook and progress. Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Artūras Karnišovas and GM Eversley both had their contracts extended.

Both have expressed satisfaction and ongoing support with head coach Billy Donovan. While the team’s performance has remained middling, Donovan’s attacking style has made matches more exciting and kept fans engaged.

However, on the coaching staff side, some players were reportedly not happy with the recent firing of shooting coach and Director of Player Development Peter Patton.

According to the Chicago Sun Times one player said that Patton “the real deal” and was shocked at his unceremonious departure.

Off-court the Bulls’ match attendance also continued to shine. The team brought in 825,659 fans over the season for 1st place in the NBA attendance rankings.

The Overall Outlook Uncertain

The Bulls 9th place finish in the Eastern Conference last year, and a transitional off-season, suggests a team that could push on for playoff spots or might fall into another middling season.

The off-season has seen what could be season-long injuries to key players on rival teams, such as the Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton, the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard (who may even be retiring).

The Chicago Bulls have an interesting concoction of good NBA players and interesting names on their roster. Most of the NBA world knows about Matas Buzelis, Coby White, and Josh Giddey. According to Bleacher Report analyst Dan Favale, far too few know about Ayo Dosunmu.

“Dosunmu is more well-known than [other unheralded NBA players] but eons from a household name. Discussions about him have a tendency to gravitate toward what he isn’t—mainly, a true point guard or knockdown shooter. Whatever,” Favale said.

Dosunmu is 6’5″, and at that height, he really “blurs the line” between wing and guard. He probably shouldn’t run the offense more than a few times, but he does finish well and provide good rim pressure for someone who is that height.

“He has also shown glimmers of improved playmaking coming around ball screens and knows how to facilitate when attacking downhill,” Favale continued. “Payton Pritchard and Tyrese Haliburton were the only players last season to match his scoring efficiency (57.1 percent) and assist rate (12.4) on drives while finishing at least as many of them (371).”

Dosunmu is also a two-way player. He has spent a lot of his time with the Bulls defending the opposition’s point of attack, which is where he excels. However, he has also shown plenty of ability to hang with bigger small or even power forwards. He can defend multiple positions and has good offensive skills, too. That’s rare in the NBA.

There was talk that Dosunmu would get traded this offseason because he has just one year left on his contract, and the Bulls are currently kind of directionless. As of now, that isn’t happening, which might be a very wise plan for the Chicago front office.

The Chicago Bulls drafted Patrick Williams fourth overall, and last year extended him on a five-year, $90 million deal. Now, one NBA analyst says it’s high time to trade him and put an end to this nightmarish partnership. Williams has struggled to really excel at the NBA level with the Bulls.

There is no bigger believer in Patrick Williams than the Chicago Bulls. They surprisingly drafted him fourth overall in 2020 over Isaac Okoro (whom they now have), Onyeka Okongwu, Tyrese Haliburton, and a few other prospects who easily have been better NBA players. Then, they extended him for $90 million when few had any interest in his free agency at all. The Bulls, for some reason, have loved Williams.

But that doesn’t mean it’s the best place for him. The Bulls have gone nowhere with him, and it doesn’t look like Williams can ever be anything in Chicago. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley said that he is one of five players that’s still under 25 but are in major need of a change of scenery.

“That’s not to say his stagnation should be blamed on the organization. They’ve given him one chance after the next to find his footing, and it just hasn’t happened,” Buckley noted. “At times, he has appeared way too passive, but when he’s tried to dial up his aggression, that hasn’t worked, either.”

Maybe Williams is just not a good NBA player, but he has good defensive tools and shoots 39.2% from three for his career. Some teams could make use of that, and since he’s only 23, Buckley said it was probably foolish to totally abandon hope on him. It is just well past time to change his scenery.

“It doesn’t take much imagination to see him comfortably and capably handling a three-and-D role, but that would still make him a massive disappointment in Chicago,” Buckley added. Fans don’t like Williams like the front office does, but they’d still prefer to see something out of a top-five pick making almost $20 million a year.

If he were traded, all expectations would go away, and since the Bulls would have to attach draft capital just to get rid of him, plenty of teams might consider taking a flyer. “The weighty pressure to perform would be off his shoulders, and he may not be asked to do more than dig in defensively and shoot from distance—skills he has already showcased at this level,” Buckley said.

The Bulls wanted more from Williams, but they’re not going to get it no matter how much they try, so it’s time to call it and move on.

Vucevic may be parting ways with the Chicago Bulls through a buyout. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer on a recent stream at Bleacher Report, the Bulls have struggled to generate trade interest for the 34-year-old big man.

A buyout would mark the end of a nearly four-year career for Vucevic in Chicago, where he averaged 18.2 points and 10.7 rebounds across 330 games. Despite putting up reliable numbers, his fit with the Bulls’ evolving core has come into question, especially as the team concentrates on youth and flexibility heading into the 2025–26 campaign.

If the Bulls and Vucevic agree to a buyout, he would likely forfeit a portion of his remaining salary (reportedly around $20 million for the year) in exchange for his release. Bulls would then waive him, triggering a 48-hour waiver window where other teams could claim his contract. Given the lack of trade interest and the size of his deal, it’s likely he would clear waivers.

At that point, Vucevic would become an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any team on a likely veteran minimum contract. For the Bulls, a buyout opens a roster spot and reduces their financial burden, aligning with a potential midseason pivot toward younger talent.

They’re better than the Charlotte Hornets, but they’re not as good as the Orlando Magic, which is not really a good place to be in.

Several NBA teams are in need of change this offseason. The Bulls are, according to one NBA insider, among the most needy. Will they get it? That remains to be seen, but the ever-present need for new direction is back once again.

Bleacher Report analyst Dan Favale ranked Chicago as the team second-most in need of a change out of all NBA teams. Only the Phoenix Suns need to tear it all down and change things more than the Chicago Bulls. That’s not an ideal situation to be in.

“Virtually everyone outside the Chicago Bulls organization has spent the past decade or so calling for the franchise to embrace an overhaul,” Favale said. “The team has instead doubled down on its treadmill of sub-mediocrity, seemingly going out of its way to average just over 38 wins for the past 10 seasons (after adjusting for shortened schedules).”

He did credit the Bulls for ending the DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine eras. But he said that they still remain without a clear plan. “Nobody on the roster qualifies as a viable cornerstone, even if Chicago is about to pay Josh Giddey like one,” Favale added. “Matas Buzelis could perhaps turn into that North Star, but if that’s not a reach, it at least isn’t the case right now.”

The future should be Chicago’s focus, and that, in Favale’s eyes, means getting assets for the expiring contracts of Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and Nikola Vucevic. In fact, he implored them to consider moving on from everyone not named Matas Buzelis. “Letting [Josh] Giddey walk in restricted free agency would make for bad optics, but paying him in the ballpark of $30 million per year is potentially worse,” he added.

As the NBA heads closer to the offseason, the Chicago Bulls have a lot of roster questions to address. Not the least of which concerns Josh Giddey. The Australian star averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game in the 2024-2025 season and is set to become a restricted free agent this summer.

Considered a vital piece of the Bulls’ overall attack, the team will look to retain Giddey, and they may be able to do it at a reduced rate. That’s good news, considering that the Chicago guard helped fill some of the offensive void after the club traded Zach Lavine to the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-way deal in February.

Coming off a 39-43 season, the Bulls can’t afford to lose any of their current weapons, unless it somehow involves a trade for a top-flight NBA talent. And even if they do pull off a deal, they will want to keep Giddey in the fold. His return and a few other offseason moves could determine if the 2025-2026 squad will be mediocre… or true contenders.

The deadline deal that saw Lavine depart was essentially what thrust Giddey into a bigger spotlight. In the final portion of the season, he saw his numbers surge. Even the guard himself admitted that he felt as though he needed to step up after the move, adding that he no longer felt like the ‘new guy’ on Chicago’s squad.

“The first half of the year, it’s a new situation, so naturally there’s going to be an inclination to come in here and try to fit in,” Giddey said, according to Yahoo Sports. “That was my initial mindset. I never wanted to come in and try to not ruffle feathers, but change the whole dynamic of the way guys played and the way the team played.

“But I think it took me a little while to find my feet, and obviously, the trade deadline happened when Zach got moved, and he was obviously such a big part of what we did here.”

Over the last ten games of the season, Giddey racked up 207 points, 96 rebounds, and 92 assists. Those numbers stack up against almost any other guard in the NBA, and it’s evidence as to why the Bulls would like to see how much further he can develop from there.

Bulls Can Match Any Deal For Giddey

Josh Giddey could get approximately $25 million per year during the offseason from Chicago. And while he’s free to explore his options outside the Windy City? He’s still a restricted free agent. So, barring some team offering him some out-of-this-world contract, it’s more than likely he will be back in the red and black next season.

Having that final say over Giddey’s destination puts Chicago in a perfect position to enter discussions on a potential long-term contract. They know the max number that Giddey could be offered, so they already have a ceiling on how much they will have to pay to keep this breakout superstar. If the Bulls can lock him up for the next 4-5 seasons, it would be at a bonus buy.

Still just 22 years old, the 6’8″ guard looks to be trending upward, but there’s no way to account for how he will perform over the long haul. Many media sources have pointed to the contract that teammate Trent Williams signed with the team as a cautionary tale. Williams signed a five-year, $90 million deal last summer, and his numbers on the court didn’t match his numbers in the scorebook.

The Bulls are still a fairly young, developing team, and by holding on to Giddey, they could build the team around his unique set of skills. Numerous reports state that he will be seeking a five-year, $120 million deal. For Chicago, that’s an investment in the future, and one they are certainly going to make.

The Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls have teamed up to collaborate in a way no two sports teams ever really have. In the past, fans have designed fake jerseys that merge the two sports teams of a prominent city, but it’s never been actually done until now.

Pretty soon, the Chicago White Sox will be wearing red. They typically wear black and white, as their name suggests, but they’re partnering with the NBA franchise across the street (metaphorically) to come up with something bold and new.

The jerseys will be Bulls red and black on the sleeves with the White Sox logo there. They will also have pinstripes to further merge the two franchises. It’s the first on-field jersey combining brand elements from both MLB and the NBA, and they will debut on Friday against the Houston Astros.

Per ESPN, Bulls executive director of creative services Jon Shoemaker said, “The Bulls were proud to contribute to the White Sox efforts and to be a part of creating the first-ever MLB jersey to feature NBA team marks. With the signing of Talen Horton-Tucker, the Chicago Bulls have finalized their roster heading into the 2024-25 season. The sixth-year guard spent his first three seasons in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers before he was traded to the Utah Jazz in 2022.

The minimum-salary contract will pay Horton-Tucker nearly $2.5 million, while the Bulls will have the option to waive anytime on or before January 7, 2025. News of the deal comes just one day after the Bulls agreed on a two-way contract with forward E.J. Liddell. Both players signed with the Bulls in September, and Horton-Tucker became the first player with an Exhibit 10 contract to then make the team’s opening night roster.

In last night’s preseason finale against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Horton-Tucker made a clutch layup with four seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. The Bulls eventually walked away with the 139-137 win.

Chicago originally signed Liddell to an Exhibit 10 contract in September, and this two-way deal reflects that they were impressed by his play in camp.

The signing ensures that E.J. Liddell will remain with the Chicago Bulls organization as we head into the 2024-25 regular season. It is likely, though, that Liddell will spend a majority of his time with the G League Windy City Bulls.

Liddell played college ball at The Ohio State University, and was taken in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. The young forward then made his way to Atlanta and Phoenix before ending up in Chicago.

The 6-foot-7 23 year old is still looking to make a name for himself in the NBA. After missing the entirety of his rookie year due to a torn ACL, he played in just eight games for the Pelicans last season. In those eight appearances, Liddell scored four points and grabbed five rebounds while averaging just under three minutes per game.

Chicago will face the Cleveland Cavaliers at 8 p.m. ET tonight before opening the regular season against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, October 23.

The Chicago Bulls will unveil their first Ring of Honor at the United Center to celebrate the history of the franchise.

The first class will feature 13 individuals that had a significant impact on the franchise. Those 13 individuals are: Artis Gilmore, Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, Johnny “Red” Kerr, Dick Klein, Jerry Krause, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Jerry Sloan, Chet Walker, Tex Winter. In addition to the 13 indivdiuals, they will also honor the and the 1995-96 team, which went 72-10 and won the 1996 NBA Championship.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the two parties are at odds on “multiple fronts” about DeRozan’s deal. “The Bulls want to bring DeMar DeRozan back, whether that’s on an extension or in free agency,” Charania said on FanDuel’s Run It Back. “They’ve been talking about an extension, but I’ve been told the sides are apart on multiple fronts. Years, salary. Also, DeMar DeRozan wants to see where this Bulls team goes.”

DeMar DeRozan, 34, is in the final year of a three-year, $81.9 million contract with the Bulls that he signed in 2021. That transaction was perceived as a startling overpay at the time, but DeRozan has proven to be a value instead.

Donovan saw enough in the 23-year-old to name him a starter for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Last season, he started 11 more games than he did as a rookie, but the arrival of Patrick Beverley in February pushed him to the bench. Dosunmu’s debut season cost him some efficiency. He hit 49.3 percent from the field, but his three-point efficiency declined by more than 6% (37.4 in 2021-22 to 31.2).

The Bulls believe Dosunmu, the hometown kid, has long-term potential since he received a more lucrative contract than many expected. Dosunmu has a decent chance to stay a rotation player for the Bulls this season, with Ball unlikely to play again due to a knee injury, but he must improve his shot-making because the Bulls added help in the backcourt. Chicago signed free agent guard Jevon Carter (42.1% from three), a Proviso East (Ill.) player, to a three-year, $20 million contract, and re-signed Coby White (37.2% from three) to a three-year, $40 million contract.

The next shoe in the Air Jordan signature line is set to drop in 2023 as the XXXVIII model and it’s ready to pay homage to Michael Jordan’s performance in the 1993 NBA Finals.

Designed for comfort, durability and performance on the court, the Air Jordan XXXVIII will feature a new plate technology called “X-Plate” which is a nod to the straps on the Air Jordan VIII, is combined with a radial herringbone traction pattern and a full-length Zoom Strobel unit. To make it simple, this model uses technology that was drawn from the insights of Michael Jordan’s impeccable footwork.

Could the Chicago Bulls even make a move into the first round of the draft?

To be completely honest, I have no idea what their intentions are by trading up, or how they intend TO move up. There’s obviously some legit talent across the entire board, but when you have no picks or players to trade, it’s not exactly easy to move up in a draft.

There’s lots of prospects I like towards the end of the first, beginning of the second. This roster will need a lot of work if the Bulls intend to be competitive again, as last season was a disaster outside of the play-in victory. They’ve been listed as a good fit for the recently released Chris Paul, but I’m not sure that fixes this squad.

The bulls may be among Deandre Ayton’s trade suitors

The Phoenix Suns’ season ended on Thursday when the Denver Nuggets knocked them out of the playoffs. As a result, Deandre Ayton’s name is becoming more widely known in the trade.

Deandre Ayton is a 24-year-old former No. 1 choice whose career with the franchise has been rocky. After a strong performance against the Clippers in the first round of the playoffs (16.8 points and 11.2 rebounds). Ayton missed the series finale due to injured ribs, which summed up his Sun’s career, which has been marred by fits and starts.

One NBA GM told Sean Deveney of Heavy “It’s almost certain they will look into trading him. I think they feel like they can do all right with a mishmash of decent centers and changing their focus on getting better talent around those two-star guys. It is a tough market for trading centers, though. They are about to find that out. The team that might be the most interesting in getting into that mix is Chicago, and I’ve heard he’s on the list, at least. A lot still depends on the (draft) lottery.”

The Bulls, of course, have a center in place—Nikola Vucevic, a free agent this summer who averaged 17.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 52.4% shooting, and 3.2 assists last season. The obvious next step would be to re-sign him, but given the haul the Bulls offered Orlando to obtain Vucevic in 2021 (Wendell Carter Jr., a first-rounder used on Franz Wagner, and, most likely, a first-rounder this year), Chicago is hesitant to let him depart.

From the Bulls’ perspective, Nikola Vucevic is a free agent this summer, so pursuing Ayton makes too much sense. DeMar DeRozan, on the other hand, would almost certainly be a trade candidate if they were aiming for an Ayton deal.

Could the Chicago Bulls peruse Dillon Brooks in free agency?

The 2022-2023 NBA season is coming to an end, as we enter the middle part of the semifinals. The Chicago Bulls were eliminated in the play-in tournament by the Miami Heat, who went on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks, the number one seed. This was an underwhelming season for the Bulls as they were projected to be much better, and maybe even contend in the Eastern Conference.

With the injury to Lonzo Ball looking worse and worse by the day, the Bulls are in a tough spot this off season. What needs to be improved in order for this solid roster to be more competitive next year? Changes are likely to come, the question is just what will change.

Today, John Hollinger of The Athletic wrote a piece about the looming free agency situation revolving around forward Dillon Brooks. He mentioned the Chicago Bulls being a possible destination for the most hated man in the NBA at the moment.

In particular, one can see how Dillon Brooks might be tempting for Chicago, which found its footing towards the end of last season despite a paucity of trustworthy forwards.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Brooks has been in the news for all the wrong reasons the last few weeks, as he recently ran his mouth to LeBron James, and was then promptly eliminated by the Los Angelas Lakers a few days later. He was a ‘meme’ and a laughingstock on social media immediately after and was clowned for his comments.

Report: Bulls ‘all in’ on matching offers for Coby White

Coby White is set to be a restricted free agent after spending four seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls have a variety of personnel decisions to make this offseason, including guard Coby White. Coby White is due to become a restricted free agency, and after seeing his name circulate in trade rumors over the last two seasons, the Bulls are now leaning toward matching any offer’ for him.

Chicago Sun-Time beat writer Joe Cowley is reporting that the Bulls will likely match the offer:

That still leaves a huge hole at point guard, especially with Beverley likely elsewhere. No problem. White showed enough for the organization to believe in him taking the starting reins, but that comes at a price. White is a restricted free agent, and the Bulls will let the market set a price for him, likely matching it once it does.

There’s no reason why White won’t be in the $14-$15 million per year range.

The upcoming offseason will be crucial for White in terms of his career and role as will the 2023-24 season and seeing Chicago Bulls live scores with White’s impact. White has mentioned his desire to be a starting point guard and his affection for the city of Chicago. However, the Bulls have a few options at guard, and White did have a shot to start early in his career.

In 74 games this season, White averaged a career-low 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on 37% shooting from 3-point range.

Chicago Bulls Draft Lottery Odds Improve After Tie-Breaker

The Chicago Bulls won a tiebreaker with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday

For organizations that had the same record at the end of the regular season, the league held tiebreakers. When the order is determined, the winners of the various tiebreakers either improved their chances of receiving the No. 1 choice in the lottery or were placed better in the second half of the first round.

According to K.C Johnson “After the tiebreaker drawings, the Bulls are 11th in the draft order and own an 8.5 percent chance to move into the top-four picks. That has to happen for them to keep the pick or else it conveys to the Orlando Magic as the final piece to the Nikola Vucevic trade.

So the Bulls have 1.8% odds to land the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.

The Chicago Bulls currently have an 8.5 percent chance of climbing into the top four and a 1.8 percent chance of obtaining the first overall draft pick. They would have had an 8.0 percent chance to keep their pick and a 1.7 percent chance to be league champions if they had lost the tiebreaker against the Thunder.

The odds of the Chicago Bulls losing their pick to the Orlando Magic are 91.5 percent. And yes, that hurts a lot, especially in light of how much worse those odds were just a little over a month ago. Just 65.2% of the time did the Magic retain their pick on March 6. The Bulls were also only one defeat away from increasing that probability to 63.0 percent.

The Chicago Bulls do not currently hold a second-round selection in the June draft. In exchange for Otto Porter Jr., their second-round pick was dealt to the Wizards. And as a consequence of the league’s decision for inappropriate communication in their acquisition of Lonzo Ball, a second-round selection obtained from the Cavaliers was forfeited.

The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery will take place on May 16 and begin at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The 2023 NBA Draft will be on June 22.

Coby White wants to remain with the Bulls in free agency

The once No. 7 overall pick for the Bulls in the 2018 NBA draft is out of his rookie deal and will become a restricted free agent this summer. The Bulls will have the right to offer him a qualifying offer and match any offer sheet White finds in free agency.

According to Coby White “It is new for me obviously being a restricted free agent so I hope it works out for the best,” White said on Saturday. “I love Chicago. I love my teammates. I love the front office. So, you know, I would like to be back but a lot of that’s out of my control. It’s a business at the end of the day and I understand decisions have to be made. So if I’m back, great. But if I’m not, you got to live with it.”

Coby White is going to be a restricted free agent this offseason. He said that he would like to be back with the Chicago Bulls but knows it's a business at the end of the day. "I love Chicago."

Coby said that he wants to be a starting point guard in the NBA.

Overall, White performed admirably for the Bulls this season, averaging just under a 10-3-3 line and showing significant development as a defender and distributor.

Previously regarded as a one-dimensional scorer who need the ball in his hands, Coby White has improved his game on both ends of the court. His ball security and decision-making have improved, as evidenced by his 74 total turnovers this season, a new season low.

Cody White defensive abilities passed both the eye and the statistics tests. For the first time in his career, he had a 114 defensive rating and a positive defensive box plus/minus. He had a -1.2 DBPM or worse in each of the previous three seasons. White is also one of the Bulls’ greatest perimeter shooters, having made more over 37% of his 4.6 tries per game this season.

Coby White has grown and developed a lot since joining the league. His leadership is one of the outside-the-box scores he indicated he wants to improve on. He’s gaining traction in the communication area, becoming more vocal both on and off the floor.

3 keys for the Chicago Bulls in their elimination game against the Toronto Raptors

The Chicago Bulls to face off against the Toronto Raptors in the play-in tournament

The Chicago Bulls have narrowly evaded the play-in tournament for the past few years leading up to this season. Heading into this year, believe it or not, there was hope! Lonzo Ball was supposed to come back, Andre Drummond was signed, Alex Caruso and the rest of the team were getting healthy.

Many experts and analysts around the NBA thought the Chicago Bulls would be a threat to do at least a little damage in the Eastern Conference, but they were very wrong.

Fast forward a few months and a lot has changed. Lonzo Ball is now questionable for NEXT season, the roster has changed a bit, and now the future is very uncertain. Things went so poorly this season that the Bulls barely squeaked in as the ten seed and will be traveling to Canada to take on the Raptors in the 9-10 elimination game. DeMar DeRozan has a chance to play the villain role against the team he spent nine seasons with.

The Bulls are led by the high scoring duo of DeRozan and Zach LaVine, who each averaged about 25 points per game this past regular season. Center Nikola Vucevic was also a huge contributor to the team’s ‘success’, if that’s what you want to call it. He averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game and appeared in all 82 games of the regular season.

In order to beat the Toronto Raptors and move on, the Chicago Bulls must keep these three keys in mind.

1. Take the crowd out of the game, early

Toronto is one of the hardest places to play in the NBA, and Jurassic Park will be in full effect on Wednesday for this play-in game. The home court advantage for the Raptors is evident as this season they went 27-14 in Canada, as opposed to their bad 14-27 road record. This isn’t an easy place to take a victory, especially in the playoffs.

In the regular season, the Chicago Bulls were taken down by Toronto twice. Granted those matchups are from months ago, and Pascal Siakam missed two of those games, they’re still nice for reference.

The Chicago Bulls really need to come out with a high-level intensity in order to stay in this game. The Raptor defense is pretty superb as it currently sits ninth in the league in defensive rating. It’s led by forward OG Anunoby and newly acquired center Jakob Poeltl, as the length and size of this team can be tough to deal with.

They also have more willing defenders like Scottie Barnes and Siakam that already have playoff experience, which is extremely valuable. The length will be a huge problem for Chicago, but this team needs to worry about taking the crowd out of the game as soon as possible. If the Bulls get down by 10-12 points in the first quarter, it could be a long night.

Bulls’ Lonzo Ball may need third surgery on knee

Lonzo Ball was already ruled out for the rest of the season and hasn’t played since Jan. 14, 2022

Lonzo Ball has already undergone two surgeries since his knee problem forced him to miss last January’s game. The first was planned to have a six- to eight-week return window. Ball, however, did not resume his playing career during the 2021–22 campaign and was unable to prepare for the start of the current regular season.

According to ESPN’S Adrian Wojnarowski “The Chicago Bulls guard might need a third surgery on the right knee injury that’s forced him to miss the past 14 months”

Lonzo Ball signed a four-year, $80 million sign-and-trade agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans before the 2021 season, and during his first season in Chicago, he averaged 13 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists before suffering an injury. Up until he tore his meniscus on January 14 and missed the rest of the season, the team went 22-13 with Ball. In the end, Chicago struggled to a 46-36 record and was defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round.

Ball was formally ruled out for the remainder of the season by the team, immediately diminishing expectations that he would make a comeback in 2023. After a second knee surgery in September, Ball reportedly couldn’t run or jump; these concerns continue to hinder Ball’s recuperation

After learning that Ball wouldn’t be coming back, the Bulls signed veteran guard Patrick Beverley in February, shortly after he was dealt to and released by the Orlando Magic. Beverly has played in seven games for the Bulls, who are presently 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 30-36 record. In those games, Beverly has averaged 4.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.

Goran Dragic’s time with the Bulls has ended

Goran Dragic is now a free agent, after a release from the Chicago Bulls.

Goran Dragic was considered a seasoned point guard option for the Bulls before to the 2022–2023 campaign while Lonzo Ball recovered from left knee surgery. Dragic won’t even stay with the team until the end of the season, it turns out.

The guard, who played in 51 games this year but hasn’t seen the floor since February 13, was released by the Bulls on Tuesday. He missed the two games at the United Center this past weekend before the All-Star break and the two after because of knee pain.

According to KC Johnson “Dragic would have seen his time cut even if he did return to the lineup since the Bulls signed Patrick Beverley last week. the decision to waive the guard was mutual because of this, allowing Dragic to find a team where he’d have more playing time for the rest of the season”.

Gordan Dragic, who is in his 15th NBA season, has played in 51 games this year off the bench, averaging 6.4 points and 2.7 assists in an average of 15.4 minutes per game. In November, when he played 17.7 minutes per game on average, averaging 7.8 points and 2.8 assists, he had his most fruitful month.

The move creates a roster spot for the Bulls, who sit roughly $1.2 million under the luxury tax. That means if they find the right fit, they could sign a player to a prorated minimum contract for the remainder of the season and still avoid the luxury tax.

Chicago Bulls trending towards adding veteran point guard

Russell Westbrook to the Chicago Bulls is starting to pick up momentum…

The Chicago Bulls stayed put at the 2023 NBA trade deadline, being one of two teams not to make a trade this season. Instead, Bulls brass believes this team has enough to make a run and opted not to ‘blow it up’ and trade pieces away.

And now, they could be in the market for a veteran point guard.

With Lonzo Ball likely not returning this season, the Bulls are looking at the buyout market to add a veteran point guard to come in and run the offense. There aren’t a lot of options but one player that is being connected to them is Russell Westbrook.

After being traded from Los Angeles to Utah in a three-team deal, Westbrook is expected to be bought out and can sign with any team. If he does hit the buyout market, NBA analyst Adrian Wojnarowski mentions the Bulls as a team to keep an eye on:

“If he gets out into the buyout market, there is significant interest in Westbrook,” said Woj, via Real GM. “I think one team you got to watch and I think will be a frontrunner are the Chicago Bulls. Billy Donovan certainly coached Westbrook in Oklahoma City. If you go further down his bench, Mo Cheeks, Josh Longstaff… There is a staff of former OKC assistants who all had good relationships and worked well with Westbrook with the Bulls. And you could see how he fits just bringing some energy and fire to that team’s bench.”

Westbrook and Billy Donovan have a past going back to Oklahoma City, so it does make sense.

Is Russell Westbrook the best option for the Chicago Bulls?

Add in that we’ve seen this team already with Ayo Dosunmu, Coby White, Goran Dragic and Alex Caruso at the guard position, and the Bulls may look at Westbrook as the other option to at least try.

Did the Dallas Mavericks win the Kyrie Irving Trade?

How much better are the Dallas Mavericks with Kyrie Irving?

We are four days away from the NBA trade deadline and the first big domino has fell. After requesting a trade less than 48 hours ago, Kyrie Irving is now a Dallas Maverick. At first thought, one would think this is a homerun for the Dallas Mavericks with a backcourt of Luka and Kyrie. Once you dive a little deeper into the numbers and see what Dallas lost, it’s much closer to being somewhat of a single than a homer.

Undeniably, this takes the Dallas Mavericks offense to another level. It allows Luka to not have to shoulder the entire offense for majority of the game. Luka ranks 2^nd in usage rate this season (38.3%) so the addition of Kyrie Irving has to lift a big burden off of his shoulders. While the Dallas Mavericks do get better offensively, they still have glaring holes on the defensive side as well as in the paint.

Dallas ranks 24^th in defensive rating and this is with the services of one of their better defenders in Dorian Finney Smith. While Kyrie has been showing better effort defensively over the past few months, he is still a below average defender. He ranks in the bottom half of defensive rating amongst guards which puts them at a disadvantage on that end of the court with Luka also ranking in the bottom half.

Replacing Spencer Dinwiddie can be done rather easily (Sorry, Spencer) with more Tim Hardaway Jr and Josh Green minutes. The big loss comes with replacing Dorian Finney Smith on the defensive end. With Smith on the floor, the Mavericks defensive rating is 114.7 which is average in the NBA. Without Smith on the floor it drops to 120.8 which is a cause for concern moving forward with Kyrie Irving in the lineup.

While the questions surrounding the deal for Kyrie Irving are almost all centered around the defensive end, one thing we do not have to question is the offensive side of the ball. The Mavericks rank 8^th in offensive efficiency and adding Kyrie to the lineup will only enhance that rating. The Mavericks rank 1^st in three point rate, attempting almost half (48.8%) of their overall shots from behind the arc. Kyrie will flourish in this offense with his effectiveness from three.

Kyrie is attempting the most threes in his career this season and is hitting at a 37% clip. Defenses not being able to key in on Luka is only going to help this backcourt. It also helps that Jason Kidd can get away with resting Luka a little more while not having to worry where the offense will come from. The Mavericks offensive rating drops from 117.6 to 110.6 this season without Luka on the floor. With Kyrie in the mix, that should not be the case moving forward.

Currently the Mavericks are two games above .500 and are the 6^th seed in the West. They are 2.5 games back from being the three seed but 2 games away from being the 12^th seed. Luka is currently dealing with a heel contusion and will likely be out a few games. So we will have to wait to watch the new duo on the floor together. The big question that needs to be asked in order to fully grade this trade is will Kyrie resign in the summer.

Without knowing that, we cannot fully say if this was a good move by the Dallas Mavericks. Does it help them for the time being? Yes. Did they become favorites to win the West and the NBA title? No. They still need some interior help and defenders in the backcourt. They rank 30^th in rebounding and points in the paint, which getting Kyrie does not help at all. It will be interesting to see what transpires out of this deal on and off the floor. Chicago Bulls are on the way to the top this 2023

The Chicago Bulls are always one of the most polarizing teams in the NBA. It makes sense. At one time, this was a team that was perennially competing for an NBA Championship. However, those days with Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen are long gone, just to name a few of their elite assets from yesteryear. This is a team that needs a jolt in the right direction fast. Here’s why.

Bulls’ Playoff History Since Their Last NBA Championship (1998)

Since Chicago’s last NBA title back in 1998, which was also the last time they won the Eastern Conference Championship, the Bulls have only won their division twice, which were back in 2011 and 2012.

To make matters worse, the Bulls have only qualified for the postseason 12 times in the past 25 seasons. In those 12 appearances, the Bulls have only won five playoff series. And in the past 10 seasons, the Bulls have only appeared in the postseason four times with one series victory, occurring back in 2015.

Entering the current 2022-2023 season, the Bulls have only made the playoffs one time. The good thing is that it happened last season, showing that they have some talent that can get this team to the next level.

Can The Bulls Turn It Around In 2023?

The Bulls are currently in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. To qualify for the playoffs this season, they would need to be inside the top eight. The Bulls are currently 1.5 games back from the eighth seed with a long season to go.

The Bulls have played in 47 games, just over the halfway point of their long 82-game campaign. And with the NBA trade deadline and All-Star Weekend rapidly approaching, the Bulls have the decision to make.

The Bulls can either blow it up and once again try to rebuild a contending roster, or they can make some moves to acquire players to help them win now.

Chicago is a team with talent. The question is if they have a No. 1 star to ride into glory. The team is centered around four primary players. These players are Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic.

DeRozan would be considered the stud followed by LaVine, but both can play inconsistent basketball. Vucevic is an aging big but still brings a lot to the table while Ball has a lot of promise but has yet to take the necessary leap into stardom. For Ball, his health is his greatest downfall.

If the Bulls were to make a move to win now, they have young talent that rebuilding teams would want, including Coby White, Patrick Williams, Ayo Dosunmu, and Dalen Terry. The biggest issue is that this year’s NBA trade market is dull.

The best players on the market could be Julius Randle and Gordon Hayward. Are they good enough to get the Bulls over the hump? Likely not. The Bulls would have to make a splash and bring in a higher caliber player, and there aren’t many that teams would be willing to part ways with.

What Is Next For the Chicago Bulls in 2023?

The Bulls were a playoff team last season, which means this roster is not too far off. The primary issue is the absence of Lonzo Ball. Ball is expected to miss the entire 2022-2023 season due to left knee surgery. However, one could make the case that if Ball was available to play, the Bulls would be in the conversation to win the Eastern Conference rather than being on the outside looking in. This roster with Ball has that much pop.

Although it is a long shot, the Bulls are only 1.5 games back from the eighth seed with a lot of regular season games left to play, which means they are still in the running for the playoffs. Zach LaVine trade rumors: 3 possible destinations

After a wild come-from-behind victory against Milwaukee Bucks, marking their 4th win in the last 5 games, the Chicago Bulls have seemed to turn it around as of late. Even with the nice little run they’ve been on, they still sit 10th in the Eastern Conference standings with a measly 15-19 win-loss record. In order to avoid the potential of blowing this entire team up, the Bulls need to make up ground in the East and do it rather quickly. One topic that has been a hot one this past few weeks has been the drama surrounding star guard, Zach LaVine.

LaVine has been solid this season when he’s been available, averaging 22.2 points per game to go along with 4.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds per. However, his individual play hasn’t been the issue, it’s been the ongoing trouble he’s had when DeMar DeRozan is on the floor with him. It was reported earlier this week that the two have been experiencing a “disconnect” that has led to trade rumors arising. If you can’t be effective while playing with the team’s best player, you have a major problem.

If the Bulls continue to lose games and fall in the standings, moves will certainly be made in early 2023. Below are some potential packages that could interest Chicago if they decide to move on from the two-time All-Star Zach LaVine. Keep in mind he can’t be traded until January 15th due to the Bird Rights rule.

Zach LaVine heads to Dallas, pairing up with Luka Doncic

Mavericks get: Zach LaVine

Bulls get: Spencer Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans, 2024 First Round Pick, 2026 First Round Pick

The Mavs have shown interest in Zach LaVine in the past, as Mark Cuban is a huge fan of his. He never shy’s away from any move that could possibly help his squad, and with Luka’s recent dominance, it’s obvious he needs some help. LaVine is a ball dominant player, so it would be interesting dynamic considering he’d have to play off-ball more in order to fit in their system.

Now from Chicago’s perspective, it may seem like a fleece for Dallas. Giving up a few role players for an All-Star talent looks lopsided, but it could benefit them in the long run. Dinwiddie is a good playmaker who can fill in Lonzo Ball’s spot perfectly during his absence, and Bertans provides a shooting threat off the bench. The two first-round picks would be the big addition, but it’s also recommended to send someone of LaVine’s talent out of the conference.

Bulls get: Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose, Evan Fournier and a 2023 First Round Pick

The New York Knicks have been rumored to be really interested in Zach LaVine. This trade immediately makes the Knicks a favorite to go deep into the Eastern Conference playoffs. After striking out on Donovan Mitchell earlier this year, going out and grabbing LaVine to pair with Jalen Brunson would be a great move. The starting five would be one of the best in the NBA, and it would also force LaVine to become a better defender due to their system. No brainer for New York.

In addition to the first rounder, the Bulls would get back Cam Reddish, a guy who hasn’t truly had a great opportunity in the league yet. At just 23 years old he has a ton of upside, he’s a good scorer with defensive potential and would absolutely get minuets for Chicago. He’s only appeared in 35 games in the last two years for the Knicks, as he seems to be in coach Tom Thibodeau’s doghouse.

Bringing Derrick Rose back home would be awesome for the fanbase and the team. Maybe it could light a spark for this organization that is in desperate need for one. Evan Fournier is purely a contract piece to make this trade work, but he’s also solid role player that can provide scoring and decent defense.

Zach LaVine heads to the Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers get: Zach LaVine, Marko Simonovic

Bulls get: Russell Westbrook, 2025 First Round Pick, 2027 First Round Pick

When the Bulls signed Zach LaVine to a massive, 215.2 million dollar contract this off-season, I don’t think anyone envisioned him being flipped later in the year. Especially not for someone like Russell Westbrook.

However, this may be the best option. They’d be off the books from the contract, and Westbrook’s deal is expiring so they’d have plenty of money to spend in the summer. In addition, Chicago gains two first rounders that could eventually be high picks as we don’t really know what the future holds for LA. LeBron James is getting older, Anthony Davis is injury prone, and they don’t have much else going on outside of those two. I know he’s not the most efficient player anymore, but Russell Westbrook on the Bulls would be pretty fun to watch. (At least for a few months)

There’s obviously much hope internally for the Chicago Bulls that this whole situation is avoided. They keep Zach LaVine, make a run in the playoffs, and all is well. But this fanbase needs to be ready for the unexpected because I have a feeling they will not hesitate if the price is right. Especially where they’ve struggled so much in the first few months of the 2022-23 season.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Milwaukee Bucks as betting underdogs on Wednesday night at the United Center.

The Chicago Bulls battle with their rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, two nights after admittedly “taking the Houston Rockets for granted.” The Bulls stand a bit better as we currently look at the standings after a nice three-game win streak over three Eastern Conference opponents, but with some of the big names in the East looming on the schedule, dropping a game to the Rockets was unacceptable.

A bounce back tonight would alleviate some of the ugliness of that loss, but as we know, taking down Milwaukee is no small task. The Chicago Bulls currently sit as a five-point underdog at the time of writing, and while that respect to the Bulls does give me some confidence, the Bucks are on a 3-game skid of their own, losing to Cleveland, Brooklyn and Boston. They are certainly going to be hungry to snap that streak and push the Bulls further down the standings.

After some time off for the holiday season, I am back and ready to get this thing into the green as previously promised. Our last pick before my break saw our nasty streak end, and tonight, I’ve got a Bulls autoplay that I have committed to playing each and every time the situation arises. 2022 Bulls Best Bet Record: 10-15 (1W – Ended 6L Streak)

I mentioned in the intro that this has become an autoplay for me. Meaning, that whenever the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks meet, I will take Vucevic to hit a couple of threes each and every time, and while it certainly isn’t a lock, I fully expect this bet to hit at least three out of the four meetings between these two teams, making it a profitable bet across a full season.

Before I continue, I should note that it is imperative if you are able, to do some price shopping. I saw one popular sportsbook list this at (-150) odds, while another had it at (-130). I typically don’t like to bet a player prop in the area of (-150) and would strongly advise you find a better price, but even at that number, I think this is still a good bet to make.

The reason for this elevating to an autoplay for me in short, is because Vucevic, a player that averages about 4.5 three point attempts per game as a member of the Bulls, and averaging exactly 4.6 per game this season, sees his attempt average skyrocket when playing Milwaukee. Across 11 games with Chicago, including playoffs, Vucevic averages 7.5 three point attempts per game. In over half of those games he has attempted at least eight three point shots.

The Bucks have made a choice to keep Vucevic out of the lane, and have dared him to hit shots. Of course, Vucevic could have a rough shooting night, but as mentioned the reason this has become an autoplay is because of the volume of attempts that he sees in this matchup.

I strongly suggest you get some action on Vooch and consider taking a sprinkle on him to go over 2.5 as well at some nice plus-money odds.
