The Chicago Cubs kicked off the 10-year anniversary of the 2016 World Series team with a special celebration ahead of Cubs Con two weeks ago. Members of that team were in town for a kickoff party and some even showed up to Cubs Con for events.
But of the noticeable absences was former MVP Kris Bryant who is a member of the Colorado Rockies.
Bryant was not in attendance for the celebration and an early report suggested that the Rockies didn’t allow him to go. However, over 10 days since the event, we are starting to get more information as to why he wasn’t there. And it wasn’t the Rockies fault.
Why wasn’t Kris Bryant at Cubs Convention in 2026?

The Rockies came out and denied the report that they didn’t allow Bryant to go. The initial report caught so much attention that the team needed to make a statement. But now, Matt Spiegel is reporting the real reason why and it’s pretty heartbreaking.
Per Spiegel, Kris Bryant didn’t attend the 2016 Cubs’ reunion to celebrate their World Series title because Bryant thought it would be a “bad look” for him to attend considering he hasn’t played much for the Rockies due to injuries.
You can see the report in the clip below:

Since signing a seven-year deal worth $182 million in March of 2022, Bryan has been a huge disappointment for the Rockies. He’s struggled to stay healthy, averaging just 42 games per season. There are now doubts that he can even play in the field due to some back issues, making it a sad situation for the former Cubs star.
Bryant wasn’t able to attend the Rockies fan fest either last week. There will be more celebrations for this 2016 team throughout the season, and hopefully Bryant is able to be recognized
