Chicago Bears can trade for pass-rusher during 2026 offseason, per SI

The Chicago Bears are looking to make improvements to a team they believe has the pieces to win a Super Bowl. While having players in key positions locked in, there are some areas of concern that need to be addressed. Whether it is by trading or in the NFL Draft, getting a pass-rusher is one of the biggest remaining needs. One outlet believes there is a trade Chicago can do in order to cross that off their list. Let’s take a look at who it is and why they believe this is something that can still happen.

Sports Illustrated suggests the Bears can trade for Kayvon Thibodeaux

Sports Illustrated’s Mike Kadlick wrote an article discussing six potential trades during the offseason. The Bears were mentioned as they could trade with the New York Giants for edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. Below is what Kadlick wrote about this:

“Kayvon Thibodeaux is a part of a crowded edge rusher group in New York, fighting for snaps alongside fellow first-round picks Abdul Carter and Brian Burns—and while general manager Joe Schoen told reporters at the NFL combine that he expects “big things” from the 25-year-old in 2026, a trade shouldn’t be off the table.

While a specific proposal is not mentioned, this would be an interesting deal. Chicago can trade a draft pick or even include a player to make the cap hit not as much of a factor. Thibodeaux has been good for the Giants as he has 152 total tackles (86 solo, 66 assisted) with 23.5 sacks, 13 pass deflections, six forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. It will be intriguing to see if general manager Ryan Poles can work a deal to get the outside linebacker on the roster for 2026.
