The 2025-26 NBA regular season is wrapping up in a few weeks and as expected, the Oklahoma City Thunder are again the favorites to win it all this year. If they do make a run, it will be on the back of MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The star guard is averaging 31.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game this season. He’s the front runner for the MVP award once again this year and has emerged as one of the best players in the league. But one NBA writer is taking it to a high level in terms of praise for the reining MVP and he is comparing him to the all-time GOAT.

Zach Lowe has Michael Jordan comparison for SGA

During a recent segment on “The Zach Lowe Show”, NBA writer Zach Lowe praised SGA and his ability to dominate games. He noted just how consistent he is in terms of the level of efficiency. Lowe made the case as to why SGA is his MVP.

From there, he brought up Jordan.

“I think Shai is the MVP. I don’t even care if the Spurs pass the Thunder,” Lowe said. ” … I think Shai, first of all—again, boring—he’s played 400 more minutes than Wembanyama. That’s a lot of minutes, and he’s doing that without playing fourth quarters in like 20 games because they’re ahead by so many. They both elevate their teams—Wembanyama’s on-off is from neutral to incredible, Shai’s on-off is from pretty good to incredible. The incredible part matters more to me than where the off-court number is. It’s like, are you elevating your team to, ‘Holy sh**, this is a machine’? That’s Shai.

“Clutch numbers are outrageous, and this is Jordan, but in the modern era. That’s how good he is offensively, and I just think you put all that together, he’s the MVP for me.”

There’s no doubt SGA is playing at a high level again this year. He’s aiming to be the first player to win MVP in consecutive seasons since Nikola Jokic in 2021 and 2022.

But Lowe’s words didn’t sit well with everyone.

It’s tough to compare eras because they are so different. But it’s certainly a big compliment for SGA to be compared to the GOAT.

It’s been over 20 years since Michael Jordan retired from the game of basketball in 1993. But since then, he’s found other ways to stay busy including his successful NASCAR team in 23XI Racing.

He’s also raking in the money still.

Jordan made an estimated $250 million in 2025 just off of the Nike brand alone, which his Jordan Brand is under. That’s merchandise including shoes, clothes and more. With the $250 million, it helped Jordan keep his spot as the highest-paid athlete of all time per Sportico.

When Sportico released its list of the highest-paid athletes of all-time, it wasn’t shocking to see Jordan at the top. But it was a little surprising to see how much he’s actually made. The site estimates that Jordan has made $4.5 billion when adjusted for inflation. Without the adjustment, he’s made $3.28 billion.

He’s atop the list beating out Tiger Woods, Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James and Lionel Messi who round out the top five.

Jordan has been the leader on this list for quite some time now. But this year, he extended that lead over Woods from $850 million to $1.31 billion over the last year. This also comes as Jordan Brand revenue dropped by 16 percent in fiscal 2025. But even so, the brand generated $7.3 billion over that same time period.

Jordan has a 3.4 percent cut in that and the brand generated 70 times more sales volume compared to other signature basketball lines.

NBA players dominated the list with a total of 13 athletes in the top 50. The rankings  do account for far more than just salaries as endorsements, media ventures, appearance fees and licensing deals are among the things factored in.

Following a historic career in the NBA, Michael Jordan has found ways to stay busy off the court. His latest venture has brought him more success as he co-owns 23XI Racing team.

With driver Tyler Reddick winning four races early this NASCAR season, the spotlight is on 23XI Racing as well as Jordan himself. Ahead of Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at the Martinsville Speedway, Jordan sat down with CBS Morning News’ Gayle King to discuss his role with NASCAR.

Among the subjects they talked about was the GOAT conversation. King asked Jordan if he believes there is room for more than one Greatest of All Time in the sport of basketball. His answer was a little surprising.

Michael Jordan addresses the ‘GOAT’ debate in recent interview

As King asked the question, she mentions that Jordan is considered the GOAT in the game of basketball. But would Jordan be open to adding another GOAT in the conversation?

To Jordan, he doesn’t believe in the “GOAT” talk:

“There’s no such thing as the G.O.A.T. Not to me,” Jordan said in the interview. “It’s only because we are transcended from other people, other athletes. We learn from other athletes. We progress the game as we move further. To say that one is better than the other is not really right.”

Of course, the GOAT talk usually centers around Jordan as well as LeBron James. Neither really talk about it at all and it’s usually just the topic of fans, TV shows, radio shows, etc. However, with how competitive Jordan is not only in basketball and in NASCAR, I imagine he sometimes uses it for motivation still and that burning desire of competition he’s always had.

If you didn’t notice by now, it’s clear that Michael Jordan is competitive. He’s competitive with a lot of things too. Now, that’s spilling over into his love for racing as he co-owns 23XI Racing and is making waves on the NASCAR scene.

For Jordan, he took a lot of things personal during his playing career in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls. And you could see that when “The Last Dance” documentary aired back in 2020. It got to the point where he would even make up scenarios to motivate himself and take it out on opponents.

The latest example, however, involves his race team and the NASCAR lawsuit from a few months back.

Michael Jordan says NASCAR lawsuit was ‘personal’ to him

It’s rare to see Jordan do many interviews these days. He did appear on the NBA on NBC for a few segments but that was one interview broken down into multiple airings. But the latest comes on Friday when he sat down with Gayle King on CBS Morning News. Jordan spoke on his NASCAR experience, including the lawsuit.

To no one’s surprise, he admitted that he took that lawsuit personal.

“Yes, 100 percent,” Jordan said when asked if his intention was to change NASCAR. “When I got into the sport, obviously, as I learned there was a lot of things I wasn’t really happy about. The sport was not setup long term for the individuals involved with the sport. Now, up top? Yep. They were making a good living. The people that were putting on the show were not getting the type of recognition or compensated fairly.”

Jordan also said that even if they didn’t win the lawsuit, his goal was to wake up some people. That he did.  Jordan did admit he was nervous when he had to take the stand but knew they had a good case.

And that’s when he went all in.

“I was all in,” Jordan said. “I was aggressively gonna win, you know. I became a competitor all over again.”

Jordan’s killer mentality never left, it just changed sports. What he’s doing for NASCAR is awesome and settling with NASCAR to provide changes was huge for the sport.

Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant achieved another milestone this past week as he climbed up the NBA’s scoring list. Durant passed Michael Jordan for fifth all-time on the NBA scoring list with 32,294 points to Jordan’s 32,292.

The 37-year-old Durant has been efficient throughout his long NBA career which spans across 18 years. He’s been one of the best pure scorers in the league ever since he entered out of Texas. As Durant splashed a three-pointer from the corner to pass Jordan, it showcased his skill set once again. And now, he’s praising Jordan for being an inspiration to his career.

While Durant grew up in the DC area and was a lifelong Bullets/Wizards fan, he appreciated the 90’s era of basketball. He went back to a playoff series in the first round of the 1997 Eastern Conference Playoffs where he saw Jordan live for the first time:

“I want to say late ’90s, but I can remember watching a playoff game versus the Bullets, so it had to be like ’96-’97, cause we were still the Bullets. That was like my first live game watching MJ. Of course, I’ve seen highlights on TV and stuff, but just sitting there watching him play. I mean, that’s all you watched. It was like a solo cam was on him. His presence is, and then the stories around him, from everybody else, the basketball world in general just made everything he did bigger than life,” Durant reflected in an exclusive interview with the Boardroom.

Durant has previously praised Jordan before, telling The Athletic that MJ has always been his inspiration. So to pass one of his idols on the scoring list, it had to be a special moment for him.

Since Durant went No. 2 overall to the Seattle Supersonics in the 2007 NBA Draft, he’s averaged least 25 points per game in 17 of his 18 NBA seasons. His longevity is impressive as is but at in the scoring and he’s en-route to a no-doubt Hall of Fame selection one day.

The biggest story of the NASCAR season so far has been 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick. After winning the first three races of the year including his first Daytona 500, Reddick hit a bit of a ‘slump’ recently. But on Sunday, he found himself in the winner’s circle again.

Reddick took the checkered flag at the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, winning his fourth race of the season. He did so while needing a new battery and also not having his cool suit work all day. So you could say that Reddick had to overcome some important factors.

But even so, it’s another win for 23XI Racing and team owner Michael Jordan as was excited once again following the win.

In all four wins for Reddick this season, there’s been a common theme: Michael Jordan has been in attendance. The co-owner of 23XI Racing has been a success story in NASCAR this season, earning a win in this lawsuit and then four checkered flags.

Following this win, Jordan was once again fired up for Reddick.

“I’m pretty sure it was frustrating for him because he had an unbelievable car. And, you know, you never know what’s gonna happen, especially at Darlington,” Jordan said in a post-race interview. “And I think that, you know, the key to him winning was, you know, just keeping his head. You know, I think Billy did a good job of trying to keep him calm. . . So we just had to get the car right. And, you know, he kept his composure, and I think he did an unbelievable job.”

Jordan showed his emotion after the race, running down to celebrate once again with Reddick and the team.

Reddick sits atop the Cup Series standings comfortably with his fourth win of the year. He’s 61 points ahead of his teammate and second-placed Bubba Wallace.

Michael Jordan found a lot of success on the basketball court, being considered the greatest to ever play the game. But in life after basketball, Jordan is now finding success in another sport.

Jordan is a co-owner of the 23XI Racing team along with Denny Hamlin and to start the 2026 NASCAR season, one of his drivers, Tyler Reddick won three-of-four races. Reddick won the first three races of the season before finishing eighth in Phoenix on Sunday. Overall, it was a good day for 23XI who also had Bubba Wallace placing sixth.

But before the race began, one driver made sure to note how much Jordan is impacting NASCAR.

Brad Keselowski approves of Michael Jordan in NASCAR

Ahead of the season, Jordan and 23XI settled on an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR in December 2025. That was a win for 23XI Racing as Jordan was a prominent figure in the hearings.

Now, drivers are starting to notice the impact Jordan is having on the sport. Here is what Brad Keselowski had to say when asked about that ahead of the race in Phoenix.

“Yeah, I mean it’s hard to argue against Michael having a positive influence on the sport,” Keselowski said. “I love the fact that he’s so engaged and at the races. I just can’t emphasize enough how important that is, not just Michael, but for any of the key stakeholders to just have physical presence at the racetrack. That’s for all levels.

“So for him to have physical presence, a testament for his fortitude for being a part of the sport. Because, lets face it, although he’s won the first three races, he’s lost a lot more. As every car owner will, it’s not a dig on him. If I’m a guy like him, personally, and I say ‘Where do I want to be today?’ And I know that I have less than a 10 percent chance of winning, flying my butt all across the country when I have all the things that Michael has, it probably something that takes me a minute to emotionally justify. But he does. I’ll give him a lot of respect and credit for that.”

Jordan has been to all four races this season and with the success that his team is having, we can expect more races for Jordan to attend this season.

It’s also awesome to see drivers notice that and respect that with Jordan.

Tyler Reddick and 23XI Racing are riding high after winning the first three races of the NASCAR Cup Series season. Reddick became the first driver in NASCAR’s history to win the first three races of a season, including the Daytona 500 — 23XI Racing became the first team to win the first three races since Petty Enterprises in 1963.

More News: NASCAR: Tyler Reddick and 23XI Racing make history in Austin

Winning the DuraMax Texas Grand Prix didn’t come easy, as the No. 97 car of Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen gave Reddick a run for his money, Reddick, used the pressure from Gisbergen to his advantage to help him win the race.

“I think for me in the heat of the battle, it’s like, ‘alright, I’ve got to find a way to hold off Shane,’ ” Reddick said to Cameron Richardson of NASCAR.com. “As I started to pull away, certainly, it’s like, ‘alright, there’s a lot on the line here.’ Hit your marks. Don’t be a hero. You don’t have to win by eight seconds. So important to just not make mistakes. Shane could have been playing games, right? Like back off a bit, see if I burn my stuff up, and I back up to him at the end of the race. I just didn’t let myself think it was over until it was truly over. So certainly used the pressure of what’s on the line to motivate myself to hit my marks and close it out.”

Reddick has a commanding lead in the standings, totaling 186 points, and has led 112 laps. Reddick’s teammate, Bubba Wallace (23 car), sits in a distant second with 116 points and led 86 laps with two top 10 finishes.

Reddick’s boss and competitor on the track for Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 11 car, Denny Hamlin, has been impressed with Reddick’s talents, calling him “complete.” However, Hamlin says that he and Reddick are still working with him on short tracks.

“He’s complete,” Hamlin said to Richardson. “I mean, the one area that we continue to work on with him is the short tracks. I think that’s where he can still improve a little bit, but we’re working pretty hard on improving him at those types of tracks. But he’s complete and certainly more complete than I am at this stage. He’s got really good things going on. I think we’re steadily seeing him continue to get better. What I love to see is that the work he puts in and things that we provide him for information, he’s soaking it all in and he’s using it and executing it. What I’ve seen out of him over the last few years, where he had some weaknesses, our team has helped him shore those up, and it’s amazing to see how well he’s doing.”

On short tracks (under a mile) like Martinsville Speedway, Reddick finished in 15th place last season and finished in 18th place at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Tyler Reddick and 23XI Racing seem to be legit competitors to win it all

Michael Jordan, Daytona 500

After winning their lawsuit against NASCAR in the offseason, 23XI Racing is a viable competitor to teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, and Team Penske. No. 9 Chase Elliott (Hendrick, 114 points) and No. 12 Ryan Blaney (Penske, 100 points) are the only drivers over 100 points from the major teams, but have a ton of ground to make up to catch Reddick.

Reddick will try to replicate his victory in Austin and try to win four in a row in Phoenix for the Straight Talk Wireless 500 on March 8 at Phoenix Raceway.

The 23XI Racing team made history on Sunday. For the first time in NASCAR history, a racer won the first three races of a season as Tyler Reddick took the checkered flag on Sunday at the DuraMAX Texas Grand Prix near Austin.

It was the third-straight win for Reddick, opening up the season on a hot note. Reddick is one a handful of 23XI Racing drivers competing this year as the team is owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. As the race ended and they headed to the winner’s circle, Jordan was interviewed and offered his thoughts on the start to the race season for his team.

And he’s proud of what they have accomplished.

Jordan was interviewed after the race by FOX reporter Kaitlyn Vincie, who asked the GOAT about winning three-straight races.

“I’m proud of the team that we put together. Denny [Hamlin] I’m pretty sure is the same way, he feels the same way as I do,” Jordan said. “I think a lot of credit goes to him because he’s the mastermind behind finding Tyler [Reddick]. . . Look, I just put up the money. I’m just a competitor. I think Denny has done an unbelievable job in helping me build this team. I think the team has done a good job in just taking our leadership and going out and winning. That’s what it’s about. Winning.”

23XI has done a lot of winning over these past three weeks which has brought a smile to Jordan’s face. It’s cool to see Jordan be so open and excited about this sport, something he has a passion for. That’s not only good for the sport but for the fans of it as well.

His team is now delivering in a big way too.

Michael Jordan is used to winning. He won a national championship while at North Carolina, won six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and even has won Olympic gold medals. But Sunday was a first for the legendary basketball star.

With Tyler Reddick crossing the finish line, he delivered himself, Jordan and 23XI Racing a Daytona 500 win. The first for all of 23XI Racing.

Reddick’s win was the first major race win for Jordan as the two and the team celebrated after the race. Jordan’s celebration not only caught the fans’ attention but NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell as well.

Steve O’Donnell says Michael Jordan winning was a ‘cool’ moment

Jordan was sitting in the 23XI box in pit lane, watching the final laps. While Bubba Wallace led for most of the third stage, it was Reddick that emerged victorious thanks to some crashes on the final lap. But as Jordan celebrated, O’Donnell noticed it.

O’Donnell told The Athletic he spotted Jordan, with both his hands in the air, shouting, “Yes! Yes! Yes! This is the greatest. The greatest.” Jordan then offered only warmth, no jabs.

“I’ve never seen a guy that enthusiastic — I mean, other than winning an NBA championship,” O’Donnell said. “He gave us both hugs. It was a really cool moment. It’s pretty awesome.”

It was another iconic moment for Jordan and it came months after his team and NASCAR settled in court. Jordan continues to stack up the wins now in Motorsports and Sunday’s was the biggest he’s had so far, months after his previous biggest win.

The NASCAR season is back with the Daytona 500 to kick off the season, bringing with it a ton of excitement.

More News: Tyler Reddick delivers Michael Jordan his first Daytona 500 victory

The Daytona 500 was chaotic to say the least, with multiple wrecks, including one that ended up deciding the race and brought Michael Jordan and his driver, Tyler Reddick (45 car), of the 23XI Team the victory. Jordan, who sued and won against NASCAR in the offseason, had four drivers competing in Sunday’s race: Bubba Wallace (23 car, finished 10th), Reddick, Riley Herbst (35 car, finished eighth), and Corey Heim, who serves as the team’s development driver (67 car, finished 28th).

Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls, won his first Daytona 500 as an owner of a team, saying, “It felt like he won a championship.”

“I can’t even believe it was so gratifying. I mean, we had four guys that were really fighting, that was helping each other out. I mean, you never know how these races gonna end, right?” Jordan said to FOX Sports after the race. “It’s like you just try to survive. And I thought Riley did an unbelievable job by pushing at the end. That shows you what teamwork can really, really do. I mean, he doesn’t get enough credit, he won’t get enough credit, but we feel the love. We understand exactly what he did. And I mean, we just hung in there all day. I mean, we great strategy by the team, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end. And look, I’m ecstatic. I mean, I don’t even know what to say. It feels like I won a championship, but until I get my ring, I won’t even know.”

NASCAR could be in for Michael Jordan and 23XI making noise this season

With three proven race winners on his team, Jordan and the 23XI Team seem like they could be making noise this season. 23XI will compete in NASCAR’s next race, the Autotrader 400 on Feb. 22.

With his win, Reddick takes a commanding lead in the standings, collecting 58 Cup Series points, while Joey Logano (22 car) sits in second place with 46 points. Wallace and Herbst are also helping keep the 23XI Team at the top of the field, with Wallace in eighth (37 points) and Herbst (35 points) just behind Lagono’s teammate Ryan Blaney (12 car, 36 points).

Before Sunday’s Daytona 500 race, Michael Jordan talked about how important the race is to him. He mentioned watching it with his family growing up and how special that occasion was.

Hours later, Jordan was on victory lane and it’s an early birthday present for the GOAT who turns 63 on Tuesday.

In a crash filled final lap, 23XI’s Tyler Reddick emerged from the pack and took home the checkered flag for his first Daytona 500 win. Reddick didn’t lead a single lap in the race until the final one, which is all that matters.

Tyler Reddick’s crazy final lap

Reddick got some help from 23XI teammate Riley Herbst who was driving really well on that final lap. Then, there were a few wrecks leading to Reddick crossing the finish line with crashes behind him.

Herbst finished eighth in the race while 23XI’s Bubba Wallace ended 10th after winning stage two and leading for most of the final stage until he had to pit.

The Daytona 500 win is the first for Reddick, Jordan and 23XI Racing as they are off to a good start for new season.

The Super Bowl of racing is taking place on Sunday as the Daytona 500 is underway in Florida. For Michael Jordan, his 23XI Racing team has four drivers in the field for the race as he’s seeking his first ever win at Daytona.

But before the race started, Jordan caught up with FOX Sports reporter Jamie Little and he had some interesting things to say.

Jordan did talk about how important the Daytona 500 race is to him. He mentioned watching it with his family as a kid, sitting around the TV each year for the race. However, it was what he said about the lawsuit he was apart of with 23XI and NASCAR.

After 15 long months, 23XI Racing settled a major lawsuit against NASCAR ahead of this new season. It was a lengthy process but in the end, Jordan and his team essentially got what they had hoped for.

Now, he’s talking about the result for the first time.

“Communication — the thing is, both sides have been somewhat at a stalemate and we both needed to have conversations about change, how we can grow this sport,” Jordan said. “Unfortunately, we had to go through what we had to go through last summer. But I think coming out of that, you have a much better appreciation for each other and I think it opens up conversations amongst each other to continue to grow the game.

“Don’t forget about the fans. The fans make this game so much enjoyable to watch. As much as we can listen, change, please the fans, please the teams and continue to grow the sport, I think everybody’s going to be OK.”

The settlement between the two side awarded 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports charters after both relinquished their charters when they didn’t sign the 2025-31 agreement to pursue the lawsuit. It also included an amendment with an agreement for all teams to have a form of “evergreen charters.”

It will now allow teams to receive revenue from the NASCAR international media rights deal.

The NASCAR season officially gets underway on Sunday with one of the biggest races of the year — the Daytona 500. The annual race kicks off the season as it brings out some of the best fans in racing to Daytona.

For 23XI Racing, they are hoping this is finally the year they can win the Cup Series title this year whether it be Tyler Reddick or Bubba Wallace. But as the two drivers prepare for Sunday’s big race, one of them revealed a message that team owner Michael Jordan passed on.

Ahead of Sunday’s race, Wallace actually saw Jordan on the golf course, most likely Grove XXIII the personal course for Jordan in Florida. The two hung out and during media day at the Daytona 500, Wallace shared the message that Jordan gave him.

“I actually seen him yesterday on the golf course,” Wallace said, via Rich Jones of Daily Express U.S. “We had a good leadership meeting a couple of weeks ago. He’s fired up, it’s a new season, it’s a clean slate, and we’re ready to go get it.”

Jordan has made an impact in racing with owning 23XII Racing. But he’s yet to win a title in the sport, something he would love to add to his resume. Wallace added just how much Jordan loves the sport as well.

“Yeah, we’ve both been fans of the sport, he’s been a lot longer fan than I have, but we understand what it takes to be successful and to win at this level is super hard, but when you have the right people surrounding you, then sky’s the limit,” Wallace continued. “So, put it all together.”

A win at Daytona for Wallace or Reddick would be awesome and would help the 23XI legacy even more.

Stories of Michael Jordan from his playing days in the 90’s  with the Chicago Bulls never get old. It feels like every now and then we get a new untold story about Jordan from a teammate, coach, or opponent. The latest one involves an opponent who had a calling to Jesus moment.

Former Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson had his fair share of battles against Jordan in his career. Most notably in the 1993 NBA Finals when the Bulls and Suns matched up. Chicago was seeking their third-straight title and eventually got the first of two three-peats for the franchise led by the core of Jordan, Scottie Pippen and head coach Phil Jackson.

Recently, Johnson appeared on the Club 520 podcast and was asked about that 1993 Suns team that featured MVP Charles Barkley. The Suns went down 0-2 and Johnson was called upon to guard Jordan.

From there, he went straight to Jesus.

While on the flight to Chicago, Johnson found out he was guarding Jordan in Game 3 from coach Paul Westphal.

“So, we are flying from Phoenix to Chicago. I fall asleep on the plane and then the head coach wakes me up, right? And he says, ‘Hey, I just want to let you know, man, Game 3 is going to be your game.’ So cool. You know, I believe that. I’m going to have to bounce back,” Johnson recalled on the Club 520 podcast.

“Man, I had this dream that you came and woke me up and told me, ‘You got Michael Jordan,’” he told his coach.

“You are,” Westphal replied.

After finding out he had to guard Jordan in Game 3, Johnson found the nearest church in Chicago. From there, all he could do is pray.

“I walk straight in that church. And I sat in front row. ‘Jesus, I don’t believe in you no more. There’s no way if you loved me and died on a cross and did all the things, you’d be having me guarding Michael Jordan,’” he said, laughing.

Kevin Johnson found success, sort of

Suns guard Dan Majerle defends Bulls guard Michael Jordan during Game 1 of the NBA Finals in 1993 in Phoenix.

The Suns did win Game 3 before Chicago took Game 4 in the Windy City. Phoenix was able to get Game 5 to go back out West before the Bulls closed out the series for good. Jordan finished with 44, 55 and 41 in Games 3-5, putting on an impressive showing.

But as Johnson noted, he had some success.

“He averaged 44 against Majerle. They like, ‘What’d he average against you?’” he said, pausing with a smile. “42. But I kept him under his average.”

The respect between the two is awesome and it’s clear that they enjoyed their battles together.

Michael Jordan’s contributions to the NBA on NBC this season have been interviews at halftime of select broadcasts this season. We already know how Charles Barkley feels about this mini interviews that were filmed in one sit down session, but for some they can be informative.

It is cool to hear Jordan speak on the game as it is today as well as stories from his playing time. But on Sunday, during halftime of the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks game, he dove into Madison Square Garden and why he loved playing at the Mecca of basketball.

And Jordan wanted to put on a show in the arena every time he played there.

“I’ve always considered Madison Square Garden a mecca of basketball, right? You know, the knowledge of basketball, the way that people perceive basketball. And they’re hard workers, and the New York Knicks teams always seem to play hard for their fan base. And the fans knew it, too. If they didn’t, the fans let them know that, right?” Jordan said in the latest installment of “Insights to Excellence.”

But there’s more…

Michael Jordan was motivated to play at MSG

Madison Square Garden is historic, opening in 1968 and being the league’s oldest venue. It still has the old school feel to it and when the stars are playing that night, there’s almost nothing better. That was the case when Jordan was playing the game as he and the Bulls took on rival New York for some memorable matchups.

But for Jordan, he never was bothered by the rowdy fans.

“I go in there with the notion that I know it’s not hostile. It’s more of the awareness that they’re going to cheer for the team, and they’re going to do everything to get you off your game,” he said. “It was never hostile towards me. It was more motivating and trying to get me off my game.”

“And look, once I’m in a game, once the ball goes up, I never even hear the fans. You know, if the fans ever can affect me or I can hear the fans, that means I’m not focused on what I should be doing, which is playing the game of basketball,” he continued. “I get into the game. My opponent becomes more the focal point. The fans are fans.”

Jordan’s mindset is a different one than some players might take, especially in today’s game. But he knew that going into MSG with the rowdy fans, he could use it as motivation.

Jordan dominated when he played in the Garden. He still holds the highest scoring average of any visiting player in the Garden’s history, averaging 31.8 points per game. In his first game at MSG, Jordan scored 33 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 5 assists. He also shot 68 percent from the field, putting together an impressive performance.

The NBA made its return to NBC for the 2025-26 season, providing coverage for the league through analysts and former players. Some of the biggest news was the addition of Chicago Bulls and NBA legend Michael Jordan joining the crew.

At first, it was unknown exactly what Jordan’s role would be. Several former players were added to the network to serve as analysts before, during and after games. But for Jordan, it was just special interview sessions with Mike Tirico which aired during halftime of certain early season games. NBC recorded one interview with Jordan and broke them into special segments.

It was cool to see Jordan offer insight into what the NBA is right now but it felt like there was much more that could have been done. Now, a Hall of Famer and a friend of Jordan is criticizing NBC for how they handled things.

Charles Barkley calls out NBC for Michael Jordan’s role

NBC recorded an interview all in one shot, breaking into separate ones. They were aired early in the season and the thought was that they would be used all season long. For Barkley, he was excited but like the fans was a little disappointed. Here is what Barkley said during an interview on NBA radio on Sirius XM:

“I was excited,” said Barkley. “We need Michael Jordan affiliated with the NBA. But now you see this thing coming out with NBC, and you’re like, “Wait, y’all did one interview like five months ago and ya’ll gonna sprinkle it throughout the season?”

Barkley went on to say that it’s a bad look for NBC.

“Come on, man,” Barkley added.“That’s disingenuous by NBC. Listen, that’s crazy, man. I’m so disappointed with the way that it worked out. Because, you know, I talked to NBC.  NBC has actually offered me a contract. But it’s a bad look for NBC. It’s just a bad look, plain and simple.”

We don’t know exactly what NBC has planned for Jordan the rest of the season, but if they were to do anything it likely would be another interview.

One of the tireless debates in the NBA is who is the greatest of all time between Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

More News: Bulls’ Billy Donovan makes concerning comment about front office

The two players were the best of their respective eras. However, because they didn’t play under the same league rules, it’s hard to compare the two.

There’s no debate that Jordan elevated the sport and made the NBA a global power. Frankly, without Jordan, James wouldn’t be as famous as he is today.

Still, James wants to make the case that he’s the best player of all time.

During a recent appearance on the “Mind the Game” podcast, James didn’t name Jordan, but suggested the era the Bulls’ legend played in wasn’t as difficult as the one James faces in the modern period.

“The game is different,” James said. “I want people and our fans to understand playing 82 games in the 80s and 90s is not the same as playing 82 games in the 2020s. It’s just not. The way we play, the level of pace and the speed we’re playing at, it’s a different game now. It’s a lot of soft tissue injuries that’s happened now because of it…

“When I first came in the league… the biggest concern for injuries was like a high ankle sprain… Now you see the new high ankle sprain is the calf. Hopefully we get a handle on that from a medical standpoint but I just want the fans to understand the game is a little different.”

Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan played in a tougher era

More News: Bulls have framework for Coby White trade with Timberwolves: Report

The speed of the game is different, but the NBA has changed the game in order to make it faster.

Jordan had to drive to the basket in an era that allowed more physicality from the defense. James is well known for crying about fouls.

How would he survive playing against a team that employed the “Jordan Rules” to try and stop him?

James never had to face Isiah Thomas and a Detroit Pistons defense beating him up. He plays in an era that is even more generous to offensive players, allowing them to take extra liberties with ball handling.

Saturday night will be a memorable one at the United Center when the Chicago Bulls host the Boston Celtics. The franchise will hang another jersey number in the rafters, officially retiring the number 1 for Derrick Rose.

The Chicago native and former NBA MVP becomes the fifth Bulls player to have his number retired from the franchise along with banners for Phil Jackson, Jerry Krause and Red Kerr. Rose was drafted by the Bulls in 2008 after just one year at Memphis and starring at Simeon High School. The rest is history as he enjoyed a NBA career up until he retired in 2024.

Now, he’s going to be immortalized in the United Center rafters and ahead of Saturday’s ceremony, a GOAT sent him a special message.

With Rose’s jersey going into the rafters, he’s receiving a lot of messages to congratulate him. But the best one arguably comes from Michael Jordan who recorded a video to say his congrats to Rose.

“Derrick, congratulations on the retirement of your jersey. Very happy for you. You have an unbelievable career,” Jordan says. “You really represented the city of Chicago, the Chicago Bulls, your family, and yourself very, very well. I’m very proud of you, and I’m very happy for your special night. Looking forward to coming to the United Center and seeing your jersey hanging up there with my jersey. Congratulations and enjoy your night.”

Check out the video of Jordan below:

In addition to Jordan, others also sent their congratulations. That included Jordan’s teammate Scottie Pippen who also has his jersey in the rafters of the United Center.

It’s going to be a special night at the United Center for not only Rose but the fans and the entire organization.

It’s been 30 years since the start of the second three-peat for the Chicago Bulls, a season in which the team went 72-10 and capped it off with their fourth NBA title. That was a special season for the franchise, setting the mark for the best record in a single season at that point.

And while the franchise celebrated that team in January of 2024 by putting them in the ring of honor, a few notable names were missing.

Neither Michael Jordan nor Scottie Pippen were in attendance for that ceremony and the two appear to have an ongoing feud that has lasted years. But now, one teammate wants to put an end to that.

Randy Brown calls for Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to end feud

Randy Brown was a reserve guard on that historic Bulls team, so he saw everything that happened that season. Brown is familiar with both Jordan and Pippen and during a recent interview, he spoke on the “feud” the two are having.

In  an exclusive interview with ESportsBets,  Brown told the site that he’s texted both players in hopes of getting them to ‘hug it out’ and be friends again.

“I’m not going to let it go,” Brown said. “I’m hoping it will happen sooner rather than later. Even though everyone’s read in the media about Michael and Scottie’s differences, all that stuff. I hope it can all come to fruition, that we can hug each other one last time. And then from there, we can see where it goes.”

Brown isn’t the only one hoping for an end to the feud. A lot of Bulls fans would love to see Jordan and Pippen together once again.

There are no plans currently for a reunion hosted by the Bulls. But Brown believes there needs to be one for that special season.

“That’s the talk of the town… I understand everyone goes on with their lives,” Brown said. “You’ve got kids, grandkids. A couple of my teammates have kids playing. So you lose focus of that a little bit. But I try to be that team guy. I’m on a text chain with all my guys. I’m never going to let it go. I want all my guys to get together one last time before it’s finally over, because we need to be recognized.”

Time will tell if this team gets back together one more time and if Jordan and Pippen can settle their differences.

After starting the season 5-0, the Chicago Bulls lost their first game of the season on Sunday night in their second meeting with the New York Knicks, 128-116.

More News: Chicago Bulls have their hottest start in close to 30 years

Though the Knicks handed the Bulls their first loss of the season, the Bulls continued to get high-level performances from Matas Buzelis and Nikola Vucevic. Buzelis had 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in 31.0 minutes, while Vucevic had another double-double, 17.0 points and 14.0 rebounds, while dishing out four assists in 32.0 minutes.

However, the real star in the Bulls’ loss was guard Josh Giddey, who finally got his first triple-double of the season (19th of his career) and passed a Bulls great on the all-time leaderboard in the process.

Playing in close to 40 minutes (38.0), Giddey had his third straight game of 20+ points, scoring 23.0 points (10-for-19), 12.0 rebounds, 12.0 assists, and had two steals for his first triple-double of the season. This triple-double moved Giddey past former center Joakim Noah (seven) into third all-time on the franchise leaderboard.

Hall of Famers Scottie Pippen (15 in 856 career games) and Michael Jordan (28 in 930 career games) are the only two ahead of Giddey for triple-doubles. Giddey has a chance to catch Pippen this season, and potentially Michael now that he’s locked in for the next four years after signing his $100 million deal in the offseason.

Josh Giddey says “physicality and rebounding” hurt the Bulls on Sunday

Despite having more points in the paint (54.0) than the Knicks (42.0), the Knicks outrebounded (14.0) the Bulls on the offensive glass (12.0) and won the turnover battle, committing 14 turnovers to the Knicks’ 11. Giddey mentioned this during his postgame interview and added that the Bulls need to “find ways to win when teams do shoot the ball well against them.”

“Yeah, I mean, obviously teams never shoot that bad the whole season,” Giddey said to K.C. Johnson of CHSN. “But I thought, you know, when we played the Knicks the other night, they shot the ball really well, and we beat them at home. So, you know, I think when teams don’t shoot well, it obviously makes makes things easier for you. You can take ball up the net, you can run in transition, you know, playing off of misses. But you know, obviously it was gonna swing. It always balances itself back. Keeps looking to shoot, you know, this 25% the whole year against us. So we got to find ways to win when teams do shoot the ball well. And you know, the next day tonight, we didn’t, we didn’t find a way to win. So as I said, the physicality of rebounding killed us tonight. And you know, it’s another good team in Philly coming in Tuesday. So we got to, you know, address what we need to get ready for that.”

Welcoming in the Philadelphia 76ers, who are also 5-1 and coming off a commanding victory (129-105) against the Brooklyn Nets, Tuesday’s matchup should be a test to prove if the Bulls are legit or not.

The Chicago Bulls have won five straight to open the NBA season, and there looks to be no team that can stop them.

Once again, the usual suspects of Josh Giddey, Nikola Vucevic, and Matas Buzelis did their thing, while others, like guard Kevin Huerter, stepped in place of Coby White, who was out due to a calf injury. Firing on all cylinders, the Bulls have not seen a start like this since the Michael Jordan era, but they can’t get ahead of themselves as it’s still early in the season.

After their commanding victory over the New York Knicks, 135-125, giving them their fifth consecutive win, the Bulls have their first 5-0 start since the 1996-97 season, which was the year they won their second of their three straight NBA Finals. During this stretch, the Bulls have ranked sixth in offense and eighth in defense, while firmly solidifying their grip on the Eastern Conference.

Josh Giddey and Billy Donovan recognize that it’s still early in the season

Despite running on a high to start the season and setting a new career high of 32.0 points, and missing another triple-double, falling one assist short (nine), Giddey recognized after the Bulls victory that “there’s a long way to go.”

“We feel good as a group of where we’re at right now, but there’s a long way to go,” Bulls guard Josh Giddey said to ESPN’s Jamal Collier. “Every night there’s different guys making plays and stepping up. We’ve got a bunch of guys — six, seven guys averaging double figures. That kind of speaks volumes to how deep we are as a team and the impact we’re getting across the board.”

Head coach Billy Donovan, who earned his 200th victory as a coach on Friday night, according to Collier, said that the “good connection” his players have is contributing to their winning, but echoed Giddey’s comments, also saying “we get a lot more ways to go and we can’t lose sight.”

“The mentality that they believe, which I think is very, very powerful, I think when there’s belief it’s really, really powerful,” said Bulls coach Billy Donovan. “There’s good connection. They’ve got good relationships. They all can talk to each other. I think there’s a lot of positive things that they have that really go into winning.”

Facing the Knicks again on Sunday and the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, the Bulls can extend their lead in the East and continue to show their viability as a legitimate top team this season.

Basketball in the 1990’s was ruled by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, capturing six NBA Finals titles with two three-peats in the Windy City.  And it felt like those Bulls’ games were always much-watch TV, because of Jordan.

Jordan has expressed his thoughts on how he wanted to play every night and show up for the people that paid money to see him in the past. But now, he’s taking aim at this era of basketball and the key words “load management.”

It’s no secret that load management in the NBA has become a hot topic these days. Players are sitting out and hoping for rest to gear up for the playoffs, which has drawn a bit of a sour taste for fans. That includes Jordan, who based load management on Tuesday night.

During his weekly segment “MJ: Insights to Excellence” on Tuesday night, they asked Jordan about load management.

He offered up this answer, as expected.

“Well, it shouldn’t be needed, first and foremost,” Jordan said. “You know, I never wanted to miss a game because it was an opportunity to prove. It was something that I felt like the fans are there that watch me play. I want to impress that guy way up on top who probably worked his [butt] off to get a ticket or to get money to buy the ticket.”

He went on to say that it included road games as well, even fans who rooted against him.

“Yeah, because I know he’s probably yelling at me and I want to shut him up,” Jordan said. “You know, he’s calling me all kinds of names. I definitely want to shut him up. … You have a duty that if they’re wanting to see you, and as an entertainer, I want to show. Right?”

Michael Jordan: “That’s your job”

Suns guard Dan Majerle defends Bulls guard Michael Jordan during Game 1 of the NBA Finals in 1993 in Phoenix.

Now, Jordan didn’t play in every single game of his career. But he did play a full 82-game regular season nine times and played in at least 80 games two other times.

He did his part to keep the product entertaining and available to watch. He continued on, saying that’s the jobs of players.

“You play basketball two-and-a-half, three hours a day,” Jordan continued. “That’s your job. That’s what you get paid to do as an NBA player. What are you doing the other 21 hours? To me, that’s when you should be preparing for your next day of work, or your next challenge.”

Let’s now see how the rest of the NBA responds to the GOAT.

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan last stepped on the court for a game back in 2003 before he retired for the third and final time. Since then, Jordan has made public appearances but has kept busy with family, golf and being a co-owner of a NASCAR team.

But when it comes to basketball, Jordan has mainly stayed away besides a few appearances here and there.

Now, Michael Jordan is part of the NBA’s return to NBC as he will have a special segment at halftime of the national game each week. The segment is called “MJ: Insights to Excellence” where he will give his insight into the game of basketball. And during Tuesday’s appearance, Jordan revealed when he last picked up a basketball.

Michael Jordan’s debut and the last time he picked up a basketball

At first, Jordan admitted it’s been a long time since he picked up a basketball and shot it. But as Mike Tirico kept asking, Jordan revealed it actually wasn’t that long ago.

Jordan told Tirico that it was just last month when he rented out a house for the Ryder Cup in New York.

“I was at the Ryder Cup,” Jordan explained. “And I rented a house from the owner. He came over to do pictures. He had grandkids. And I was meet and greet, thanked him for allowing me to stay in the house. And he had a basketball court. He said, ‘I want you to shoot one free throw.’ I said, ‘Really?’”

“So, when I stepped up to shoot the free throw, that’s the most nervous I’ve been in years,” Jordan said. “The reason being is those kids heard the stories from the parents about what I did 30 years ago. So, the expectation is 30 years prior, and I haven’t touched a basketball.”

Tirico then asked if Jordan swished the shot. The response was typical MJ.

“Absolutely,” Jordan said.

With the NBA officially returning to NBC tonight, the network had the perfect intro for the return. They interviewed current stars of the NBA about their memories of the 90’s.

While none of them knew much about it, the cameos from Jordan, Reggie Miller and Patrick Ewing brought back that nostalgia as did the opening theme. Check out the video below:

So far, the return of the NBA on NBC has been a success and we can’t wait for more Michael Jordan segments.

The 2025-26 NBA season is set to tip off next week and when it does, NBC will be a prominent source once again for the league. The NBA on NBC is officially back this year and with that comes the return of Michael Jordan.

The NBA legend is set to be an analyst for the upcoming season, a shocking announcement that had fans excited for what’s to come. But since that announcement, the details have been limited.

Until now.

Sunday Night Football announcer Cris Collinsworth hinted at Jordan’s role during a recent media appearance.

Michael Jordan’s role on NBC partially revealed

During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams, Collinsworth teased Jordan’s role as a special contributor for the broadcast. And it sounds awesome.

“It will be a deep dive into the brain of Michael Jordan. Is that enough of a tease without giving away anything?… The things you would really want to know from Michael Jordan… It’s like details way inside the brain of the best basketball player that ever lived.”

Check out the clip below:

That sounds pretty awesome.

We don’t know how often the studio broadcasts will feature Jordan. NBC has really been able to take advantage of getting the broadcasting rights and adding talent along the way. That’s great news for NBA fans.

The NBA on NBC officially makes its return for opening night with a double header featuring the Houston Rockets at the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Golden State Warriors at the Los Angeles Lakers at 10 p.m. ET.

You can find the full schedule for the NBA on NBC here.

Even after his playing career is over, Chicago Bulls and basketball legend Michael Jordan continues to break records. This time, he had the help of the late Kobe Bryant.

A very rare 1/1 2007-08 Dual Logoman Autographed Kobe Bryant-Michael Jordan card is up for auction and is currently priced at $7,076,000.00 including the buyer’s premium. When it officially sells, it will break the record for most expensive basketball card, beating the previous mark of $5.9 million for the 2009 Panini National Treasures Logoman Steph Curry 1/1 in a private sale.

The demand for this Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant card is astronimcal

“The demand for this card is astronomical, which makes sense, because it has everything, including photos, jersey patches and signatures from two of the greatest players who ever stepped on the court,” says Chris Ivy, Heritage’s Director of Sports Auctions. “The Dual Logoman card offered in this auction is the only example created that includes only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant — making it the most sought-after example of the incredible Upper Deck Logoman series, and because of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death in 2020, it always will be the only one.

An undeniably unique lot that will be offered in the auction is a Massive 1994-98 United Center Original Game Used Court Section that is signed by Jordan … with five inscriptions. Measuring 8 by 8 feet, this extraordinary keepsake is part of the floor used when Jordan returned to the team after his first retirement and helped the team embark on its second run of three consecutive NBA championships.

Teams are required by the NBA to replace their court flooring at least every 10 years; photo-matching experts at PSA have matched this court in its current state to photography from the 2001-02 season through the 2005-06 campaign, after which it was replaced. More than a decade after it was removed from service, the consignor arranged to have Jordan sign it.

Not only did the NBA legend inscribe his enormous — 32 inches! — signature, but he underscored his autograph with details rarely if ever added to others: “Air Jordan, 5x MVP, 6x Finals MVP, 10x Scoring Title, HOF 2009.”

Michael Jordan appears on eight double logoman cards all-time but this is the only one that features the late Kobe Bryant. The auction will end on August 23rd.

Jalen Hurts has revealed that one person he relies on is Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Hurts has the drive to win, and it wasn’t satiated by his Super Bowl title from last NFL season. That winning drive was something Jordan had and utilized to the tune of six championships, and that’s why the Philadelphia Eagles star QB is leaning on the NBA icon.

Jalen Hurts has won one title in his sport, so he has a ways to go before he reaches the level that Michael Jordan was at with the Chicago Bulls. He also had a loss in the title game two years prior, something Jordan never experienced.

Nevertheless, that winning drive that helped Jordan become the greatest basketball player of all time in the eyes of so many is what Hurts wants to channel. It’s why the two have become friends and why it’s one of the most important relationships the Eagles QB has formed.

“That’s been a growing relationship and growing friendship,” Hurts said via Esports Insider in an exclusive interview. “And obviously the mentality he’s had, what he’s meant to competitive sports, speaks for itself. That’s something that I’m able to lean on.”

Jordan is not the only legend in the sports world that Hurts has a relationship with and relies on, though. When asked, he said, “Yeah, you have conversations with some pretty good people, pretty cool people, successful people. I keep that intimate. I know obviously the relationship with MJ is out there, so I’ll be respectful to the other ones.”

Whether or not Jordan can help guide Hurts to that level of success with his advice and experience remains to be seen. Jordan’s winning drive and competitiveness were only one piece of the puzzle; it helped that he was also one of the most talented players the NBA has ever seen, and Hurts has so far not shown that.

Either way, it certainly can’t hurt to lean on a genuine mythical figure in the sports world and glean whatever you can.

By any metric, accolade, or analysis, Michael Jordan is easily one of the best basketball players of all time. The former Chicago Bulls legend is considered by most of the sports world as one of the two or three (at worst) best players to ever touch an NBA court.

The debate lies in where he ranks there. For a while, the former UNC guard was considered the best with ease and without much competition. In the last several years, as LeBron James’ case has grown, there’s been a spirited debate, and Bleacher Report’s NBA staff just waded in with their rankings.

Bleacher Report ranks Michael Jordan as the best ever

Despite the mounting accolades, performances, and counting stats, Bleacher Report’s staff still doesn’t believe LeBron James gets the edge over Michael Jordan. Not every NBA writer does, though, as Jordan’s lowest rank was two, and James’ highest was one.

“Michael Jordan is generally accepted as the GOAT, owning the highest career scoring average in NBA history and a perfect 6-of-6 performance in the Finals. But his legacy goes beyond the stats, and even the awards,” they wrote.

Jordan has meant more to basketball than anyone from a cultural standpoint, they argued. “From his signature shoe, to becoming the sport’s most elite competitor, Jordan established a blueprint for the NBA superstars who followed him,” the staff noted.

“Virtually every alpha in the modern era pulled something from Jordan. Kobe Bryant cribbed MJ’s work ethic and on-court demeanor. LeBron James borrowed the image cultivation and marketing savvy,” B/R went on.

They did admit that there is a legitimate argument for James and his “superior scoring efficiency, passing, and longevity,” all of which he can claim over Jordan. In fact, James was pretty close to landing that top spot. “But MJ never lost on the biggest stage, and he felt pretty close to god-like in his prime,” they concluded.

That 6-0 record in the NBA Finals might be the deciding factor in this debate, at least according to Bleacher Report. The resumes for both Jordan and James are incredible, but for now, Jordan still gets the nod.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the most successful franchises in the NBA, with their peak coming in the late 1980s and the 1990s, where they won six titles, winning three straight twice (1991-1993 and 1996-1998). The Bulls have not won a title since 1998 and have had little success since the ‘90s, with the Derrick Rose era coming the closest to that success.

The Bulls were led to their success in the ‘80s and ‘90s by Michael Jordan, who is considered by all accounts to be the greatest basketball player ever. Jordan is a legend in the game, making a name for himself by never losing in the NBA Finals, and being one of the most feared and competitive players.

For all of his greatness, today marks a significant moment in the career of Jordan and the Bulls franchise, as if it weren’t for Jordan, the Bulls probably wouldn’t be relevant.

Today marks a significant moment in the Bulls’ history, as it’s the 41st anniversary of the Bulls selecting Jordan with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. Jordan was taken behind the great Hakeem Olajuwon, who was the first overall pick by the Houston Rockets, a 12x All-Star and Hall of Famer, and Sam Bowie, who was the second overall pick by the Portland Trailblazers, and who had a solid 10-year NBA career.

Along with Jordan and Olajuwon, the 1984 Draft was rich in Hall of Fame talent, as Charles Barkley (Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets) and John Stockton (Utah Jazz) were the other two Hall of Famers selected in that class.

Jordan had a 15-year career in the NBA, spending 13 years playing with the Bulls, with him “retiring” for the 1993-94 season to pursue a career in professional baseball. Joradan eventually came back and finished up his career with the Washington Wizards (2001-2003) after another retirement stint.

In those 15 years, Jordan played in 1072 games (1039 starts) and averaged 38.3 minutes per game, had a .497 field goal percentage, 6.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and averaged 30.1 points per game, which is the best in the history of the NBA. Jordan was also a 14x All-Star, the Rookie of the Year winner for 1984, a five-time MVP award winner, and was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the 1987-88 season.

Jordan will be appearing on NBC for this upcoming season

This upcoming NBA season should be more exciting, with the announcement that Jordan would be joining the NBA’s coverage on NBC as a “special contributor.” Jordan rarely makes television appearances or gives interviews, so having him on as a contributor to get his insight and knowledge of the game will be a treat for all fans. Jordan, when asked how he felt about joining NBC as a contributor said he was “excited”.

“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” said Jordan. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

Given his greatness of Michael Jordan, he will offer things that the casual fan doesn’t pick up on, and hopefully, he finds enjoyment in doing these broadcasts, which could lead to him doing more.

He soared through the air, defied gravity, and redefined greatness.

Michael Jordan wasn’t just the face of the NBA in the 1990s — he was the NBA. With six championship rings, five MVPs, and an unrelenting will to win, Jordan’s legacy with the Chicago Bulls remains the gold standard in professional sports. Add to that his brief but notable stint in Major League Baseball with the Birmingham Barons, and one thing becomes clear: Michael Jordan is hardwired for competition.

What made him successful in both basketball and baseball? A lethal cocktail of obsession, strategy, endurance, and psychological warfare — traits that just so happen to mirror the core demands of another battlefield: the poker table.

In private rooms, smoky back corners of casinos, and star-studded charity events, Jordan found a new arena to dominate — one where the cards are hidden, but the stakes are just as real.

How a Basketball God Found Poker

Michael Jordan’s love of gambling is hardly a secret. From golf wagers with teammates to high-stakes blackjack sessions in Atlantic City, Jordan’s competitive fire has never been limited to the court. But among his many off-court obsessions, poker stood out as his true cerebral fix.

He was first introduced to poker during his early NBA days, reportedly through games with teammates like Scottie Pippen and Ron Harper. These weren’t just harmless bonding rituals — they were fiercely competitive affairs. Jordan didn’t just want to win; he wanted to dominate, studying tells, exploiting patterns, and using his infamous trash talk to unsettle opponents, reports Forbes.

Poker, like basketball, offered him something critical: the ability to control outcomes through preparation, instinct, and psychological pressure.

The Traits That Translated to the Felt

Michael Jordan didn’t bring raw talent to poker — he brought the habits of a killer competitor.

  • Obsessive Preparation: Just as he watched hours of game tape before facing the Knicks or Pistons, Jordan took poker seriously. He studied the game, leaned on experienced mentors, and became known for remembering even minor hands weeks later.
  • Mental Fortitude: Poker isn’t about the best hand — it’s about the best mind. Jordan’s legendary ability to stay calm under pressure (think: “The Shot” against Cleveland or Game 6 in Utah) translated perfectly to the slow-burn tension of a poker hand.
  • Trash Talk & Psychological Manipulation: Jordan wasn’t just a master tactician — he was a mental assassin. At the poker table, he used banter, aggression, and reputation to pressure others into folding. Many players report feeling they were “already beat” just by sitting at the same table.

Mentors, Friends, and Card Sharks

One of Jordan’s closest companions in the poker world was Charles Barkley, another NBA legend known for his love of cards and casinos. Barkley has often spoken about their legendary golf and poker sessions, sometimes wagering tens of thousands per game.

Jordan also played with other high-profile poker lovers like Antoine Walker, John Salley, and later even Phil Hellmuth, one of the most decorated players in poker history. Hellmuth reportedly admired Jordan’s table presence and competitive edge, noting how Jordan “hated to lose, even at cards.”

While Jordan never competed in high-stakes public tournaments like the World Series of Poker, he regularly played in private games with pros, celebrities, and wealthy businessmen, often putting tens — or hundreds — of thousands on the line.

He was also inspired by the iconic “everyman” Chris Moneymaker who won a 2003 WSOP bracelet after being the first online qualifier. The then full-time accountant symbolized how anyone with the grit and determination to push through adversity had a chance in the poker world, and this resonated with Jordan. Moneymaker who is now an ACR Pro for the popular Americas Cardroom is the opposite of Jordan – he wasn’t born with athletic superiority or a gift from God. However, Moneymaker has made a name for himself as a poker great, showing how the barrier to entry is low if you’re willing to work at your craft.

Big Games and Bigger Bets

Perhaps the most well-known example of Jordan’s poker obsession is the infamous card game during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. “The Dream Team” reportedly played poker well into the night, with Jordan at the center of the action, locked in fierce battles with Barkley, Magic Johnson, and others.

The games weren’t just for fun. Teammates recalled Jordan getting visibly agitated when he lost and doubling down to win his money back. In fact, some players joked that the real competition wasn’t on the court — it was in the hotel poker room.

Another reported incident took place during his MLB stint. On road trips with the Birmingham Barons, Jordan would organize poker nights on the team bus, often running the game himself and intimidating teammates with his sharp instincts and trash talk.

In charity circles, Jordan’s poker passion also served a philanthropic purpose. He’s played in numerous celebrity poker games benefiting organizations like the James R. Jordan Foundation and Make-A-Wish. In these games, Jordan’s presence alone could boost buy-ins and viewership, turning a standard tournament into a headline event.

The Myth, the Money, and the Mystery

Jordan’s poker play is legendary, but it’s also cloaked in secrecy. Because many of his highest-stakes games were private, much of what we know comes from anecdotes, leaks, and teammate stories. There are reports of million-dollar swings, weekend-long games, and even hosted tournaments in his Chicago mansion.

And while critics have occasionally raised concerns over his gambling habits — including during the height of his NBA career — Jordan himself has always brushed them off

“I have a competition problem,” he once famously said, “a competitive problem.”

That “problem” made him a global icon. And at the poker table, it made him a player you never wanted to see across from you — cool, calculating, relentless.

Still Betting on Greatness

Michael Jordan may be long retired from the NBA hardwood, but his competitive fire hasn’t dimmed. Whether it’s golf, business, or poker, he continues to pursue the thrill of domination — not just winning, but breaking opponents with skill, strategy, and sheer willpower.

In the game of poker, as in life, Jordan never folded when it counted. And that’s what makes his obsession with the game more than a hobby — it’s another chapter in a legendary career built on the desire to conquer.

At the poker table, the rules may change — but for Michael Jordan, the game is always the same. Win. At. All. Costs.

The Greatest of All-Time is getting ready for a new venture in life and it involves the NBA again. On Monday, NBC Universal announced that Michael Jordan will be a special guest contributor for the network’s NBA coverage beginning with the 2025-26 season.

NBC bought the rights to coverage of the NBA last year beginning with next season and has slowly been rolling out the announcements. But Monday’s announcement is by far the biggest as it involves Michael Jordan and his first venture into broadcasting.

Here is how the company announced the news via social media:

During the 90’s the NBA on NBC was the premier event of the week and it often featured Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the middle of their dynasty run. When you think of the NBA on NBC, you associate it with Jordan and the Bulls, so it’s nice to see him back involved again.

It’s unclear how involved Jordan will be or what the job entails but we should expect to see his analysis during coverage this season.

NBC released a statement along with Jordan on this news:

“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” said Michael Jordan. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

“Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself,” said NBC Sports President Rick Cordella. “We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”

Michael Jordan’s post-career ventures

Jordan ended up retiring three times in his NBA career but the six-time champion called it quits for good following the 2002-03 season with the Washington Wizards. He never pursued broadcasting at all and Chicago sports historian Jack Silverstein revealed why shortly after this news:

While Jordan wasn’t involved in broadcasting, he still found ways to stay involved with basketball as he owned the Charlotte Hornets franchise before selling it. He also founded 23XI Racing which has a NASCAR Cup Series Team featuring Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick.

Of course, Jordan also still loves the game of Golf as well as noted by his Grove XXIII course down in Florida.

But this is a big step for Jordan into the broadcasting world and a huge surprise for NBA fans.

Jordan Brand sets to launch new golf line for Summer 2025

Michael Jordan’s love for golf is well known as dating back to his days dominating the NBA. While Jordan is the greatest to ever play basketball, his golf game is pretty impressive as well. And now, the GOAT’s brand is getting back into the golf apparel business with a re-launch.

Jordan Brand is set to launch a Summer golf apparel line in 2025 fresh with new golf shoes and apparel to hit stores. The apparel is designed to keep you comfortable yet stylish at the same time on the course. The line is designed to also be worn off the course too, providing some style to your wardrobe this Summer.

Over the weekend, Jordan Brand hosted an event at Michael Jordan’s signature golf course, Grove XXIII in Florida to show off the new products.

The Air Rev Golf Shoe makes its debut

The most notable addition to golf collection is a new shoe titled the “Air Rev Golf” which blends innovation and an iconic style for the golf course.

The Air Rev introduces groundbreaking Flight Lock technology — a customizable containment system built for power, stability, and precision. With a movable Air Zoom unit, it locks the foot in place while acting like a gas pedal for more power into your golf swing.

For support, the shoe features an interchangeable Formula23 foam insert to tailor for both right and left-handed golfers. The dial lacing system allows golfers to further customize their fit, and the leno weave strap helps them lock in for all-day performance.

Jordan released a statement on the design of the new shoe:

“The future of golf isn’t tied to its past,” says Michael Jordan. “For the next generation, it’s bolder and more modern. Jordan Brand Golf blends performance, innovation and iconic style, building a future where the players, not the past, define what’s next.”

The shoe releases on May 14th at jordan.com and at select North American retailers followed by a global launch in the coming months.

The Chicago Bulls had a stellar win over the Los Angeles Lakers last night edging things out by a score of 119-117 in a packed United Center.

The game was won on a buzzer-beater by the Bulls point guard Josh Giddey, who has been playing out of his mind in March.

Another player who has been playing out of his mind this month is Coby White, who has won back-to-back Player of the Week awards in the Eastern Conference.

These two along with rookie Matas Buzelis have all contributed to the Bull’s success as of late and why they’re defying expectations.

The Chicago Bulls have found their footing

The Bulls have found their footing and are playing good basketball at the right time. As the season winds down, the Bulls are heading into the end of the season ninth in the Eastern Conference standings and are seven games under .500 at 33-40.

The Bulls are one of the teams vying for a spot in the play-in tournament and what seemed to be a disaster of a season has flipped on its face, and the Bulls look like a playoff team.

Since the trade deadline, the Bulls are 12-10 and have played better basketball without Zach LaVine than they did with him.

To succeed in the tournament and possibly the playoffs, the Bulls rely on their three young stars Giddey, White, and Buzelis.

Giddey, White, and Buzelis are all doing their part to help the Bulls finish strong this season.

Giddey has been playing the best out of the three, leading the team in steals at 1.2 a game and being the team’s point guard and has a career-high in assists with 7.0 on the season.

Giddey’s hot streak this month produced a stat line never seen in the NBA before, having 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 17.0 assists, and 8.0 blocks in the previous game against the Lakers.

In the game against the Lakers, Giddey had his fifth triple-double on the season, scoring 24.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, and dishing out 11.0 assists in 40.0 minutes. Giddey also added 2.0 steals to his ledger.

Giddey’s performance coincides with Whites’ back-to-back Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors and Buzelis coming into his own as an NBA player.

White also got in on the scoring actions having 26.0 points of his own and adding in 9.0 assists, while Buzelis had a stat line of 12.0, 7.0, and 1.0.

The Bulls need to bottle this success

The Bulls should bottle this success and rely on these three to perform well in the postseason.

Thankfully, sweeping the season series against the Lakers should give the Bulls confidence as they wind things down.

The Bulls have nine games left, with their next match coming against the Dallas Mavericks at home.

The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of what continues to be a trying season and thankfully it’s almost over.

The Bulls are competing for a spot in the play-in tournament, which they could make as they sit tenth in the Eastern Conference standings and have a record of 28-38.

The offseason will be a busy time for the Bulls to rebuild the team and set their focus on the draft and free agency.

If the season couldn’t get any worse, the Bulls received terrible news regarding their championship banners, which were damaged from a concert.

According to Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune, the banners were damaged by pyrotechnics from the band Disturbed in a concert they hosted. The banners affected were the Bulls 1996-1998 championship banners, which is the best era in Bulls franchise history.

Per Poe:

“United Center is currently working with the Bulls to explore options to repair these banners,” United Center communications said in a statement. “While the banners will not be in place for the remainder of this season, we do anticipate them being back in place next season.”

They’ll be back

Thankfully, the banners will be back, but the question is, how does this even happen?

This accident could signal a bad omen, but hopefully, this is just one of those flukes.

The Chicago Bulls weren’t immediate championship contenders when they selected Michael Jordan with the No. 3 pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. The Bulls’ first NBA championship came in 1991, Jordan’s seventh season in the Association.

Jordan won his second NBA MVP award in 1991. His first came in 1988, a season that came to an end when the Detroit Pistons knocked off Chicago in the Eastern Conference semifinals in five games.

Chicago selected center Will Perdue with the No. 11 pick in the 1988 draft. ChiCitySports spoke with former Bulls center Will Perdue about Jordan’s upward rise as a part of Michelob ULTRA’s 2025 “Play Like A Pro” Program.

Will Perdue: Michael Jordan had to learn how to sacrifice

Perdue explained what lesson from head coach Phil Jackson helped elevate Jordan from being a great player to a legend who could lead a team to multiple championships.

“We knew he was that type of player, physically, athletically,” Perdue said of Jordan. “The interesting thing for me was… watching Phil Jackson treat Michael the same as he treated everybody else, and trying to explain to Michael. And that’s the biggest thing that people don’t understand. Everybody’s like, ‘It’s about motivation, it’s about mental toughness.’

“It’s about probably the word that not a lot of people talk about is sacrifice, and watching Phil Jackson continue to harp to Michael about the sacrifices he needs to make in order to really win. And Phil, mentioning to Michael, ‘Okay, right now, you’re known as the best player in the league, but do people talk about you as a guy that makes his teammates better?'”

Jordan had to trust his Chicago Bulls teammates

Perdue said that it took a while for Jordan to trust his teammates. When he did, the Bulls started winning championships and Jordan’s legacy grew exponentially.

“Once you start winning championships and uplifting your teammates, that’s when you go from being great and one of the best players of all time to probably the greatest,” Perdue said. “And it even took a while for Michael to, I don’t want to say to accept that, but just to trust his teammates because of the talent level and how different what it was between him and everybody else.

“But just watching Phil continue to work on him and talk to him. We’re watching film as a team, and showing Michael that, ‘Listen, man, you’re not you’re not perfect. Look at these mistakes you’re making, just like the other guys.’ And he had to humble himself a little bit. And as you saw, it didn’t happen immediately. It took a while, but once he kind of put two and two together, it all kind of worked itself out.”

Perdue said the sacrifice Jordan eventually made was the “ultimate commitment” the star made to winning in the sport.

“Just the sacrifice he was willing to make, but also just the ultimate commitment to winning, which is another thing that people talk about… That right there is Michael Jordan in a nutshell,” Perdue said.

Michelob ULTRA’s 2025 “Play Like A Pro” Program

The deadline to enter to win the Michelob ULTRA’s 2025 “Play Like A Pro” Program is March 14. The Bulls’ activation is set for Friday, April 11. Five winners (and their plus ones) will be selected to enjoy this exclusive experience at the United Center.

The ultimate basketball experience will include:

  • The opportunity to play on the United Center court
  • A chance to meet a Bulls legend during the experience and hear his Chalk Talk

  • A customized Chicago Bulls jersey

The Chicago Bulls eeked out a 114-109 victory against the Miami Heat on Saturday night that featured seven lead changes.

The Bulls still sit in the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference standings and have 18 games left before the end of the season.

The Bulls keep winning games when they should be trying to position themselves to get a decent spot in the draft, where they can hopefully draft another big or a small forward, or possibly acquire Cooper Flagg.

The Bulls’ victory over the Heat featured another stellar performance by their guard Josh Giddey, who joined some elite company based on that outing.

Giddey was outstanding against the Heat, helping push the Bulls to complete the sweep in Florida after beating the Orlando Magic on Thursday 125-123. In the win over the Heat, Giddey had his third triple-double of the season, which ties him with Bulls legend Michael Jordan for the most in a season.

“Josh Giddy has 3rd triple double of season“

Giddey’s stat line: 37.0 minutes, 26.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 12.0 assists, 1.0 blk, 1.0 steal, while shooting, 60% (9-15) from the field, and 75% (3-4) from three.

This game against the Heat also marked Giddeys ninth straight game of scoring 15+ points in a game, with five of them coming as 20+.

Giddey is finally coming into his own and is showing that he’ll be worth every penny of the contract extension the Bulls will give him. That is when they decide to give it to him.

From a statistical standpoint, the 22-year-old Giddey has career highs in steals (1.1) and assists (6.7) this season. He’s also been relatively healthy this season, whereas some of his teammates haven’t, by playing in 58 out of the Bull’s 64 games.

Giddey will become a restricted free agent this summer, where he’ll test the market and see what his value truly is. The Bulls will likely allow Giddey to do so and can match whatever offer he receives.

A player to build around

The Bulls must retain Giddey past this season, given they’re in a rebuilding mode.

Giddey has shown the ability to be a floor general and has the potential to average ten assists a game. Pairing him with Matas Buzelis and Zach Collins, who are showing they’re also players the Bulls should invest in, is what the Bulls should be doing.

Buzelis and Collins could help Giddey in his assist totals by skyrocketing them with their ability to work in the paint and the pick-and-roll.

With only 18 games left and Giddey looking to be on a heater, there’s a possibility that he’ll surpass MJ and become the Bulls leader in triple-doubles in a season.

The Chicago Bulls got their second win of the month by blowing out the 76ers in their arena by a score of 142-110. So far this month the Bulls have not been playing the best basketball, having a below-.500 record by being 2-7 for the month.

The Bulls are vying for a decent spot in the draft where they can hopefully land a player like Cooper Flagg to accelerate their rebuild.

The Bulls have a few players on their roster, like rookie Matas Buzelis and point guard Josh Giddey, who are proving to be centerpieces to build around.

In the win over the 76ers, Giddey led the Bulls in points (25), rebounds (16), and assists (6) in 31.0 minutes of action. This game marked Giddey’s third straight game of 20+ points and had a double-double, according to Bulls Insider K.C. Johnson of CHSN, Giddey joins an elite company of players that includes Michael Jordan who has also accomplished this feat.

“Great stat from Bulls PR: Josh Giddey joins Michael Jordan, Jerry Sloan, Clem Haskins and Guy Rodgers as only Bulls with at least three straight 20-point double-doubles. Haskins and Rodgers are for the old school Bulls fans.”

Giddey is showing his worth

Giddey a 22-year-old from Melbourn, Australia, is having a stellar first season with the Bulls after being traded over from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Playing in 54 of the Bull’s 58 games, the Bull’s 6-8 point guard is averaging 12.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists (tying his career high), and has a career-high in steals at 1.1.

The former All-Rookie 2nd Team member (2022) is in the final year of his contract before he becomes a restricted free agent this offseason. So far the Bulls have not shown interest in giving Giddey a contract extension, with their history showing they allow players to set their market before giving them a deal. This appears to be the case since the Bulls gave Lonzo Ball an extension, but not Giddey.

Giddey needs an extension

Giddey has shown that he is worth an extension and is one of the players the Bulls should build around, along with Matas Buzelis.

The Bulls gave up a valuable asset in Alex Caruso to get Giddey, and you don’t do that for just one year of a player with Giddey’s talents.

Chicago Bulls rookie forward Matas Buzelis is set to take part in the NBA Dunk Contest, and he has a real shot of winning it.

Buzelis is one of the more exciting pieces the Bulls have, as his minutes have steadily increased throughout this season.

One NBA great thinks the Bulls have something special in their 20-year-old forward and thought he could’ve been a top-ten pick if he had gone to college.

The Chicago Bulls have a special talent

Chicago Bulls

NBA great Carmelo Anthony thinks the Bulls have something special in Buzelis, saying that he would’ve been a top-10 pick if he had gone to college (expletive warning).

“I expletive with Matas. He could’ve been the top pick in the draft. I think Chicago has something with Matas.”

Buzelis has had an interesting path to the NBA by being a consensus five-star recruit but decided to forgo college and play in the G League instead. According to his profile done by RotoWire, they describe Buzelis as an “excellent ballhandler for his size” and he has “elite defensive instincts”.

A tremendous rookie season

Buzelis has had an interesting rookie year, going from having zero minutes to being the Bull’s starting power forward. Since becoming the Bulls starter in four games Matas has averaged 25.8 minutes, has 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and has averaged a block a game.

In February, Buzelis has been even better, scoring 14.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, and is shooting 60.3% from the floor and 40% from three. For such a spectacular rookie year, Buzelis was honored with the privilege of being invited to the Dunk Contest and played in the NBA Rising Stars game.

Buzelis competition for the Dunk Contest will be Stephon Castle of the Spurs, Andre Jackson Jr. of the Bucks, and 2x winner Mac McClung of the Orlando Magic. Buzelis should do well in the contest, having practiced and received advice from his former teammate Zach LaVine, who was a 2x winner back in 2015 and 2016. According to Buzelis, he has some dunks hidden up his sleeve that could win him the whole thing.

Matas will be the fifth Bulls player to participate in the Dunk Contest with the last Bulls player participating being Tyrus Thomas back in 2007. Buzelis joins the likes of Bulls Legends Michael Jordan (’85, ‘87, and ‘88), Scottie Pippen (’90), and Orlando Woolridge (’84 and ‘85).

A piece to build around

Matas is proving that he is someone that the Bulls have to build around and make the face of the franchise.

If Buzelis can win the Dunk Contest, he will propel his name further into stardom and bring some notoriety to him and the Bulls franchise.

The Chicago Bulls need more production out of some of their young players if they are to right the ship and hopefully go into the All-Star break with a winning record.

Recently the Bulls had point guard Coby White go down with an ankle injury and currently, there is no timetable for his return. Since White went down the Bulls have turned to their talented 22-year-old Josh Giddey to be their main facilitator.

Giddey has been up and down offensively being the main driver of the Bulls offense one game and then being nowhere to be seen the next. Recently, however, Giddey has found some consistency and is playing a lot better as of late.

Thriving in his new role

NBA: Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls

Giddey is thriving for the Bulls in his new with having his fourth straight game with a double-double and his eighth in the last ten games according to Bulls insider K.C. Johnson.

“4th straight double-double for Josh Giddey and 8th in last 10 games”

Giddey on the season is averaging 11.5 points (a career low), 7.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists (a career-high), and is shooting 44.1% from the field just 33.1% from behind the arc. Giddey was very productive in the win against the Nuggets scoring 12 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists in 27 minutes of work.

With Giddey having four consecutive double-doubles he’s now in elite company with being second to Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Jordan for his part had seven straight games of having a double-double. Giddey does have a chance to tie or pass Jordan if he can keep up this pace.

The Chicago Bulls did not give Giddey an extension

Yesterday was the NBA’s deadline to issue contract extensions to players and according to Chicago Sports Network, the Bulls did not offer an extension to Giddey.

“The #Bulls did not reach an extension with Josh Giddey before today’s deadline…

@KCJHoop was all over it”

This tracks with the Bulls with them not issuing contract extensions to both Patrick Williams and Coby White to allow them to set their markets. With this move, Giddey will be a restricted free agent this summer and will figure to do the same.

The Bulls need to keep Giddey past this season, which I expect they will do. Given that Giddey is starting to get more consistent offensively and the Bulls possibly going into a rebuild keeping Giddey around long-term makes sense.

Keeping Giddey long-term

Giddey is a very special player and the Bulls wouldn’t have given up Alex Caruso if they didn’t feel that way.

Having Giddey be the main facilitator and providing scoring opportunities is what the Bulls need from him primarily and to also grab rebounds and score whenever he can.

If Giddey can focus on that and elevate that level of his game, the scoring will come and the Bulls should be heading to a good spot.

The Chicago Bulls currently sit at 18-25 and are tenth in the Eastern Conference standings but have been playing like one of the bottom teams in the league as of late.

With the Bull’s season not going as planned and the NBA Trade Deadline a little over two weeks away the Bulls could be sellers at the deadline with stars like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic drawing the most interest from teams.

Recently ending their five-game losing streak with a win over the LA Clippers but receiving news that point guard Coby White could miss time due to an ankle injury, the Bulls could sell off a lot of their valuable assets and plunge into a full-fledged rebuild per reports.

Could the Chicago Bulls’ top trade asset

NBA: Washington Wizards at Chicago Bulls

Zach LaVine is the top asset that the Bulls have to trade away, and he could bring back a decent package of players and picks if the Bulls do decide to go into a rebuild. LaVine for the season is averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists which should’ve netted him an All-Star nod, but for some reason was snubbed from this year’s All-Star team. LaVine has also stayed healthy this season playing in 39 of the Bull’s 44 total games when he only played a total of 25 last season.

The one knock LaVine has against him that hurts his trade value is his contract in which he is owed $136 million for the next three seasons. With that being the case for LaVine the Bulls could look to trading fan favorite Coby White to get a better package back.

Would the Bulls trade White?

NBA: Chicago Bulls at Portland Trail Blazers

Since the Bulls season hasn’t gone as planned and with how they have been playing recently, all signs point towards the Bulls being sellers at the deadline. According to Evan Sidery an NBA contributor at Forbes he reports that all signs in the league are pointing to the Bulls going into a rebuild and them willing to listen to offers for White.

“Noise is growing louder around the Bulls going all-in on a full-scale rebuild, which could include trading Coby White. White is valued highly by Chicago, but they appear open to listening to trade offers as he would net the most significant return of any player on their roster.”

The 24-year-old White would indeed bring back a significant return as Sidery says with White being a solid player in his career so far and providing great production for the Bulls this season averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and shooting 81.6% from the free throw line. White also has a more manageable contract than LaVine with only being owed $12.9 million for next season before becoming a free agent.

The trade deadline

I believe the Bulls will likely find a trade partner for Nikola Vucevic being he is also playing like an All-Star and is on a manageable contract with being owed $21.5 million for next season.

As for White, yes, he would bring back a decent haul for the rebuild, but you also need someone of his skill set to build around and come out of that rebuild with.

After the next two weeks, the Bulls roster can look completely different with three of their starters drawing trade interest and one of their top bench pieces Lonzo Ball also drawing interest from teams.

Looking at who is on the same level as Michael Jordan in their sport

There are few sporting legends out there quite like Michael Jordan. He’s not only a basketball icon, but he’s also an enigma, whose impact transcended the basketball court. Michael Jordan’s blend of charisma, athleticism, and mental durability elevated him to a sporting status that few professional athletes have ever achieved.

Whether it’s his six NBA title-winner medals with the Chicago Bulls or his unmistakable global brand, Jordan is often considered the epitome of a sporting enigma – a larger-than-life figure whose allure continues to grow even after departing the sport he so dearly loved. There’s no better proof of Jordan’s beloved reputation than the recent rare Michael Jordan sports card which went to auction at a starting price of $250,000 with Goldin Auctions.

Nevertheless, Michael Jordan isn’t the only sports star to capture the hearts and minds of fans worldwide. This article shines a spotlight on a handful of other sporting icons whose enigmatic presence rivals that of “Air Jordan”.

Muhammad Ali – The People’s Champion

photo 1592822894876 d456ebf58e4b

If you’re wondering whether there’s a more enigmatic sporting champion than Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali surely ticks all the right boxes. He stands tall alongside “Air Jordan” as one of the finest athletes of the 20th century.

Muhammad Ali wasn’t just a sensational heavyweight boxing champion. He was also a political and social activist, utilizing his platform as a force for good in terms of many causes. Sure, Ali was bold and brash, but his bravado was due to one thing: his supreme self-confidence.

This was a man who had all the attributes to be a heavyweight boxing superstar. He was light on his feet, exceptionally quick with his jab, and carried immense power too. Those epic battles with Joe Frazier and George Foreman live long in the memory.

Diego Maradona – Football’s Troubled Genius

As with Michael Jordan, Argentinian football maestro Diego Maradona was a figure who transcended his sport. He’s still considered one of the finest footballers of all time today, some three decades after his peak. His unique combination of raw skills, cunning, and charisma captured the hearts of football followers the world over.

He’s best known for his controversial “Hand of God” goal in the 1986 FIFA World Cup quarter final against England, just minutes after scoring what’s still known as the “Goal of the Century”, dribbling his way through the entire English midfield and defence to score a stupendous solo goal.

Off the field, Maradona had his own personal demons to battle. He remained adored by millions in his native Argentina and in the Italian city of Naples, after Maradona helped Napoli to their first Serie A title. Even after his passing in November 2020, Maradona’s legacy still lives on. Napoli’s stadium is now named after him and there are murals of him all over Argentina. Officially licensed online slot games have been another popular way to pay homage to icons of popular culture. It’s therefore no surprise that there’s a Maradona-themed slot title listed within the leading libraries of online casino operators, featuring pictures of the man himself.

Ayrton Senna – F1’s Stylish and Spiritual Icon

The Brazilian Formula 1 maestro Ayrton Senna is unanimously considered one of the finest racing drivers in the history of motorsport. The three-time Formula 1 world champion had fans in the palm of his hand thanks to his stylish driving style and his deeply spiritual and enigmatic figure outside of the cockpit.

Like “Air Jordan”, Senna had an emotional connection with his supporters; especially his native Brazilian fans. He wore the Brazilian flag with pride, wherever he raced. Despite earning riches due to his success on the F1 stage, Senna was a philanthropist without shouting about it. He donated millions of dollars to underprivileged children in Brazil which strengthened his appeal.

His untimely death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix sent shockwaves through the sporting world, but it only served to strengthen his legacy.

What brings the likes of Michael Jordan, Ali, Maradona, and Senna together? These are sporting legends that not only dominated their sports but enjoyed global appeal away from the microscope of their professional environments. They overcame personal and professional battles which only deepened their legacies. With larger-than-life personalities and even bigger sporting achievements, it’s no surprise that this quartet continues to inspire new generations of sporting enthusiasts and athletes alike.

Michael Jordan makes a return to Gatorade commercials with an appearance in a new ad

Gatorade is going back to its marketing roots with a new commercial in 2024 and it features a narration by the GOAT Michael Jordan.

Launching during Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, Gatorade has gone back to its “is it in you” slogan from the 90’s, getting some help from Michael Jordan and other athletes. The list of star-studded athletes includes Caitlin Clark and Jayson Tatum.

The ad titled “it hasn’t changed” is based on different sports evolving over time with the concept that only what you have inside hasn’t changed. It shows highlights from various sports as well as sports stars, focusing on a few big name athletes.

Check out the ad below:

Also included in the ad with Jayson Tatum and Caitlin Clark are Sydney McClaughlin, A’ja Wilson, Josh Allen and DJ Lagway.

The end will give you goosebumps as it shows an AI version of Michael Jordan with Gatorade drops on his face and him saying the classic punchline “Is it in you?”

Hopefully the revival of this campaign means we get more Jordan appearances in Gatorade commercials for the future.

The sports card industry saw a big boom back in 2020 with collectors scooping up product and card prices going through the roof. But here in 2024, fans of Michael Jordan will have to pay a pretty penny for one of the rarest Michael Jordan cards of all time.

Goldin Auctions is set to auction off a rare Michael Jordan card with a hefty price tag. The company announced that the 2003 Ultimate Collection Michael Jordan Logoman! Signed w/a PSA 10 Auto will be up for auction this week. But if you want to buy it, the starting price will sit at $250,000.

Here is more details on the card in a video released by Goldin. It has more information on the card which includes a game-used logo:

Here is a description of the card as well from the listing on Goldin:

This is Jordan’s very first signed “Logoman” patch card in a Chicago Bulls uniform. While the previous year’s Upper Deck release featured a trio of Jordan Logoman patch collectibles within the NBA Logo Mania Patch Autographs insert set, those cards all featured “His Airness” in the uniform of the Washington Wizards, the franchise with which he retired following the 2002-03 season. While no disrespect is intended toward Jordan’s impressive tenure in the nation’s capital, the superstar will rightfully be forever associated with the Windy City.

Much like Willie Mays’ late-career seasons with the Mets or Gordie Howe’s stint in Hartford, Jordan’s time with the Wizards afforded him a well-earned NBA send-off on his own terms, but it is undeniable that the memories most seared into our collectible consciousness—his breathtaking slam dunk from the free-throw line in the ’88 Slam Dunk Contest, “The Shot” to defeat the Cavaliers in the ’89 postseason, the series-winning jumper over Byron Russell in the ’98 Finals, and so many more—all came in a Bulls jersey.

Therefore it is only right that this is the most iconic Jordan Logoman card and, therefore, the object of envy and fascination the world over.

On the cardfront, the commemorative’s red, white, and blue game-used jersey patch, displaying the iconic NBA silhouette emblem that is contemporaneously referred to as the “Logoman,” occupies the item’s left side, next to Jordan’s blue ink on-card signature.

The autograph is a brilliant, flowing example of the legend’s scripting, earning an unsurpassable “GEM MT 10” autograph grade from PSA/DNA. Foil accents around the patch display window and over Jordan’s name and position captions lend an additional element of visual intrigue to an arresting presentation. A determined, focused action image of the gravity-defying sportsman is positioned in the center of the card, donning the all-important Bulls jersey that recalls his finest years. In the bottom corner, the limited-edition piece is hand serial-numbered “1/1.”

Why is this Michael Jordan card so rare?

michael jordan scottie pippen and phil jackson

Well, there are a few different factors on what makes this card so rare with a hefty starting price in the auction. First, it’s the greatest basketball player of all time. Let’s just start there. If you’re an NBA fan or a fan of the Chicago Bulls and were able to watch Jordan play, you’d understand.

Other factors in this are that it’s an autographed card with a PSA 10 grade on it which is the best grade a card can get. Getting a card graded is essential for high priced and rare cards as it ensures its condition with an authentic grade from PSA.

The logoman series is also a VERY popular series to collect. Over the years some logoman cards including a triple logoman card of players has increased in popularity. The logoman is simply the NBA logo that appears on a jersey of a player. It’s a cool collectible to have on a card.

The game-used aspect is also intriguing. As mentioned, this is from an era in which game-used actually meant it was used in a game. The term is now used more loosely which frustrates collectors. But that’s a different story.

NASCAR driver and 23XI Racing member Tyler Reddick has sported some awesome paint schemes over the past few years that pay homage to the team’s owner Michael Jordan. Being a driver for the team, Reddick is able to sport some rare Air Jordan shoes and drive cars that have custom paint schemes for various races.

And as the 2024 NASCAR season is getting set to kickoff, Tyler Reddick’s paint scheme for the 2024 Clash at the Coliseum has been released.

Tyler Reddick will drive the No. 45 car in a paint scheme that pays homage to the Air Jordan 4 shoe box with grey, black and red sported throughout. Checkout the scheme below:

The Air Jordan 4 is an iconic shoe in the Jordan line, making its debut in 1989 in several different colorways for Michael Jordan. It was also the first global release of the franchise, and the first shoe in the line to feature its signature “over-molded” mesh.

The car will race this weekend in Los Angeles as the 024 Clash at the Coliseum returns for another year, helping set the stage for the Daytona 500 in a few weeks. But there are some changes to the format as FOX Sports points out:

Teams are divided into three practice groups based on 2023 owner points, with the 2023 Cup champion in the third group, second in points in the second group, third in points in the first group, fourth in points in the third group, etc.

Each heat will be 25 laps — only green flag laps count. There will be no overtime. The top five in each heat advance to the main event on Sunday.

The last chance qualifying race will be for the 16 drivers who have not yet made the main event. They will start in order of heat finish, with the driver who finished sixth in Heat 1 on the pole, the driver who finished sixth in Heat 2 on the front row, the driver who finished sixth in Heat 3 starting third, the driver who finished sixth in Heat 4 starting fourth, the driver who was seventh in Heat 1 starting fifth and so on.

This race will be 75 laps and only green-flag laps count. There will be no overtime. The top-two drivers advance to the main event. (Last year, there were two last-chance qualifiers at 50 laps apiece, so this change gives drivers an additional 25 laps but also a bigger LCQ field).

The 23rd and final spot in the Clash will go to the remaining driver who has not yet qualified to the main event who was highest in 2023 driver points (not owner points, driver points). After the heats on Saturday, the driver who is highest in points could potentially not run the LCQ and just opt to use this provisional, but it is at that team’s discretion.

Let’s hope Tyler Reddick can deliver some wins this year for 23XI Racing and we can see this awesome paint scheme get some more recognition.
