To say that Sophie Cunningham made a significant impact in her first season with the Indiana Fever would be an understatement.

The Fever traded for the 6-foot-1 guard ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, which saw Cunningham make the move from the Phoenix Mercury to Indiana. The former Missouri Tigers star had spent her first six seasons with the Mercury, and her trade to the Fever marked a crucial juncture in her career.

Before a season-ending knee injury cut her season with the Fever short, Cunningham was a solid contributor for her new squad. She averaged 8.6 points on 46.9% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 triples in 25.2 minutes per contest. Unfortunately, Cunningham tore the MCL in her right knee in August, putting an end to her campaign after 30 games.

Indiana Fever fans want Sophie Cunningham to stay

At this point, however, there is no guarantee that Cunningham will remain with the Fever in 2026. She is an unrestricted free agent, which means that she can sign with any other team she chooses. Given her incredible rise to fame in 2025, it would not be a surprise if multiple teams around the league show interest in signing Cunningham in free agency.

Cunningham’s “Show Me Something” podcast recently shared an update heading into the new season. The show posted a video of Cunningham dancing inside the Fever locker room, reminding fans that the WNBA season starts in five weeks.

The post generated a lot of excitement ahead of the new campaign. However, more than a few Fever supporters could not help but focus on Cunningham’s future in Indiana. They started pleading with both Cunningham and the Fever to extend her deal with the team.

“Yes đŸ™ŒđŸŒ We need Sophie to stay with the Fever đŸ”„” a comment on Instagram read.

“yes Sophie yessssssssss please Indiana fever we need Sophie!!!!!!! ❀❀❀❀” another said.

“We need Sophie to stay with fever 👏👏” a user wrote.

“Signed back with Fever??” asked a supporter.

“@indianafever Please keep Sophie !!đŸ”„đŸ€đŸ˜Š” said another.

“Fever you need to keep Sophie. She’s an asset not a waist in any sort of way please keep her in this roster,” a reaction read.

Teams across the WNBA can officially start negotiating new deals with players starting Thursday.

Cunningham has been the enforcer for Fever teammates and was the steady shooter they relied on last year. Unfortunately, she suffered a season-ending injury during their game against the Connecticut Sun.

After a collision during the game, Cunningham tore her right MCL, effectively ending her season with the Fever. The seven-year veteran is currently a free agent, but Indiana fans are pushing to have her back next season.

Indiana Fever: Sophie Cunningham stuns in new video

Recently, the WNBA players’ union and the league reached an agreement for the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. This means the new WNBA season will proceed as scheduled, and teams can now begin preparing for the upcoming campaign.

As for Cunningham, she has been busy this offseason. The Former Missouri Tigers star has been using the break to recover from her MCL tear. She even lost 16.5 lbs at one point in her rehab.

Of course, Cunningham is also using the offseason to relax and recharge. She recently shared a video of herself swimming on the beach.

Sophie Cunningham could have had one of the best WNBA seasons in her first season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. However, in August, she suffered an MCL tear in her right knee, ending the season for her.

She incurred the injury following a collision in the second quarter of the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun.

Cunningham ended her season with the Fever, averaging 8.6 points on 46.9% from the field. The 6-foot-1 guard also shot 43.2% from the three-point area and added 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

The injury did not dampen Cunningham’s spirit as she joined teammate Caitlin Clark on the sidelines. They cheered and motivated the rest of the Fever as Indiana reached the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham visits New York as an unrestricted free agent

This offseason, as an unrestricted free agent, Cunningham has been keeping herself busy. Aside from continuing with her injury recovery, she’s also been very active on social media. She hosts the “Show Me Something” podcast alongside her long-time friend, West Wilson.

She recently stepped out in New York City as an ambassador of Quest Nutrition to host “The Grand Try” series. The series is a social-first elimination competition that features athletes from the USA Rugby team. Aside from that, the event also promoted the Quest Stacks Bars and Quest Crispy Protein Chips.

There’s certainly no lack of offseason activities for Cunningham, who is also looking forward to the 2026 WNBA season. While she has no official team yet, it is widely believed that Indiana would love to have her on their lineup again.

Cunningham established herself as the team’s enforcer while playing for the Fever. She became Clark’s staunch protector against their opponents. The Taekwondo black belt was even called for a flagrant foul and ejected against the Sun at one point in the season. This was after she had a physical altercation with Jacy Sheldon, who earlier in the game poked Clark in the eye.

While Cunningham is an unrestricted free agent, the Indiana Fever are determined to re-sign her. The 29-year-old is keeping herself busy as she recovers from a torn MCL incurred in the 2025 season.

She is also keeping herself occupied with the “Show Me Something” podcast, which she hosts with her long-time friend, West Wilson. In their last episode, they discussed their favorite underdogs in the NCAA March Madness. They talked about the teams, players, coaches, and basically everything that one needs to know about the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments.

“Iowa women’s bb making it to the final four two years in a row đŸ’›đŸ–€,” stated another. A third fan also wrote, “My favorite moment was the year my bracket had all wins in the first round. Busted during the second, but it was fun!”

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has been putting in the work to return to basketball shape this offseason.

Her first season alongside superstar Caitlin Clark was a promising one. She settled into her role as the team’s enforcer, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The seven-year vet also shot a career-high 43.2% from three-point range.

A torn MCL in August, however, limited her to just 30 games and ended her season early. Cunningham is eyeing a full comeback for the 2026 campaign.

Beyond her on-court workouts, she has kept herself busy off the hardwood to make sure she arrives at full strength for the new season.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham details challenging Pilates sessions during offseason recovery

Cunningham has been grinding in the gym this offseason, leaning on Pilates as a key part of her recovery and conditioning. In the latest episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast, the Fever guard put the spotlight on her Pilates instructor. Cunningham gave the shoutout during the show’s “Hot Girls of the Week” segment.

“It has to be my Pilates instructor. Her name is Taylor. She’s a freakin’ beast. She kicks my [expletive], and I feel so good. So I’m just shouting out Taylor for getting me into shape,” she said.

Co-host and childhood friend West Wilson quipped that he hoped Taylor wasn’t going easy on her. Cunningham was quick to set the record straight. She shared a story about a springs mishap that turned an already tough abs session into something else entirely.

“She doesn’t. Listen to this. She messed up the springs last time, and I was doing these abs, and I’m like, ‘Wow’! I took a couple of days off, but I felt like I couldn’t do anything. And she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t even do that.’ And she’s like a professional Pilates person. But she’s the best,” Cunningham added.

If the springs mishap is any indication, Cunningham is arriving at full strength. The Fever will need her at her best when the 2026 season tips off on May 9.

Sophie Cunningham has been in the WNBA for seven years now. She has spent six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and one season with the Indiana Fever. The Missouri alum is known for her sharpshooting abilities and tenacity on the court.

In her first season with the Fever, she averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals a game. On top of that, Cunningham was considered the squad’s enforcer, especially when some players bullied her teammates.

Cunningham’s toughness set the tone for the whole Fever squad, and her shooting kept them alive during clutch moments. However, her season was cut short because of a right knee injury that allowed her to play in only 30 games.

The former Missouri Tiger is taking her time in the offseason so she can come back in top shape next season.

Sophie Cunningham makes it personal during the WNBA offseason

Indiana had a great 2025 season, finishing with a 24-20 record, their best since 2015. On top of that, the Fever were the 2025 WNBA Commissioners Cup champions. Unfortunately, they were beaten by the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.

As for Cunningham, she has been working on her recovery this offseason — even losing 16.5 lbs this summer. Despite that, the 6-foot-1 guard is still enjoying the offseason. She took up a new sport, pickleball, and recently attended a NASCAR race in partnership with Arby’s.

Cunningham also has her own podcast named “Show Me Something.” In a recent episode, the Fever guard shared her dating preferences.

The topic was guys dating taller women, and Cunningham, who is 6-foot-1, revealed her honest opinion on it.

“I don’t think I’m the right tall person to ask,” Cunningham said. “Because I can never date someone shorter than me.”

Cunningham gave her thoughts about dating men who are smaller than her.

“Because I already feel big,” she added. “So, I like someone that’s going to make me feel smaller.”

In a recent TikTok post, Cunningham also shared sentiments about the personalities of tall women. It’s safe to assume that, as a tall person, she can be considered an authority on this topic.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has built a reputation for saying exactly what she thinks. She speaks candidly about league matters and everyday frustrations.

The 29-year-old recently emerged as a primary critic of the WNBA’s ongoing collective bargaining negotiations with players. On her podcast, “Show Me Something,” she blasted the league’s approach.

Cunningham criticized the slow pace and lack of progress on player demands, especially revenue sharing. She also made headlines during the 2025 season for criticizing WNBA leadership. Cunningham called Commissioner Cathy Engelbert the “most delusional leader” in league history after comments on the “Caitlin Clark effect.”

“People only know Cathy because of [Clark]
. She’s the most delusional leader our league has seen,” the WNBA star commented on an Instagram post.

Cunningham added that many WNBA officials might be “great business people,” but they “don’t know [expletive] about basketball.”

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham keeps it real, shares airport complaint

While traveling during her recovery from a knee injury this week, Cunningham added another example of her outspoken reputation. On her Instagram story, the Missouri native shared a selfie from inside an airport with a blunt assessment.

“I can’t do bad smells, but this airport smells like đŸ’©,” Cunningham wrote, clearly unimpressed with her surroundings.

The 6-foot-1 guard did not name the airport. Still, her comment perfectly captured the directness she is known for.

Cunningham has been busy traveling across America throughout the WNBA offseason. She’s emerged as one of the biggest names in the league, and her work has demanded multiple trips outside Indianapolis. The 29-year-old is no stranger to typical airport issues. This is why the fact that she could not help but complain about the smell in one particular airport says a lot.

Cunningham has been one of the most vocal defenders of her teammate, Fever guard Caitlin Clark. On her podcast, she said Clark’s critics were “literally dumb as [expletive]” if they didn’t recognize her as the face of the league.

Cunningham also defended Clark on the court in June during an incident involving Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey of the Connecticut Sun.

Clark played only 13 games last season due to recurring injuries. But one matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky attracted 2.7 million viewers. It was the WNBA’s most-watched game in 25 years. Franchises with smaller arenas moved games to larger venues to accommodate crowds drawn by Clark and the Fever.

“This is what we’ve always wanted as a league, so like, who cares who gets the credit,” Cunningham said on her podcast. “And if you’re smart, (you know) you’re making money off them. … Just be nice. Why can’t people be nice?”

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has become one of the most recognizable faces for WNBA and NBA fans alike. She boosted the Fever’s shooting and toughness since she arrived in Indiana via trade.

Cunningham helped the Fever get their first-ever 24-win season in franchise history. On top of that, she shot career highs of 43.2% from three and 46.9% from the field. The seven-year veteran also served as the Fever’s enforcer, standing up for her teammates when things got rough.

Prior to joining the Fever, she was a member of the Phoenix Mercury for six seasons. In her career, she is averaging 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Sophie Cunningham shares her thoughts on her NBA player comparison

Basketball fans and analysts alike are fond of making comparisons. Whether it be between two different eras, players, teams or even WNBA and NBA players.

During an NBA broadcast, Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller compared Fever star Caitlin Clark to Payton Pritchard. He said that he likened Pritchard’s ball handling and ability to make big shots to Clark’s abilities.

This was met by Clark’s almost poker face look, signifying that she may not have agreed with Miller’s comparison.

Most recently, Cunningham was interviewed by SiriusXM Sports. The 6-foot-1 guard shared her own NBA comparison.

“After that whole Caitlin Clark is Payton Pritchard comparison, who is Sophie Cunningham’s NBA comparison?” they asked.

“So, if you’re asking Reggie Miller, I don’t know what he would say what my NBA comparison would be,” Cunningham jokingly referenced Miller’s comments about Clark’s NBA counterpart.

“But, I feel like I get, like, a lot of Grayson Allen quite a bit,” she answered. “And I’ll take that. He’s a hell of a shooter, and he’s tough. So say less.”

That’s not a bad comparison for Cunningham, as Grayson Allen is really known to be a tough player. The Phoenix Suns guard is a good shooter and a tough defender, and Cunningham does have a pretty similar style.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is putting in the work ahead of what promises to be a massive 2026 WNBA campaign.

A torn MCL forced the 29-year-old to play just 30 games in her first year alongside Caitlin Clark.

Her impact was immediate. Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game, shooting a career-high 43.2% from 3-point range.

Now, bigger things are expected from Indiana’s beloved enforcer in year two. The Fever finished 24-20 last season and reached the WNBA semifinals. Cunningham is a key piece of their plans to go even further. This offseason, she is doing everything in her power to live up to those expectations.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham opens up about physically and mentally demanding road to full recovery

Cunningham has kept herself plenty busy this offseason. Away from the hardwood, she launched the 1st Annual Sophie Cunningham Golf Classic. The Fever guard has also kept her “Show Me Something” podcast rolling, releasing new episodes weekly.

Still, above everything else, Cunningham has made her knee rehabilitation the top priority. Getting back to full strength after a serious surgical procedure is no easy task, physically or mentally.

Cunningham has been transparent about the grind. She recently posted a TikTok clip of herself, out of breath and drenched in sweat. She gave fans an unfiltered look at what the process demands.

“Ok, I’m dying. I just did a mountain for conditioning for the first time since college,” she said in the clip. “And if you don’t know that, God bless your soul. But it’s — you start at one sprint, two down the backs, two down backs, all the way to 10. And then once you get the 10, you go to 10. And then you go nine down backs, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. And I’m like, officially dying, holy cow.”

The seven-year WNBA veteran added, “There’s certain things in sports that never get easier. And conditioning is one of them. Officially dying.”

Beyond her on-court production, the 29-year-old’s magnetic personality and sharp wit made her one of the league’s most beloved figures. Fans gravitated toward her instantly.

Now, she is taking that momentum far beyond the basketball court. Cunningham recently shared her latest accomplishment with followers online, proving she is far more than just a professional athlete.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham promotes podcast billboard in NYC

Cunningham has always had a natural command in front of a camera. That comfort dates back to her time as a recurring TV analyst for the Phoenix Suns. It carried over seamlessly when she joined Indiana.

In recent years, Cunningham has fully embraced the podcasting world. She co-hosts “Show Me Something” alongside childhood friend and Bravo’s Summer House star West Wilson.

Now, the show has reached a new milestone. Cunningham recently celebrated a billboard promoting the podcast near Madison Square Garden in New York City. She shared a photo of the massive ad via her Instagram stories.

Few locations carry more weight in sports and entertainment. The area surrounding MSG draws millions of visitors each year, putting the “Show Me Something” brand in front of a massive audience.

Currently, Cunningham is recovering from a torn MCL she suffered in August. Still, she has plenty of athletic years ahead of her.

In the meantime, she continues to capitalize on every opportunity the offseason brings. Her bright mind, deep basketball knowledge and larger-than-life personality already make her a natural fit for a long future in broadcasting and podcasting.

The 6-foot-1 guard was drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2019. This marked the highest draft position ever for a Mizzou player. After six seasons with Phoenix, she joined the Indiana Fever in 2025. She immediately emerged as a team leader and top performer.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham thrilled by Missouri basketball crowd

Despite her WNBA success, Cunningham has always remembered her college basketball career. On Saturday, she shared her excitement while watching the Missouri crowd at the men’s basketball game. Her message included a personal admission that she’s missed college basketball.

“This Mizzou crowd is ELITE! Ahhh how I’ve missed the college atmosphere 🐯,” Cunningham wrote on X.

Saturday’s game between Missouri and the Arkansas Razorbacks delivered a closely contested Southeastern Conference matchup. The contest extended into overtime, where Arkansas ultimately defeated Missouri 88-84 in a tense, high-stakes finish.

Missouri’s crowd stayed energetic throughout the game, keeping fans on edge as both teams exchanged leads multiple times. The passionate atmosphere reflected the excitement Cunningham fondly remembers from her own playing days at Missouri.

With the Fever, the former Tigers standout quickly earned a reputation as a tough, versatile guard contributing on both ends. Her toughness showed clearly during Indiana’s June 17 matchup against the Connecticut Sun. Tensions escalated in the third quarter after Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and Fever star Caitlin Clark exchanged words following a hard foul.

Another Sun player, Marina Mabrey, then shoved Clark to the floor, further escalating the game’s intensity. Fans believed Cunningham retaliated by grabbing Sheldon’s head as the Sun player attempted a layup.

The former Missouri star suffered a knee injury during an August 17 game against the Sun. Cunningham was later diagnosed with a torn right MCL, forcing her to miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Cunningham, now an unrestricted free agent, hinted at the possibility of leaving Indiana to seek the highest possible contract.

On top of that, Cunningham was a major contributor to the Fever during their WNBA Commissioners Cup title run. Unfortunately, her season was cut short to just 30 games after she tore her right MCL. During the game against the Connecticut Sun, guard Bria Hartley fell into Cunningham’s leg when she drove to the paint.

In her recovery period this offseason, Cunningham shared that she lost a lot of weight. She now weighs 148.5lbs, down 16.5lbs from her listed weight of 165lbs.

Sophie Cunningham is loving pickleball during the WNBA offseason

Despite her injury, Cunningham still plays many sports as she rehabilitates her knee. Most recently, she took a liking to pickleball, joining the craze of the fastest-growing sport in the country.

Cunningham sent a warning on her Instagram story saying, “When I retire, it’s over for you children.”

In a more recent story, Cunningham reshared a post from the Arizona-based pickleball club Electric Pickle.

On top of that, she also posted on her own Instagram story. In the post, Cunningham is holding a pickleball and a pickleball paddle with the caption, “Confirmed. I’d kick [expletive] in this sport, plus my fav part, you get a tan while playing!!”

Cunningham still has a lot of gas in the tank, but she has definitely found a sport that she loves outside of basketball. The seven-year veteran is expected to be a big piece for the Fever’s 2026 WNBA season. Her toughness on the court will definitely help set the pace for Indiana as they aim to win the WNBA championship.

On top of that, Cunningham has been a great addition since she was traded to Indiana. During the 2025 season, she averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals a game. The Columbia, Missouri, native helped the Fever win the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Cunningham is also known for being outspoken, especially since she has her own podcast titled “Show Me Something.” She has been vocal about what’s happening to her, from off-court activities to personal news. Recently, Cunningham shared on her podcast that she lost one of her oldest friends and companions.

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham shares upsetting news

On top of her podcast, Cunningham regularly shares the latest happenings via her Instagram. She has shared her offseason activities, such as attending NASCAR events and her rehab journey from injury.

Most recently, she shared a post from former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and the Tim Tebow Foundation. The post talked about kids’ safety amid rising concerns of pedophilia.

“We are losing the battle and we are losing the war and boys and girls are suffering from it,” Tebow said. “Every red dot that is on there is someone that is downloading, sharing, or distributing child rape images – almost all under the age of 12.”

Tebow added that they know that 55% to 85% are also hands-on offenders, and the average offender has 13 victims in their lifetime.

“The scale of harm right here in America is, to a certain extent, hard to comprehend. But that’s why we’re here,” he said.

The former NFL quarterback also shared a disturbing story about one of their operations.

“One of the doors that was knocked down, when they went in and seized his computer, they found that he also had raped 30 other boys and girls in THAT neighborhood,” he shared.

Cunnigham reshared the post to her Instagram story. She also commented on the post, saying, “RESHARE! How can we help?”

The Fever star was clearly affected by the news, and she’s doing her part to spread awareness.

The Missouri alum helped the Fever win the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup. Her addition to the squad bolstered their overall depth. She provided toughness against physical teams while also shooting the lights out, proving to be a threat on both ends of the floor.

Unfortunately, Cunningham’s season was cut short because of an injury she suffered against the Connecticut Sun. She tore her right MCL after Connecticut guard Bria Hartley drove to the lane and stumbled onto Cunningham’s right leg.

Cunningham has been recovering this offseason as she prepares to enter her eighth year in the league. She has lost a lot of weight as she gets into shape after her brutal injury. Despite that, Cunningham is looking to put on some punds before the season starts.

Sophie Cunningham shares a controversial comment during the WNBA offseason

Unfortunately, some WNBA athletes are forced to conform to societal norms as they grow up. WNBA players are usually taller and a bit heavier than other women their age. Being taller and stronger is often associated with masculinity, while being smaller is usually aligned with femininity.

As for Cunningham, she was always on the tall side of the chart. She is currently listed at 6-foot-1, and she is known for her physicality on the court. The Columbia, Missouri, native recently shared her thoughts about tall women on TikTok.

In the video, Cunningham was wearing workout clothes with an overlaying text saying “we had to bc we were bigger than all the boys growing up.”

On top of that, she also added audio and mouthed the words “I’m gonna say something controversial.”

“I think tall women have better personalities than shorter women, and the reason is because I said so.” she added.

@sophiecham♬ original sound – stephantalks

This garnered multiple reactions on her post with a mix of positive, uplifting and disagreeing comments.

“And I believe you!!” one user said.

“I think you’re right. And it makes more sense just because you said it,” another added.

“I don’t know about the tall stuff… but Go Sophie!” said one user.

“Woowwwww I say no yall don’t đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł I’m 4’10&3/4” and I’m funny as hell!!!” a user shared.

“Amen!!” one comment exclaimed.

“I think tall women just see the world differently
perspective and personality included,” a user shared.

Cunningham is surely a personality, and she is not afraid to share her feelings. She has even shared that criticisms don’t faze her. This is a favorable trait, especially as the Fever’s designated enforcer.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has spoken candidly about the stalled WNBA collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations with the players. The league and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) have been negotiating for months, exchanging proposals without resolution.

The WNBPA is pushing for a larger slice of the league’s rising revenues. Central to the players’ demands is a significant increase in revenue sharing. Under the current CBA, players earn less than 10% of league revenue, far below the NBA’s 51% split.

The union’s latest proposal calls for 25% of gross revenue in the first year, rising to an average of 26% over the agreement’s duration. Players are also seeking higher salaries, a bigger team salary cap, team-provided housing, better pension plans, enhanced pregnancy protections and standardized practice facilities.

WNBA: Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

The WNBA has countered with a more conservative offer. Its proposal would give players over 70% of net revenue — under 15% of gross revenue — with a 2026 $5.75 million salary cap. Maximum salaries would start at $1.3 million and could reach $2 million by 2031. At the same time, average player salaries would rise from $120,000 in 2025 to $540,000 in 2026.

The league called the union’s revenue demands “unrealistic,” warning they could cause hundreds of millions in losses for team owners.

Sophie Cunningham criticizes WNBA’s approach to new CBA talks

Cunningham has voiced frustration over the WNBA’s approach to stalled CBA negotiations. Speaking on her “Show Me Something” podcast, the WNBA star revealed why players have resisted the league’s latest proposals regarding the new CBA.

“The league actually came back to us last night at like 10 p.m. Nothing happened with the revenue share, and that is the whole thing that we’re fighting for,” the veteran guard said.

“They go and they change our salary cap, but only like half a percentage,” she continued. “Like they give us like $50,000 to $100,000 more dollars
That’s for teams, so it’s like, ‘Oh, well, you’re getting more money there.’ It’s like, no.”

The 29-year-old Missouri native slammed the WNBA for focusing on changes players did not request while ignoring revenue-sharing issues.

“It makes literally no sense
They keep coming back and changing literally like half percentages of things we’re not even asking,” she said. “I think like they won’t even talk about revenue share, but that is our whole fight is revenue share.”

A post shared by Show Me Something (@showme_pod)

Cunningham expressed frustration that the league seemed more focused on appearing responsive than addressing the players’ most important concerns.

“I’m telling you, they are trying to throw money at anything and everything and change half percentages, saying they moved and saying that they’re listening to us,” the 6-foot-1 guard said.

“Yet our biggest thing they haven’t even touched is revenue share whatsoever. It’s like, revenue share is the main thing that we need you to touch on, and you’re not doing it.”

The WNBA and its players’ union are racing against time to finalize a new deal. The league said a term sheet for a new CBA must be agreed upon by March 10. If no agreement is reached before the deadline, a strike or lockout could occur. This could delay the 2026 season, which is scheduled to start on May 8.

Sophie Cunningham had a great debut season with the Indiana Fever, serving as a key piece for the team. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals a game and helped them win the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.

On top of that, Cunningham had impressive shooting averages, getting career highs of 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from the three.

Cunningham’s addition to the Fever was a much-needed move as she became the enforcer of the team. Ever since her arrival, she has become the squad’s physical protector, especially when opponents try to bully her teammates.

Unfortunately, the seven-year veteran only played 30 games last season after suffering a right knee injury. Connecticut Sun guard Bria Hartley landed on her leg, causing Cunningham to tear her right MCL.

Cunningham is now getting back into shape as she prepares for the next WNBA season.

In her seven-year WNBA career, Cunningham has faced a lot of criticism. She has carved a role as the physical enforcer who will get into opponents’ faces when they bully her team. Of course, being in that role comes with a lot of talking heads saying a lot of things.

In a recent episode of her podcast, “Show Me Something,” Cunningham and Co. talked about handling criticism. Their guest, TV personality Carl Radke, shared his struggles about being a people-pleaser. This prompted Cunningham to chime in, saying, “You need to learn how to not care so much.”

WNBA star Sophie Cunningham shares her mindset on criticisms

Cunningham was then asked by her co-host about her trick for handling that situation.

“I work with a sports pysch guy, and that has been literally a night and day difference for me,” she said. “I’ve always had a confidence about me that I can beat my own drum. Like, I know my end goal. I know who I wanna be.”

The Fever guard then shared that many people can get into their own heads, which makes them question themselves.

“I’ve truly mastered — not mastered, but pretty damn close — the past two or three years of like who gives a [expletive],” Cunningham shared. “I literally do not care like people are gonna love me or hate me regardless of what I do. … I just don’t care what other people think of me.”

Cunningham’s co-host then had a follow-up question: “Do you think it’s natural or it’s learned?”

“I think there’s a little bit of natural,” she said. “But I had to relearn how to not care so much. Because I’m someone who is very passionate and fiery.”

She finished by saying, “I love people, I care about people, but I have just really mastered the art of like, I really, I don’t give a [expletive].”

This goes to show how minding one’s own business can go a long way. This outlook will play a pivotal role for Cunningham and the Fever as they look to make a push for the WNBA championship next season.

Indiana Fever stars Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark have a strong bond both on and off the court. The 29-year-old guard joined Indiana in January 2025 through a high-profile trade from the Phoenix Mercury. She immediately emerged as a team leader and top performer.

Known for her toughness on the court, Cunningham consistently protected her teammates and never backed down from physical play. She showed this during the Fever’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun on June 17.

During the third quarter of the game, tensions escalated after Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and Clark exchanged words following a hard foul. Another Connecticut Sun player, Marina Mabrey, then shoved Clark to the floor, drawing boos from the crowd.

Fans believe Cunningham retaliated later in the game by grabbing Sheldon by the head. She brought Sheldon to the ground while the Sun player was attempting a layup. After reviewing the foul on Sheldon, the referees issued a Flagrant-2 foul and ejected Cunningham from the game.

Since then, Cunningham cemented her role as the Fever’s enforcer. However, a torn MCL cut her season short after 30 games.

WNBA: Sophie Cunningham’s Instagram post sparks playful exchange with Caitlin Clark

Cunningham and Clark have developed a friendship that continues to deepen both on and off the court. They trade playful jabs that show how comfortable they are with each other, and that is evident in their social media interactions.

On Monday, Cunningham posted a lively personal update on Instagram. The 6-foot-1 guard shared a collection of photos highlighting her off-court adventures from the past month. The gallery featured selfies as well as images from parties and outings with friends.

But the post drew extra attention when Clark made a funny comment. “Do u play basketball,” Clark joked, noticing that the glamorous photos included almost no basketball-related activity. Cunningham quickly replied with a witty response.

“do you want me to send you my highlight reel?” challenged Cunningham.

Cunningham’s comment has drawn the attention of fans. As of writing, the remark has attracted over 1,000 likes on Instagram.

The Missouri native is now an unrestricted free agent following the expiration of her contract with the Fever. She is open to returning to Indiana, but has made it clear she wants the highest possible contract.

Amid the WNBA offseason, Cunningham and Clark continue to playfully interact online, teasing each other. Their interactions also reflect the close bond shared throughout the Fever locker room. However, it remains uncertain whether the two stars will remain with the Indiana Fever for the 2026 season.

Despite being the enforcer for Indiana, Cunningham is considered a sharpshooter, as she made 51 threes last year on a 43.2% clip. Unfortunately, her debut season with the Fever was cut short. Cunningham suffered a torn right MCL during their game against the Connecticut Sun. Guard Bria Hartley drove into the paint but fell and stumbled on Cunningham’s right leg.

Sophie Cunningham talks about the unfortunate personal news away from the WNBA

Growing up on a farm in Columbia, Missouri, Cunningham was around many animals. She grew fond of horses and frequently spent her free time with them.

Unfortunately, the Columbia, Missouri, native shared that she lost one of her oldest horses.

“Fly high to my very first horse, Bea. Best horse ever,” Cunningham said in a series of Instagram stories. “She was about to turn 36! The sweetest, most gentle horse. Sad day.”

In a recent episode of Cunningham’s Podcast, “Show Me Something,” she talked about her friend and companion.

“My very first horse, her name was Bea. She actually passed away this morning,” she said.

“She was beautiful, and I’m not kidding, she was like the best horse. All of our friends and family met her. I’ve had her since I was like born, I’m 29, and she was 36 years old.”

Cunningham became known as the Fever’s enforcer for protecting the squad and refusing to back down from physical play. She also provided exceptional perimeter shooting, giving her teammates more room to drive.

In her debut season with Indiana, the veteran guard appeared in 30 games. She achieved career-best shooting of 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three-point range. Cunningham helped the Fever win the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup and finish with a 24-20 record—the best in franchise history.

In her first season under coach Stephanie White, Cunningham posted 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. Unfortunately, her campaign was cut short after she tore her right MCL, limiting her to just 30 games.

While she has plenty of basketball left in the tank, Cunningham has been busy exploring a new venture away from the hardwood.

Cunningham has never been shy about her love for sports. This offseason, she picked up a new one. The Indiana Fever guard has joined the pickleball craze, embracing the fastest-growing sport in the country.

The 29-year-old wasted no time getting on the court. She shared the new interest on her Instagram Story from a pickleball court at Life Time at Penn 1 in New York City.

Ever the competitor, Cunningham even left a playful warning for those who would play her.

“When I retire, it’s over for you children,” she captioned the post.

Indiana Fever teammates Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have built one of the most compelling duos in the WNBA.

Clark spearheaded another strong Fever campaign last season, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games. However, a right groin injury cut her season short.

Cunningham also made an immediate impact after joining Indiana. She brought the toughness, leadership and enforcer mentality the team was sorely lacking. Her season ended early as well due to a torn MCL that sidelined her after 30 games.

With both stars working hard during the offseason, they kept fans entertained with some playful online banter.

Cunningham keeps her followers well updated on social media. This time, she shared a carousel of images giving fans a slice-of-life look at her February.

“Feb, you were a cutie,” she captioned the post.

The photos drew plenty of comments from fans. But one response stood out above the rest.

“Do u play basketball?” Clark wrote, poking fun at the absence of any basketball activity in Cunningham’s snapshots.

To be fair, Cunningham is still working her way back from her surgically repaired knee, making progress each day. The lighthearted exchange speaks to the genuine chemistry the two have built both on and off the court.

The Fever brought Cunningham in specifically to serve as an enforcer for Clark after the 24-year-old faced constant physical attention from defenses.

With Cunningham watching her back, Clark did what she does best. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star was named an All-Star for a second straight season before her injury. Cunningham held her own as well, contributing 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game across 30 games.

Together, they helped coach Stephanie White guide Indiana to a 24-20 record, a Commissioner’s Cup title and a WNBA semifinals appearance.

With both players expected back healthy in 2026, the Fever will look to build on that historic finish and take the next step.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is exploring more ventures outside the WNBA.

The seven-year veteran appeared in 30 games in her first season with the Caitlin Clark-led Fever. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.

She helped Indiana improve from a 20-20 record in 2024 to a 24-20 finish in 2025, the best mark in franchise history.

Her impact went beyond the box score. Cunningham added toughness, heart and grit to a team on the rise, quickly earning a reputation as the Fever’s enforcer.

Apart from her presence on the court, the 29-year-old likes to make just as big an impact off of it.

WNBA: Fever star invites fans to join first annual Sophie Cunningham Golf Classic

Cunningham always finds ways to connect with her supporters. This time, she invited everyone to bond over a round of golf for a good cause.

The Indiana Fever guard announced details for the 1st Annual Sophie Cunningham Golf Classic, scheduled for April 11-12 at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Lake of the Ozarks.

The inaugural charity tournament aims to support and recognize high school girls’ athletics. Sponsorships and team spots are currently available, with registration set at $1,000.

Cunningham kept her pitch simple. “Come hang with me and play some golf,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Golf is a relatively new passion for the Fever enforcer. When she is not on the court, the Missouri native tends to her horses on her mini farm. But she discovered a love for the links after caddying for teammate Caitlin Clark at The Annika pro-am last year.

That selfless spirit carries over everywhere Cunningham goes. Whether she is competing for the Fever or organizing a charity tournament, she consistently finds ways to lift others while doing what she loves.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is having a busy WNBA offseason. The seven-year veteran is rehabbing from a torn MCL she suffered last year. Her season was cut short during Indiana’s game against the Connecticut Sun. Guard Bria Hartley went into the paint and stumbled on Cunningham’s leg, causing her to tear her the MCL in her right knee.

The 6-foot-1 guard had a good season for the Fever last year. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Cunningham also shot 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three, both career highs. She only played 30 games, but was still a big part of Indiana’s WNBA season. The former Missouri Tigers star was a major part of the Fever’s WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title, providing intensity to the squad.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham gets ready for the new WNBA season

Despite her injury, Cunningham still provided energy from the bench during the Fever’s playoff run. Unfortunately, Indiana couldn’t defeat the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals. In the offseason, Cunningham made sure to get back in top shape following her season-ending injury.

The former 2019 13th overall pick shared that she lost 16.5 lbs this offseason. She was previously listed at 165 lbs, but she is now down to 148.5 lbs. As Indiana’s enforcer, fans might think that she will lose her physicality because of this. This is why Cunningham shared that she “need(s) to gain 5 lbs.” before the season starts.

In an Instagram story, Cunningham shared a photo of her legs beside the pool as she enjoys the offseason. She also needs to take time to relax during the break, as she continues working hard to get in shape.

But, of course, the sharpshooter still needs to get her reps in. In the following Instagram story, she shared another photo of her legs. This time, Cunningham is in her sneakers and on the basketball court.

As she is gearing up for her eighth WNBA season, Fever fans are excited to have their enforcer back on the court. Cunningham is not one to walk away from physicality, as evidenced by her claim that women’s basketball is as tough as the men’s. This is why she is a valuable asset to Indiana and a major piece in their quest to win it all.

With a WNBA lockout looming, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham may be trading the hardwood for the spotlight. The 6-foot-1 veteran is still rehabbing the torn MCL she sustained last season, her first campaign alongside Caitlin Clark in Indiana.

Cunningham made her presence felt immediately. The former Missouri Tigers star helped the Fever post a franchise-best 24-20 record. She was a key piece for coach Stephanie White, averaging 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 30 games before her season ended prematurely.

If a lockout delays her return to the court, Cunningham has already tipped off where fans will likely find her next.

WNBA: Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham teases potential cameo appearance on hit reality show ‘Summer House’

The latest episode of “Show Me Something” with Cunningham and co-host West Wilson revealed that a small-screen debut could be in the cards.

The 29-year-old is a self-described Bravo and “Summer House” superfan. On the podcast, Cunningham floated the idea of visiting Wilson on set if the 2026 WNBA season gets put on hold.

“Hey, if we don’t have a season, I’m coming up there for a weekend,” Cunningham said at the 9:42 mark of the episode.

Wilson had no objections and suggested her cameo would send shockwaves through the Bravo fanbase.

“Oh yeah, people would lose their minds,” Wilson said.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on the WNBA’s labor situation. The league operates under a “status quo” period after the previous CBA expired Jan. 9, without a new deal in place.

The 2026 season is scheduled to tip off May 8, but that start date is at risk without a resolution. The WNBA set March 10 as a target date for a new agreement to keep the schedule intact. Both sides remain cautiously optimistic a deal gets done.

With the hardwood potentially on pause, Cunningham is not waiting around. If there is a delay to the start of the season, she already knows exactly where she will be.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is coming off a great WNBA season that was cut short by an injury. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game this year. The seven-year veteran shot career highs of 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three.

Unfortunately, during their game against the Connecticut Sun, Cunningham injured her right knee. Connecticut guard Bria Hartley stumbled into the paint and landed on Cunningham’s leg, causing her to tear her MCL.

During the offseason, Cunningham focused on recovering and rehabilitating her injured knee. She shared that she lost a lot of weight, now weighing at 148.5lbs, compared to her listed weight of 165lbs. However, Cunningham said that she is looking to gain at least five more pounds before the WNBA season starts.

Sophie Cunningham reveals one truth about the WNBA

Cunningham is known for her role as the Fever’s “enforcer.” She takes care of her teammates when opponents are being too physical. However, people might think that she might lose a step because of her injury and weight loss. It is unlikely that Cunningham will be less of an “enforcer” on the court as she thrives in that role.

People believe that playing in the WNBA, or women’s basketball in general, is less physical than men’s. In an episode of Cunningham’s podcast, “Show Me Something”, they talked about the physicality of women’s basketball.

Their guest, TV personality Carl Radke, shared that he played against former Syracuse forward Keri Laimbeer. He said he would go toe-to-toe with Laimbeer in the paint, and she would beat him.

“Does it take you a second to learn how to like play against the girls?” Cunningham asked.

“I was excited about the opportunity because I know how fundamental and [skillful they are],” Radke answered. “But what I didn’t clock was the toughness and like the physicality of the women.”

“I just assumed it would be a little less physical. It was actually more physical than I ever realized.”

Cunningham listened to this answer with a smile, considering how she is one of the most physical WNBA players today.

“Everyone says that,” she said. “I feel like I have to be more physical so when our practice players come in. They’re like ‘[expletive] we got the [expletive] beat out of us today.'”

She went on to describe how physical it gets during WNBA practices, which translates to games.

This goes to show that no one should underestimate women’s basketball. As for Cunningham, her presence on the court was sorely missed last season. She will definitely add a lot as the Fever aim to win the WNBA title in 2026.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham rarely lets the public in. The 6-foot-1 veteran keeps her personal life behind closed doors, but she recently pulled back the curtain in a candid moment.

Cunningham spent the offseason recovering from a torn MCL that cut her 2025 campaign short. Before the injury, the Missouri product made an immediate impact on a Fever squad led by Caitlin Clark. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot a career-best 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three.

Beyond the numbers, Cunningham brought a toughness and edge that a young, rising Fever roster badly needed.

Before suiting up for her second season under coach Stephanie White, the veteran guard gave a rare glimpse into her life off the court.

WNBA: Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham reveals juicy details about her dating life

Cunningham is relentless when it comes to her craft. The seven-year veteran pours countless hours into her game and rarely diverts attention from basketball.

But on Wednesday, the WNBA star made an exception. She joined the “Like A Farmer” podcast hosted by Pat Spinosa and ventured into territory she seldom explores.

The conversation quickly turned to her dating life.

“Okay, so let me get into this, because we were talking about this off-camera. People don’t come up to me. Like, I don’t really go on dates. You know what I mean?” she said. “My life is a mystery to a lot of people. And that’s how I want it to be.”

The Missouri native then shed light on why romance has been elusive. She even delivered the admission with a signature dose of humor.

“I think I just may give off an intimidating vibe… I think that’s maybe the problem. Like, I get along with the guys way more than I get along with the girls. I think I might be a boy. I can’t say that nowadays. I’m kidding! I’m a biological woman!” she quipped.

Cunningham guards her personal life as fiercely as she guards opponents on the court. It was a rare moment of transparency from the Fever guard.

But when the 2026 season tips off, expect the beloved enforcer to be all business once again.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is mourning the loss of a beloved companion.

The 29-year-old is currently in the offseason following an impactful debut campaign with one of the WNBA’s most exciting rosters.

After spending six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham was traded to Indiana ahead of the 2025 season. She thrived in a supporting role alongside Caitlin Clark, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. However, Cunningham only suited up for 30 games before a season-ending MCL tear cut her year short.

She brought grit and physicality to a Fever team on the rise. But behind the enforcer persona lies a deep compassion for the ones closest to her.

WNBA: Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham grieves the passing of her horse, Bea

Cunningham grew up on a farm in Columbia, Missouri, where a life surrounded by animals shaped who she is today.

She developed a particular fondness for horses early on, spending free time riding and caring for them. The veteran winger has openly shared those moments with fans on social media over the years.

That bond made Tuesday’s news all the more heartbreaking. Cunningham lost one of her oldest friends in Bea, a companion she treated not as a pet but as family.

The Columbia native paid tribute to her four-legged friend in a series of Instagram stories.

“Fly high to my very first horse, Bea. Best horse ever,” she wrote.

The Fever guard added: “She was about to turn 36! The sweetest, most gentle horse. Sad day.”

For Cunningham, animals and the outdoors have always been more than a pastime. They connect her to her roots and provide peace away from the demands of professional basketball.

That closeness to nature defined her upbringing and remains a quiet constant throughout her career.

As Cunningham looks ahead to a new season with the Fever, she will carry Bea’s memory close to her heart.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has been having an eventful WNBA offseason. The seven-year veteran is coming off an impressive season, during which she helped the Fever win the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and a decent 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three. Indiana finished with a franchise-best 24-20 record. Unfortunately, they failed to win the WNBA Championship, losing to the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals.

As for Cunningham, she wasn’t able to finish the campaign as she suffered a season-ending torn MCL. The former 2019 second-round pick is expected to make a full recovery.

Despite her injury, Cunningham made sure to help her team in any way she could. She kept the bench energy high, and she also assisted with huddles and game plans during Indiana’s playoff run.

Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham shows off her WNBA offseason activities

Cunningham was spotted over the weekend at the NASCAR Cup Race at Echo Park in Atlanta. She is a brand partner of the American fast food chain Arby’s. The Fever “enforcer” shares her experience with Arby’s via X during the NASCAR Cup Race.

She was holding a flag that said “Hot girls eat Arby’s.”

Cunningham’s move away from the WNBA drew significant attention online.

“LET ‘EM HEAR IT” commented the official account of Arby’s

“Love this! How many tracks have you been to now? When are we going to see you behind the wheel?” a supporter wrote.

“Girl you don’t need the extra sauce you’re saucy enough.” a reaction read.

“If i order it that’s exactly what i do extra sauce!” another said.

“Thanks for the idea. It’s Arby’s for lunch today!” a user shared.

“Well, Arby’s does have the meats! đŸ€Łâ€ said another.

As she is ramping up her return from injury, the sharpshooting guard is staying fit and loose during the offseason. Cunningham will be entering her eighth season, and she is looking to help the Fever win its second championship in franchise history.

In the 2025 season, the Fever finished with a 24-20 record, the best in franchise history. Not only that, but they also won the WNBA Commissioner Cup. Since she arrived in Indiana, Cunningham has been dubbed the Fever’s “enforcer.” This was after she was ejected during a game against the Connecticut Sun for grabbing Jacy Sheldon.

Sophie Cunningham gears up for her return to the Indiana Fever

Cunningham played four years for the University of Missouri. She averaged 17 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3 assists per game for the Tigers. During the 2019 WNBA Draft, Cunningham was drafted with the 13th pick in the second round by the Phoenix Mercury.

Cunningham played in Phoenix for six years, and she averaged 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Before the 2025 season, the Fever traded for Cunningham to bolster their roster alongside star Caitlin Clark. In 30 games for Indiana, Cunningham had a career-best 46.9% field goal percentage. She also shot 43.2% from three, her career high.

After becoming an integral part of the Fever’s roster, Cunningham suffered a season-ending injury. She tore her right MCL during a game against the Sun when guard Bria Hartley landed on her leg.

As she is recovering from her season-ending knee injury, Cunningham shared that she underwent a major change this offseason. Previously listed at 165 lbs, she revealed that she is now down to 148.5 lbs.

“Need to gain 5lbs,” she said on her Instagram story.

Cunningham lost 16.5 lbs, which is staggering for a professional athlete. As she said, however, she intends to put on at least five pounds before the start of the new WNBA season.

This is a big deal for the defending WNBA Commissioners Cup champions. It shows that their “enforcer” is staying fit and excited to return for the Fever next season. As for Indiana, which lost in the semifinals of last year’s playoffs, they are looking to win it all this year.
