Marcus Freeman is going to have a lot of potential opportunities this offseason if he entertains leaving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Teams in the NFL have shown interest in the coach and if he decides he wants to make the jump to the pros, teams will be interested. There is one job that is reportedly waiting for him to take if he wants it, so let’s take a deeper dive into the team Freeman can take over in the NFL right now.
Marcus Freeman could be the next New York Giants coach

While appearing on Giants Nation Show, NFL insider Ian O’Connor discussed how he believes Freeman has the job with the New York Giants if he wants it.
“He was talking to [Notre Dame] about giving him a new contract. It seems like they’re going to have to do that every year because Freeman is going to be an attractive candidate every year. You see the way he runs his program, his public, the way he carries himself in public. He is, you could see that CEO type, which a lot of owners want now and he’s never coached in the NFL, so that’s a question mark.
“But the coach at a high-profile program like that and to have the success he’s had is impressive. So I think if he’s willing to leave Notre Dame, I think he’d get the [New York Giants] job, frankly… If he wants to leave, if he wants to coach in the NFL, I do think he’ll be the next coach of the Giants”
O’Connor would continue to explain how even with the Giants job on the table, Freeman is showing that he wants to remain with Notre Dame. With the talks of a contract extension from the school and wanting to win a national championship in South Bend, it is difficult to imagine him walking away. Freeman has a 43-12 record, including a 5-2 bowl record in his five-year coaching career. It will be intriguing to see if the NFL is able to entice him away from the Fighting Irish.
