The Chicago White Sox are looking to take the next step of their rebuilding process in 2026. They have a lot of young talent throughout the MLB roster, but they need to find a way to continue developing its players. There are a lot of different ways to evaluate success for the team, but what is the best-case scenario for the team this seaosn? Let’s take a closer look at what one outlet believes it to be.
The Chicago White Sox need to continue moving forward this season

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly wrote an article discussing the best-case outcome for all 30 teams. For Chicago, it is simply to continue moving in the right direction. Below is the snippet that Kelly wrote about the team:
“The White Sox lost 102 games in 2025, which for most teams would represent a disastrous campaign. However, it actually felt like a step in the right direction on the south side, considering Chicago had lost a staggering 121 losses the prior season.
“In Will Veneable’s second year as manager, it’s still not a realistic goal for the Chi Sox to be a playoff team. However, with Munetaka Murakami, Chase Meidroth, Kyle Teel, Colson Montgomery and Shane Smith, you can start to see the makings of a core. If that group continues to show promise, it will be a successful season. Frankly, if two seasons after losing 121 games the White Sox look a year away from being a year away, that would actually speak well to the job that general manager Chris Getz is doing.”
The White Sox looked like they were heading in that direction with the offseason additions. Landing a player like Murakami should show that Chicago is still a possible free agent destination. With the young core continuing to develop, there is no rush to make the postseason. Instead, just correcting their issues and continuing to develop players.
They’ll also have the first pick in this year’s MLB Draft, so they will have another outstanding prospect to add to the organization. It will be intriguing to see how far this White Sox team can go in 2026.
