White Sox fans are currently holding their collective breath as catcher Kyle Teel exited tonight’s game with an injury. In the top of the sixth inning of tonight’s Team Italy vs. Team United States pool play game, Teel would hit a double down the first base line. After rounding first base, he would slide into second base and grimace while getting up.
Teel would be checked out by Team Italy’s trainer and immediately be taken out of the game. There has been no official word on what the specific injury is at this time. It will be interesting to see what the diagnosis of Teel’s injury is and what his status will be for the remainder of the World Baseball Classic, as well as for Opening Day for Chicago.
Teel has played in two games for Team Italy so far and is 4 for 6 (.667) with one home run, two RBI, one walk, and two runs scored.
